Forms Data Controls :: DropDownList In The FooterTemplate Of A DataGrid Will Not Show Its Items?

I am placing a dropdown list in the footer of a DataGrid like this:

In my code behind file, in the myDDL_OnLoad event handler, I call to the database, populate a SqlDataReader, and set the DDL's datasource to that datareader. I define what data columns should be used for the DataValueField and DataTextField of the dropdownlist. Then I call the DropDownList's DataBind() method. Everything works without error. But, when the dropdownlist is displayed, it has blank lines in it.
By that, I mean if 8 records are loaded into the dropdownlist, it will expand to a size appropriate for 8 rows but, it will be empty. there is no text in it.
Has anyone seen this type of behavior before? This dropdownlist is in the footer of a dynamically loaded ajax update panel so, it is difficult to see the source code to see what values are in the html element rendered to represent the dropdown.

I have a datagrid that has photos and a description of the individual in the photo. I have a procedure that works and if I execute it with the correct parameters it changes the rows in the table. I have a datagrid with two image buttons, MoveUp and MoveDown. I just want to be able to reorder the photos when needed.
In my proc called "MoveMember" I have these parameters that are passed in. The column that gets swapped in my table is the "OrderBy" column, they are just numeric numbers 1,2,3,4 etc.
So in my procedure 2 and 3 can be interchanged.

I have a databound dropdownlist hooked up to a table and the query has the returned items show up in order. I also have some default items that are _DataBound like so:

What I'd like to do is add some more items, but have these new items show up in order with the other items displayed from the query. How do I accomplish this?

I'm using code to convert items in a Datagrid row from UPPERCASE to Title Case. It works good, but the problem is if it comes across a hyperlink field, it will put in a blank value. Not sure why its doing this, but here is the code below. Wondered if any one has came across this problem and managed to solve it?

This should be simple but I am baffled. I have a perfectly functioning DataGrid that I can click its "Select" link to select any one of its rows. When I do, the row highlights itself in red as expected. So far, so good.I also have an independent Label on the same page and I want to update its Text value to a cell value from the DataGrid when I select a specific row.OTH the DataGrid (named GridView1) and the Label (named Label2) are within an UpdatePanel.PROBLEM: When I select a row from the DataGrid, the Label is not updated with the cell's contents. the problem is that , i have two dropdown in a datagrid one dropdown contain diffrent type of tax name and other contain the tax rate releated to that tax and i also have one buttton i datagrid which work to insert another row for next tax type.now problem is that as sooon as the new row inserted the both dropdown takes the values but as soon as i changed the selected index of dropdown taxname then then all the taxrate dropdown values has been changed with respect to the new one taxname values.

I'm using a text book to teach myself ASP.NET 3.5. I'm using Visual Web Developer 2008 express to create my pages. At this point in my text, the author has me drag a DropDownList control to the Web page and then tells me to go to the Properies window and look at the Items property. I don't see an Items property. I've doublechecked that I'm on my DropDownList control, but I see no Items property. Is this a bug in VWD, an error in the book, or just plain old User error?
I'd be willing to hard-code the property in the source window, but I don't know the syntax. I tried
items="Vanilla, Chocolate" but nothing appears in the list when I view the screen.

I am dynamically bind the textbox in the data grid and in the text box change event i need to add the numbers in all the text box and show in the separate label.
I am using the text box change event and post back to true, I can able to calculate the result but the problem is that on text change itself i need to calculate and show the result, but in my case, when i move the focus from the that text box, the results calculated and focus get lost.

I have a web application that takes information entered by the user and displays it in a few datagrids, that are located withing a multiview.
In order to enter a row to a datagrid the user enters some information and clicking on a button calls a function that adds the data to an arraylist, which is the source of the datagrid. In addition, every postback the data is binded to the datagrid.
It all works fine in the first time, but from the second row and on it enters only parts of the data and ignores the rest.

I am familiar with populating a gridview with data. I am able to bind the Data pulled from the database into the gridview
gridview.DataSource = myDataTable;
gridview.Databound.
If I write the following code, teh gridview will no longer show the data
gridview.DataSource = null;
gridview.Databound.
My question is , I want to make the same thing with a user control that contain a gridview. when I use the user control in an aspx page, I am able to populate it with data, but when I try to make this code, the Datasource does not show, instead, I see .DV. So I tried this code but then , I do not see DataSource property instead I see DV (DataView), when I put .DV = null, I get an error message that the object is not in existed. any idea how to clear the user control gridview from its data.
