Forms Data Controls :: How To Get The Current Row In GridView Row Command Event
Apr 28, 2010
i use a wizard in my page the first step contains a Gridview.
[Code]....
It runs very well until i use the Gridview paging. In this case i get following error-message."Unable to cast object of type 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.Wizard' to type 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.GridViewRow'." If i use this code to get the gridview-rowDim row As GridViewRow = _ grid.Rows(Convert.ToInt32(e.CommandArgument)) paging runs, but i cannot use the commandDropdown.This is my control. I use commanddorpdown [Code]....
I have downloaded the Control form this page.

why the gridview RowDataBound event fires during a select command. I only expect it to run when the gridview is being populated with data. Is there some way to stop it from running when the select command is triggered?

I have made Gridview and it has 5 columns.
Col1 Col 2 Col3 Col4 Col5
I try to make like below:
Col1 Col2
col2 col3 col4 col5
First column is as it is. But next 4 columns I try to make merge from Gridview Row Databound Event. It's working.
I have a link button in column1 and when I click on it, Row Command is fire and at that time the merge is gone. And Last row comes in footer row.

how would i do my Gridview delete command like a update command?
im using a datasource... and my delete command is like my update command... so i can change the status into "INACTIVE"...
DeleteCommand="UPDATE ACCOUNT_MAINTENANCE SET am_status = 'INACTIVE' WHERE (accmain_no = @accmain_no)"
UpdateCommand="UPDATE [ACCOUNT_MAINTENANCE] SET [account_type] = UPPER(@account_type), [min_deposit] = @min_deposit, [min_capital] = @min_capital WHERE [accmain_no] = @accmain_no"

The grid view row command does not execute on my production environment. This is a intermittant issue. I am not able to reproduct the exact steps but it does occur too often.
I have a load balanced environment with 2 identical servers in the farm. The servers are running on IIS 7.5
The other scenario in which I observe this is when the session times out. In that case the grid view events are lost. But this scenario is not a priority for me. I need to resolve the first scenario.
Any help on this or some useful links on "Understanding the session" or "understanding the complete event firing and execution" is welcome.
An update: we are overriding the PageStatePersister as:
[Code]....

I'm creating a confirm delete like popup with an iframe to use along with a gridview. When you click delete on a gridview row, the iframe shows up and asks if you would like to delete the associated image as well from the server. It works perfectly the first time I delete a row. After that whenever I click select or edit on a new row, it calls the rowdeleting event from the last deleted entry every time. I'm stumped.Here's the Sub:
'// Event that Occurs when the Delete Button is Clicked //'
Protected Sub Confirm_Delete(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As GridViewDeleteEventArgs) Handles GridView1.RowDeleting
Dim file_name As Array = Split(GridView1.Rows.Item(e.rowIndex).Cells.Item(10).Text, "/")
If file_name.getLength(0) = 1 Then
file_name = Split(GridView1.Rows.Item(e.rowIndex).Cells.Item(10).Text, "")
End If
Dim fn As String = file_name(file_name.getLength(0) -1)
fn = replace(fn, ",", "%2C")
fn = replace(fn, " ", "%20")
Dim url As String = Me.Master.get_root_url & "CrimeBulletinProject/ConfirmDelete.asp?img_list=" & fn & "~!"
confirm_delete_frame.Attributes.Add("src", url)
confirm_delete_frame.Attributes.Add("style", "display: block; left: 50%")
End Sub
Here's the GridView:

i'm trying to issue a select command in my app soi could execute the command and retrive the data into a string variable.the problem is that this command is overloaded with DataSourceSelectArgument and i can't figure out what it is.i'm using sql server express and when issue a n insert command for example sq.Insert(); i have no problems.this the command that's holding me:
SqlDataSource sq = new SqlDataSource();
sq.ConnectionString = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["CustomerDatabaseConnectionString1"].ToString();
sq.SelectCommandType = SqlDataSourceCommandType.Text;
sq.SelectCommand = "SELECT * FROM CustomerTable where customerID = 1";
string result = sq.Select(some overload that's stopping me);

Working in Asp.net 4.5 + Kentico CMS
I have Repeater in usercontrol and Inside the repeater i have 1 itemtemplate in which i have ImageButton on it. Also i am handling the Click event on the Imagebutton using ItemCommand of the Repeater. when i click the image button it fires the item_command on the codebehind which is fine. But if i use !Ispostback on page load to stop loadinghte databind event again which is in pageload, it's not firing the Item_Command Event.
If i remove the !Ispostback from my page it's doing the pageload event againt which has calling my databind method and then it calls the Item_commands event. Wondering is this kentico issue or usercontrol problem?

I am using this command to get the value of a particular cell in the GridView: Question: Do you know why I do not get a value in strValue ?
There is definitely value in the grid.
protected void grid_RowCommand(object sender, GridViewCommandEventArgs e)
{
//proceed only if the Details button is clicked...
if (e.CommandName.ToLower() == "details")
{
//Get the row index selected...
int index = Convert.ToInt32(e.CommandArgument);
GridViewRow row = grid.Rows[index];
string strValue = grid.Rows[index].Cells[1].Text;
}

I have added a Command Field in a Gridview Dynamically. And I have added the OnClick Attribute in the
RowDataBound event
[code]...
and ProceedAction() function have confirmation message. When i click the Delete button, the confirmation message is shown. But the Row Command is not fired (even if i click Ok/ cancel in the confirmation message).
I have analysised Little bit. If i have '\' or '{, }' or '*' in the javascript function, the behavior is improper (as i said above). If i remove it, it is working fine.
Since i need to ask two confirmation, i need to put '{, }' in my javascript. So how can i resolve the above issue.
