Forms Data Controls :: How To Put The File Upload Control Into The "insert Item" Template Of Formview Control
Nov 12, 2010
I'm using visual web developer and MS.Access and have the following created. 1. A formview control to enter data into the database 2. A File upload control that allows users to upload files. But however i'm unable to include the file upload control in the formview control. How can i achieve this? Below is the code for the page:
I have a formview with various templates set up for a database that has 255 columns. I need the insertitemtemplate to pre-fill values based upon a specific selection by the user (just like the edit item template) but when the template is switched to insertitemtemplate every text box is cleared. The idea is that a new entry is usually made by making minor changes to an existing entry. With 255 fields I don't want to require the user to enter every field when only three or four need to change.
I wish to add a sub to vb file that changes the display value of several asp:panels located in a Formview Item Template. My only question is what is the proper event to run this in. (databound, item created etc...) If it matters this formview appears in a Gridview Item Template.
how can i insert a file upload template column and link it to each row because each row has a unique idi have item code column and i am listing the grid upon the item code columnso for every item code row i need to use file upload to upload it s excel sheet
How can I use required field validators in the insert item template in a listview control? The empty fields in the insert item template are preventing the user from deleting or updating ay other row.
I would like to set the one template for edit/insert and view in my custom FormView control . But i got these odd exception Unable to cast object of type 'System.Web.UI.LiteralControl' to type 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.Table'.
public class CustomFormView : FormView { [PersistenceMode(PersistenceMode.InnerProperty), TemplateContainer(typeof(FormView), BindingDirection.TwoWay)] public IBindableTemplate FormTemplate { get; set; } protected override void OnInit(EventArgs e) { ChangeMode(FormViewMode.Edit); if (FormTemplate != null) { if (CurrentMode == FormViewMode.Edit) { FormTemplate.InstantiateIn(this); } } base.OnInit(e); } } edited : in the first step , I created the new user control and added a formview ("FV") public partial class Form : UserControl { private IBindableTemplate _template = null; [PersistenceMode(PersistenceMode.InnerProperty), TemplateContainer(typeof(FormView), System.ComponentModel.BindingDirection.TwoWay)] public IBindableTemplate FormTemplate { set;get } protected void Page_Init() { if (FormTemplate != null) { FV.InsertItemTemplate = FV.EditItemTemplate = FormTemplate; if (!IsPostBack) FormTemplate.InstantiateIn(FV); } } }
Now , I want to convert this user control to web control.
I have a web form for handling invoices which has a form view. When I'm in insert item template, I need to have various fields. Some of them are contract number, invoice number, register date and other that are easy to handle. But there is a dropdown list related with a table of prices (the table has price name, price initial payment, number of payments, amount of month fee and so on). So, when the dropdown is selected, fields related with price should get their values from price table, and then the user decides to keep them or type in new values. How can I get it done? Should I use a Dynamic populate extender or type all the code behind using SelectedIndexChanged method to populate price related controls?
I have a Formview ('formview1') with a pager. I also have a gridview ('gridview1') linked to a SQL datasource ('History'). I need to set the SelectParameter ('Serial') of the datasource to be the value of a field on the current page in the formview. The value i need to get is in the ItemTemplate and is a label called 'SerialNumberLabel'. So, something like:
<SelectParameters> <asp:ControlParameter Text = "Eval fromview1.currentpage.itemtemplate.SerialNumberLabel" >
I also need to ensure that the SQL source and gridview rebind when the pager is activated.
I have a doubt regarding displaying data in gridview. I have comma separated values in a particular field in my database. Will I be able to display the comma separated values from db table in a control in the Item template field of my gridview?
I have a Formview residing inside am Item Template of a Gridview. The formview is not populating, and I am pretty convinced that I am not passing the parameter properly from the Gridview to the Formview. I have listed the relevant code only, so that you can scan though it easierGridview tag:
Sub PFTFormView_ItemUpdating(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As FormViewUpdateEventArgs) Dim PFTObj As New PFT Dim PFTDST As New Data.DataSet Dim newPFTLastName As String = DirectCast(PFTFormView.FindControl("txtPFTLastName"), TextBox).Text Dim newPFTFirstName As String = DirectCast(PFTFormView.FindControl("txtPFTFirstName"), TextBox).Text PFTObj.PFTLastName = newPFTLastName PFTObj.PFTFirstName = newPFTFirstName PFTObj.PFTHome = DirectCast(PFTFormView.FindControl("txtPFTHome"), TextBox).Text If PFTObj.UpdatePFT(Session("PFTId")) Then Me.lblErrorMessage.Text = "PFT Update Successfully" Else ' Me.lblErrorMessage.Text = "PFT Update UnSuccessfully" End If PFTDST = Nothing PFTObj = Nothing end sub
I am using a formview to show data, with edit, insert and delete enabled. My problem is with the insert. When i click the insert, the formview changes fine to the template for inserting new data, the problem is it was allowing the user to insert the ID themselves, I have made this readonly, but how would i go about ensuring the ID key is made the next number in line? and that it is printed to this textbox?
In the detailsview, I set a edit item template (a bounded dropdownlist control). But in database there are some data not set to a value (null). After clicking edit button in detailsview control I get the error about the value problem (Because after populating the dropdownlist, there is no item as null in it. )How to set dropdownlist selected index when the data is "null"?
i have the following scenario: one formview. when in editmode there is a child formview linked to the other by a column value. i need to take the value of one of the values of parent formview controls and set it to a textbox of child formview in insert mode. I wish to know which event should I use in codebehind to bind both controls? (that escenario will have paging and must keep the binding as if it was master detail)
I am using a form view control which has two binded textbox. Now at this level it works fine and the textboxes show the values from database. But when i insert a panel inside the form view and move these two textboxes inside the panel, they dont show any values. What could be the reason for this?
I am attempting to show/hide a control (txtInpatientType) when a user views individual records on a FormView (frmData) depending on the value stored in another control (txtPatientType). For example, if txtPatientType.Text = "Inpatient" then txtInpatientType.Visible needs to be True. Very simple code follows.
[Code]....
txtPatietType and txtInpatientType are both ReadOnly. txtInpatientType.Visible = false by default.
I have a formview with an insert item template. I have added two dropdown controls that are databound to two different database tables to this insert template. However, when I click the 'InsertQuery' for the Accessdatasource neither of these controls are available as 'Parameter source options'.Out of interest, if I take these dropdown controls out of the formview and put them on the page they then become available to use.
I have grid view control that includes a dropdown control in a template field.I wish to execute some code when the value is changed in the dropdown list. Can't figure out how to capture this event though?
I have a file upload control, in edit template and footer template and I want to store its path in database, but I am unable to get the path of from File upload control.
I have a calendar control where a user selects a date and then inputs info into a FormView control. Underneath the FormView is a GridView that shows all data from the SelectedDate on the calendar control. However, when the date is selected, all the information from the table ( from all dates ) is displayed.
