Problem.
How do I force the used to change whatever value that the dropdownlist contains after they make their initial selection from the primary dropdownlist; except the default value of "make a selection".
Gridview, contains a checkbox which drives whether a selected row is inserted into the data base. The databind in done using an ObjectDataSource on the presentation page, not in the code behind.
I have a GridView control hooked up to a datasource that I allow row editing on. I use the standard edit/save/delete buttons that point to the Update, Cancel, and edit GridView commands.
I would like to add an additional button, "Next" inline with the save/cancel button. This would function the same as the save button, but would also add an additional row to the grid, and place that row into edit mode. To do this, I've added code to the Updated event of the GridView, which adds a new record to the db, rebinds the grid, and sets the editindex. This seems work, but the grid does not actually return in edit mode. I stripped out the new record code and simply left the statement to set the editindex, but the grid still will not stay in edit mode.
Is it possible to force the grid to stay in edit mode in this scenario? It appears that unless you set the cancel property of the GridViewUpdatedEventArgs, the Grid is going to flip to view mode. I don't want to set the cancel property in this case, because I want the GridView to trigger my datasource object to save the record.
If this doesn't work, it appears that I will need to allow the update to occur normally, return to the client, and then send another server request to add the record. I'd prefer not to do it this way, I would like to perform the necessary operations in context of one roundtrip.

Now presume that I'm looking at this page, and another user has come along and made some changes to the underlying data, and I now go and click the edit button to edit D...
The edit method is pretty straight forward:

It's exactly the same, but the data is now changed. Once the UI updates, the user is now in edit mode against row C.Not what the user expected or wanted. How should this scenario be handled to avoid such an issue?
I have a custom hierarchical data source based on the msdn example [URL] An event can be raised in the DataSourceView. If that occurs, I want to display a message on the web page.
The example is that I have a page with a TreeView control which uses a custom hierarchical datasource. If the user selects a node that they are not allowed to select, the underlying datasource will throw and error.
I want to capture this and add a message to the page. The Page_Error event is raised, but there are no eventargs.
Anybody know how to capture such an event?
An alternative approach, although not quite specific enough, is to set a flag during the datasource load event (indicating the datasource is loading) and test for this flag in the Page_Error routine.

I have a link button in my gridview. It is populating correctly; however, being I am populating the values in the gridview using "Eval()" method I don't know how to get the value of the selected Link Button (which is only selected by a user actually clicking
the Link Button).
The user can click on the text directly (instead of showing the "Select" auto created). I want to be able to capture the item they have clicked on's Text property.

This code works perfectly fine , depending on the ishyperlink flag in the database...specific cells in the grid are made clickable and then redirected to page2.aspx My Issue: I need to capture which specific cell in which specific grid the user has clicked. store some information in sessions based on the cell clicked and use that information in page2.aspx.
