I have a file upload control, in edit template and footer template and I want to store its path in database, but I am unable to get the path of from File upload control.

When I click "EDIT" it works fine and row state changes to edit mode.But what I want to do is, when user clicks the "EDIT" on any row (suppose row # 2 -"Record3", I want to do the following steps 1) Change the paging size to 1 2) Reset the page index so that the row which was selected for "EDIT", is the only row in the current GridView 3) Keep the row in "EDIT" mode Here is what I am doing in .cs file

The above code successfully changes the pagesize and page index but the row is rendered in normal mode instead of edit mode.I have to click the "EDIT" to change the mode and thatsa an error

On button press I have to validate the text in edit item template with a text field in gridview row template.
I am having a hard time fetching the data of the edit template textbox. Even though both custom validator and textbox are in same edit item template but intellisense is not picking it up.
Also the custom validator server_validate event is using "object source" instead of "object sender"
How do I fetch the edit item template text for comparison

I have a formview with various templates set up for a database that has 255 columns. I need the insertitemtemplate to pre-fill values based upon a specific selection by the user (just like the edit item template) but when the template is switched to insertitemtemplate every text box is cleared. The idea is that a new entry is usually made by making minor changes to an existing entry. With 255 fields I don't want to require the user to enter every field when only three or four need to change.

I am currently building a system that allows the administrator of our website to update the RSS feed by adding new items, editing current ones and deleting old ones. I have put all of the fields into a template view, because this way, they provide the functionability that I need.
Anyway, because the bodies of the RSS feed will be quite large, I want to be able to have a link in a column, which sends the admin to a page called NewsDetails.aspx?<guid>. <guid> here means the ID tag that I have named 'guid'. When I hover over the link, the correct url appears in the status bar (i.e. www.mywebsite.com/admin/NewsDetails.aspx?1), but when I click on the hyperlinks, they don't navigate to the page, but simply refresh the current page.
Iam using a file upload control for uploading files in my asp.net application. iam using the following code to impersonate the users who do not have permission for the files to upload. The code works fine for all the files, but it is not working for the files which are in desktop.

I see the dropdown but the dropdown is blank, but there are rows in the database for this column and in the footer row it is working fine.
I have a Gridview for which I have provided Sorting, Edit functionality. I am not able to perform EDIT when I perform Sorting. After sorting edit is set on some other row. I think there is some problem with the index it is taking..

For the life of me I can't figure out why I can't put my gridview in edit mode. I am using an ObjectDataSource, maybe that has something to do with it. The problem is that the gridview won't go into edit mode when the edit is pushed. Here is some of my code:

I have problem with the buttons Edit and Delete in Gridview for very long time and i really need about it. So the when i click edit i get in edit mode and when click update the values in the row i was changing disappear but only in the gridview. When check in the Database nothing happens. The delete button not works at all, i mean when click on it only refresh the table.

I have written some code to dynamically generate template columns for gridview which works well. However, each cell in the gridview has to be a linkbutton, which when clicked does a db update and redirects to a specific url with some parameters in it.
I have attached a click event handler to the linkbutton in the InstantiateIn method but the event does not seem to fire.

Word template put on the server so that when the user exports the data it will use the template.I cannot use any third party software .Any sample code would be very helpful. I am using a gridview that contains an asp:fileupload so that when the user clicks 'edit' they can upload a pdf. I need to validate the size of the file, it needs to be less then a certain size. I tried to use a custom validator, but it never get called when the user updates. How can I validate the file size on edit in the gridview?

View 2 RepliesI have a transaction table with a field called product. There is a limited number of choices for product so I also have a product table. I am showing the transactions in a ListView with a dropdownlist for Product. The field Product can be blank (all works well then). The user can leave the field blank or they can choose from the dropdownlist. I am running into a problem with the dropdownlist in the Edit Template. No matter what the product is in the transaction file, I get a page error of "ddlEditProduct has a SelectedValue which is invalid because it does not exist in the list of items". I have verified the product does exist in the product table.

View 3 RepliesIn my edit template I want a dropdownlist containing a list of possible customers. The list is populated from a database table containing existing customers. If the main record has customer "XYZ", then I want that customer to be the default in the dropdown. I'm using VS 2008 and C# My markup for the dropdownlist is currently:

The dropdownlist is populated but the problem is it shows the first customer in the list. I don't want the user to have to rechoose customer if that is not what they are changing.
I have a record in gridview contains string with special character like single quotes( ' ) etc..I've a edit button in gridview when i click on edit button of any record of Gridview then corresponding record shown to text box.
But on that time single quote looks like below ....

After edit button click string in textbox, a testimonial or show consists of a person's written or spoken statement but when I click update button shows following error :

What is the solution so that single quote shows as it original format as it looks in gridview cell when i click on edit button.
