Forms Data Controls :: Find TextBox Control Inner Grid - Which Is In EditItem Template

Here two have two grid inner and outergrid, When i am click the Edit Linkbuttom i am able to see the EditItemplate of innergrid.. where i can edit the Value.. When going to update that values in Data base.. i am not able to fine the control . Here is the code
Setting up the editItem template of a gridview. I have a template field with a dropdown list for editing. When the gridview goes into edit mode the dropdown list is displayed with all the right options but the current value of the field (pre-editing) is not the selected value of the dropdown list? How do I make that happen? I have a couple fields where the editItem template will use a dropdown list and I'm sure a user will not realize those values have changed and they will just edit what they intended to edit and save the changes, inadvertently also making changes to other fields.
I have a simple EditItem Template within a Formview that I am using to add a record to a table. There is one field in the form that I would like to assign a variable to. I cannot figure it out. I do not see any properties in VS2008 that allow me to assign the value.
The value that I am assigning is an item number, wich is the primary key in the table that I supply on the form.
When it gets inserted in the db the fields are blank except for volume and area so I think I have done something wrong when I'm trying to find the controls.
I have grid view control that includes a dropdown control in a template field.I wish to execute some code when the value is changed in the dropdown list. Can't figure out how to capture this event though?
I have a field that is based on asp.net membersip UserID. I can bind this to dropdowns which aren't in a detailsview just fine, but for somereason my code isnt working for finding the control properly.I have the following in detailsview.databound (where it was suggested to be placed)
I am using FindControl to get a hyperlink but it only works on the first page. It works fine until I click on another page number in the pager. Then the hyperlink is nothing. This is the hyperlink.
I am trying to target a control in a Detailsview in my codebehind, however I am getting an error "Name "control" is not declared" for example, i have a FileUpload field in the edit template of the detailsview, which I am trying to access as
FileField.PostedFile.SaveAs("directory")
I also tried adding a reference to the Detailsview id such as DetailsView1.FileField.PostedFile.SaveAs("directory")
I am using a CustomValidator to compare two textbox control values in the form view. These values are not required but must be compared if a valuue is entered. The same two controls are defined in both Edit Item Template and Insert Item Template. The formview default mode is Edit.
The javascipt for the custom validator works when in Edit mode. However, when the form view is Insert, the javascript throws an error of NullReferenceException. how I can adjust my code so that the client-side javascript works for both Edit and Insert mode?
The form view is in a content page. The script is in the Head content placeholder

I am using a Gridview to Edit, Delete, and Insert (thru the footer). I am tryng to usr required field validationg a column called qty .When I insert a record through footer validating is working fine.(Add button in footer template)
But when I edit a record and it is validating both footertemplate and edititemtemplate.
I have a DetailsView control where I use templatefields. One of them are textcontrol tempatefield and dropdownlist templatefield.
What I want to so is, when I select let's say "Dollar" value in DropDown list, textcontrol text to be assigned "USD". Basically, text property of textcontrol to be asggined based on dropdownlist selected value.

I have used the gridview in 3.5 framework to dispaly a report ,In grid view i have used an Image button as Edit,While clicking on that Edit Button The row data fields in gridview likename ,Address etc have to populate in the Textboxes (Not in the Grid view row I am giving entry form in the same page )all the textboxes must be in editable mode
i have used an login control for the users who have not logged in and defined login verification method on the click event of the button but while excuting i do get an error

I have a gridview with a template field column. In the edittemplate of that column i have a textbox. In the next column of the gridview i have a button. When i click the button i need to find the value of the before mentioned textbox. I do it like this:
gridview1.selectedrow.findcontrol("textbox1"). This sometimes work just fine and without a problem but sometimes it seems it can't find that control and throws a null reference object. The error it's random like i said, sometimes just work and other just don't work...
I would like to find controls in the detailsview control placed in the EmptyData Template of the gridview. I am trying to create Insert new record for the gridview control.
1. If there are existing records in the table - works fine and sets my two values: I placed Detailsview and Insert Button in the footer of the gridview. I needed to set the values of two fields. When I click on the Insert button it saves new record and sets the field with the value (code attached - works fine). I also have a popup extender that opens detailsview - this works just fine.
2, If ther are not records in the table - saves record but cannot find and set controls on the detailsview Same thing setup in the EmptyData Template. The record is saved but I cannot Find and set the field value on the control.
