Forms Data Controls :: How To Programmatically Build A Template For Datalist
Sep 5, 2010
i want to write a page contain an datalist and several ObjectDataSource. The datalist will chose ObjectDataSource according to QuerryString passed to that page.
I remember I read a tutorial at asp.net. The tutorial is to add a row to display the category name before a different category starts in a GridView that displays products ordered by category. But I cannot find the tutorial anymore.
I have a datalist in my site which displays html tables filled with data from a sqldatasource. I need to be able to remove one column from the table and put it back again (including the tags in my table which pull the data from the datasource e.g. <%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem,"Forecast1") %>) I need to be able to do this because I have options to change the sqldatasource query, and I need to alter the table to keep it compatible with the query. What is the best way to do this?
I have a gridview to which I'm adding template fields programmatically. Each of the template fields have a textbox. I would like to make this text box have 2-way binding to a database column. see below code.
[Code]....
I'm calling the above class as follows
[Code]....
How can I make the text box such that when I edit the text, this change is reflected in the database as well?
I have a website developed in C# with Visual Studio 2010. I am using datalist to list the documents for monthly meetings. Each monthly meeting has 6 datalists representing each section of the monthly meeting. I am using row filters to filter the data for the respective month and section. I am using the Membership Provider model and am displaying the documents for the respective user. When a user clicks on the document link the document is marked and displayed as "read". This is all working as it should in my existing code.
However, I would like to be able to display this data programmatically. My oldest data is December 2009. I would like to dipslay this data programmatically based on todays's date and then looping back until December 2009. Today, I update the web form and the code behind on a monthly basis and I know that there is probably a better way to do this. I think this can be done but I am not certain if it can be done with row filters, because amongst other things I do not know how I can dynamically generate the datalist ids so that I can then bind the row filtered data.
Below is a sample of my code for one month of data.
I have an application that I would like to be able to allow the user to modify multiple characteristics of each record within a datagrid.
Most characteristics require data to be entered in a text box but some a check box would be more appropriate.
My question is does a gridview column need to have all the same item template controls? or could I read from the database the control type and dynamically alter the template control for each row as it loads?
I have the following line to display a piece of data and I want to know how I can format the output.
Text='<%# Eval("DOH") %>'
The data list displays the correct data, but I want to format it. The output I want is just a small date format instead of date and time. I have tried every combination of a format function I can think of, but can't seem to make it work. Am I stuck with the raw format provided by the database? I wouldn't think so, but maybe that is the case.
expected output should be 02/15/2011 instead of 02/15/2011 09:45:
According to the docs. [URL] There is an Separator Template for a DataList. However, when I use the built-in tool tip help, it does not show. If I manually type in a separator template it crashes my design time environment completely...
Not sure what I'm missing here. I tried an imagetemplate and a line but thats not really working because I need the image in the data field area not the headertext area.
I have a test page that I am trying to add a custom control (articleWUC.ascx) and set its properties to some results from SQL. I followed several guides including this [URL] with no luck.
My test page includes two data lists one that works without dynamic creation via custom templates and the other using custom templates.
I want to show a message when there's no data in my datalist. I found the following, but, I get an error on the bool. If you have another way to do this, great, but, I'd also like to try to do it this way as a learning experience.
I need to change this label to a link that will cause C# code behind to:
tbxCG_ID.Text = Eval("CG_ID") and then call this: protected void ListBox1_SelectedValueChanged(object sender, EventArgs e)
I keep creating a DataList1_SelectedIndex_Changed event created when I double click the label or a link button. What is the code needed? I can see the Eval("CG_ID") value with the label but I don't know how to get it into tbxCG_ID.Text and fire the ListBox1 event.
I need to generate a gridview with dynamic columns, on each cell I need a button that inserts-deletes a relationship in a database. The relationship is of course between what is represented by each column and row. I decided to use a gridview and create templatefields which I add programmatically to the table. I successfully got to that point but when i decided to raise a click event from the buttons or a rowcommand from the gridview I could not do it. I´m looking into doing this with button fields right now but I´m curious on how this can be accomplished?
I want to raise an checkbox check-changed event but its not firing :( . It Dosent raise even an command event.
My Requirement :
My Requirement is that i have a Datalist with header checkbox in headertemplate and a child checkbox in itemtemplate and a gridview control. Checking and unchecking will update the gridview control.
I have a datalist that is populated via and SqlDataSource. Code is VB
I am trying to extract two Values from the Item Templete and add them together. Then I want to add a new Label to the item template with the sum of the two added values.
I am able to to this using a GridView but no success with the datalist
I have one checkbox control in Datalist Header and some controls in Item Template. On click of the "Submit" button in the page I should capture the state of controls from Datalist. For Item template I can get the values from datalist.Items property. How can I get the state of checkbox in "Header Template"?
I have a formview with various templates set up for a database that has 255 columns. I need the insertitemtemplate to pre-fill values based upon a specific selection by the user (just like the edit item template) but when the template is switched to insertitemtemplate every text box is cleared. The idea is that a new entry is usually made by making minor changes to an existing entry. With 255 fields I don't want to require the user to enter every field when only three or four need to change.
I have a gridview which the columns are created programmatically.
When a button is click i will clear all columns and add the columns that I want. Im adding a boundfield which is not a problem. When I add a template field, I must add also the item template which is my problem.
How can I add a item template in the template field I created which is binded in my datasource. Also what event handler should I use to do this.
Here's the part of my code:
[Code]....
Someone know how can I bind a label item template from the datasource. The label item template should be firstname + middlename + lastname.
If im not doing it programatically, it will be just concatenating eval(). But how can create item template and bind it programmatically?
Setting up the editItem template of a gridview. I have a template field with a dropdown list for editing. When the gridview goes into edit mode the dropdown list is displayed with all the right options but the current value of the field (pre-editing) is not the selected value of the dropdown list? How do I make that happen? I have a couple fields where the editItem template will use a dropdown list and I'm sure a user will not realize those values have changed and they will just edit what they intended to edit and save the changes, inadvertently also making changes to other fields.
The problem is that i have a search page. Access Database holding the information. I have a Access Datasource on the page with a Datalist to show the data. I need to find a way on setting it up to says "Sorry no results found" when the is no results. i am unsure on how to do this though.
Context: In an ASP.NET application, I need the behavior of the ItemTemplate / EditItemTemplate that the DataList control provides. However, I only need one item in my control, which makes the DataList seems like overkill.
Question: Is there a control in ASP.NET made to store a single item that has the template content behavior of the DataList and DataGrid? Should I use a DataList for only one item?
In our current ASP.Net Webforms application we have several composite/template server controls that only exist for a common look and feel. For example, we have a panel control that has a title, a place for buttons related to the contents of the panel, and of course the contents. How is this best accomplished in MVC? RenderPartial doesn't get done what I need here. Should I still be using the same controls, but just on a view page? These controls don't really do anything on postback, they are only there for a common look and feel.
More Info:
We have a control in Webforms that implements ICompositeControl. We have a few properties on this control like Panel (type Panel), Buttons (again type Panel which would hold buttons) and a property Title of type string. Visually it looks like
