A gridview is having 96 fields/columns retrieving data from an xml file.I need to gridlevel horizontal scrolling from 3 rd column keeping first two columns freeze .While scrolling horizontally (e.g. left to right), The column header have to move horizontally. Kindly guide me for the same. I got the scrollbars but now my issue is how to freeze first two columns of a gridview(for comparing values in one column with other column values)

I recently applied a javascript code from article "Dynamically freeze ASP.net Gridview header using Javascript" found here, ASP Snippets Article, to my page. The javascript works great, but somehow, it's overriding my CSS code for the headers. When I refresh the page, I can see the headers with my CSS in place for just a fraction of a second before it is replaced with generic styling. I am not a javascript person, so really can't troubleshoot the problem. I have a style sheet with the following code.

Now I have another search panel in which If i click on a particular item the corresponding item in the listview gets selected. But the problem is that the item gets selected but the user cannot view it if its way down on the list.I also want the scrollbar to move in order to let the user show the selected item.

I have a GridView with 5 fields. Only two of the fields are edittable (the others are READONLY).
I have an UpdateCommand as follows

The issue is I want the PLAYERID GV column to be READONLY but I get a runtime error when updating if the PLAYERID is READONLY.
I get the error "

ie if I set AutoGenerateColumns=false and define Template Field, Sorting is not done. Can Anyone tell me how to sort a Gridview when AutoGenerateColumns is set to false and Template Field is defined?
I'm working on a website to showcase some of my bird photography, using ASP.NET 2.0 and C# with a SQLServerExpress backend.What I have right now is a ListBox bound to my database that displays a list of common names of birds and when the user clicks on an item in the listbox the main image on the page is changed to the image for that bird. For style reasons I want the listbox to always be a fixed size and because I specify the size (using CSS) a vertical scrollbar appears. My problem is that I want to provide my own images of arrows that go above and below the box such that when the user hovers over an arrow the box scrolls slowly and when the user clicks an arow the box scrolls quickly. Finally, my main problem is that I want to get rid of the ugly default vertical scrollbar that comes with ListBox.
Can you guys help me figure out how to do this? I don't mind using a different control other than ListBox as long as it is available in ASP.NET 2.0 and as long as it can be bound to my db. I also don't mind using JavaScript (which I'm sure I'll end up doing for the hover effects). Right now I'm fooling around with subclassing the ListBox control but I've never subclassed a control before so I'm somewhat clueless.
I am using Visual Studio 2010 where I have a gridview that displays many columns and because of that the user has to scroll horizontally in order to view the rest of the columns. Is there a way to split the columns so that each row will contain some columns and some columns underneath them? For example, I have 10 columns where each row will show 5 columns with their headers and the other 5 columns below with their headers.
View 2 RepliesI need to create a grid where the users can see all the memberships, and have a line of checkboxes for each existing role, and be able to check/uncheck roles to allow access authority.
I managed to build a datatable that adds columns and displays them properly, but I have not been able to programatically add columns to the grid based on whatever roles are stored in the system.
I can display the users and their roles by just specifying AutoGenerateColumns="true" when I do that, the checkboxes are grayed out, and the users do not want to have to click a button to open them up.
Here is what I can't figure out.
How do I programatically add columns to the GridView? I have some code in Pageload, but it doesn't work, so it is commented out?How do I turn on all the rows for the entire GridView to edit mode? How do I access the column name for the role they just checked so that I know what to add with the ystem.Web.Security.Roles.AddUserToRole(UserName, Role)?

I want to get the values from a cell in a gridview so can I do that without selecting a row. Its something like this I have a drop downmenu and based on the value selected in the dropdown menu I have to change the presentation of gridview without going to the database.
