Forms Data Controls :: How To Update A Gridview Footer With A Mathematical Operation
Jan 12, 2011
I have two textBox, one button and one gridview. In one texbox, I enter a value, click the button to add this entry to the gridview and the footer is computing the sum as i add more entries to the gridview.
I also have a textbox outside the gridview that will hold an amount, now I want to perform an operation like...(txtOutsideGridview - gridviewEntry1 - gridviewEntry2), and display the result of this operation inside the footer of the gridview, instead of the sum. How do I go about doing this?
So far all I have been able to do is sum up the total of entries within the Gridview, but that is not my desired operation...here is what my current code looks like
I want to do one thing that when i edit the gridview then it will not go back to main form for editing.it will remain there in the form for the row editable.
i-e when i edit any row then it will be editable on the gridview.
in my case, It is the windows service which in running the long running insert/update on a table and I need to cancel the operation from my ASP.NET application. In the above link Burnsys suggests that one should kill the Sql server session. Is that really only way and a goood practice to do this? Also, in the same poset can use SqlCommand.Cancel to cancel. However, I am not sure how can I cancel the command from the windows service from ASP.NET application.
I have 3 buttons that change the Information being displayed in my Gridview (Previous, Today, Forward). Now management wants to SUM the Date's information by column, I have figured out how to do this by changing the BoundField to a TemplateField and then add a FooterTemplate with a SQL DataSource. When I Press either the Previous or Forward button the data does not change in my Sum'd Footer column.
i have a repeater with a button in the footer template which i want to be able to update any of the items that are added (update quantites/totals/delete the item).
however the 'UpdateOrderDetails' event never fires when the button is clicked.
I have a customized gridvew i.e. grvResult. There is a textbox and a InsertButton in the footer.
If there is a data populated into gridview it is showing GridView footer and inserting data but if there is no data in gridview then its footer also not visible.
I have tried in two ways to make footer visible but it is showing following error:
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
i have a gridview to disply the customers forecast details with quantity. i need to have the quantity total in footer of the gridview. how can we do this in gridview..
but in the output for footer its created one more column at the end but i dont want to create a new column for this footer because all other detail cells are empty. i want to show the Footer without affect any other columns.if i include the footer code in the mid of the bound field then also its created a new column so the details cells are empty,
After displaying a summary data in Gridview Column Footer in ASP.Net...is there a way that i can then use that summary(total information) in other parts of the application? For instance, like adding the total from the GridView footer to a different data that appears in a textbox somewhere else within the app?
So if i have a GridView like this
entry1 10 entry2 20 Total 30 <----this is the info in the footer
then add this footer total to a total from another control? How can i get this done? How do i go about using that total from the gridview in my app?
I've been trying to get the total of some columns in my GridView. I used the code in the MSDN and finally did this:
[Code]....
GVcm is the name of my gridview.I have a button that loads the gridview, but it does not show the total. I don't know if I have to call this method inside the ButtonClick Event, I'm still a noob with c# and asp.net.Other things that maybe you should know, I'm not using template fields, I don't know if that is the problem I'm using normal bounfields.
If I want to add the value of a GridView footer to say, the values in 3 textbox, and then put the summed up value in a 4th textbox called txtSum...how do i go about getting this done? Are there any examples out there that I can take a look at?
So to further elaborate on the task I need to complete...the textboxes do not reside within the GridView. I want to take the total within the footer of the GridView and add it to values that are within textboxes which are located in other locations of the page, then displaying the result in another textBox that is also located somewhere else on the page. Meaning, there are 5 different controls located at several locations on the page which are involved.
How can i add a textBox to the footer of a gridview? I just want to add one testBox which would display the total of one of the gridview columns. Are there any examples out there that I can take a look at? My google search did not return any.
Here is what my Gridview looks like right now...
[Code]....
Basically i want my grid view to look like this:
First Entry 20 Second Entry 50 Fifth Entry 30 Total (Footer) 100 <== this in a textbox.
So only one Textbox is required in the whole GridView..
I am having a gridview with some button column. I have written some functionality in code behind for the button click. How can i display a confirm dialog in mid of the button click functionality and based on users response(Yes or No from dialog) i need to continue the remaining funtionality in the button click event.
On my aspx page, I'm having troubles when I have an update panel within the footer template of a gridview. It appears to be an intermitent problem that occurs on subsequent postback when you do a delete command in the gridview. The first delete command always goes through fine (first postback). Clicking on another row to delete on the gridview (or any other button on the form) triggers this error: An error has occurred because a control with id 'ctl00$SupremeContent$grdLineNumbers$ctl09$ctl00' could not be located or a different control is assigned to the same ID after postback. If the ID is not assigned, explicitly set the ID property of controls that raise postback events to avoid this error.
If you click the back button in the browser, then click on another page, then come back to this page, you can delete another record. Another attempt to delete another record brings you back to the above problem. Thectl00$SupremeContent$grdLineNumbers$ctl09$ctl00 changes each time you delete, come back to the page and delete. If I disable the udpate panel, there's no errors. The reason I have the update panel is so that the user can select the relevant pipe specification (they see multiple columns using a textbox, drop down extender, panel and gridview) without the form's data being reset by the embedded gridview's selected index changed event. I've been trying to figure this out for a month now. Oh ya, this form is within a master page.
Here's the gridview code:
[Code]....
And this is the event that handles the delete command:
I have a simple add form on the page and below it is its gridview with edit and delete buttons. Everything works fine, but when i click on edit on a particular row/record, it changes to edit row but i want the record to be edited in the original add form (which is above the gridview).
I am able to edit a record on the gridview but i want it to be edited in the add form. Is there any particular way to do this? I came across formview concept but not sure if i am able to do that with it.
i have used gridview to display data from the database and in the gridview i want to add two buttons CONFIRM and CANCEL...the problem is when i am addind two buttons they are added in another columns footer....how to align them in the center of the gridview...
I am dynamically binding dataset to a gridview(No Columns at design time) .I need to show Totals for some of the dynamically generated columns in the footer.
I have a grid that contains a footer row conating the textboxes to insert data. The problem is that when there is no row in the the grid the header and the footer does not get displayed. Is there any way to show header and footer when there is no row in the grid?
I have implemented column tolals in the footer of my gridview using the technicque described in this article [URL] .
Now I would like to have a total of the 7 column totals that are displayed in the footer. Can anyone tell me how to do this. I would like to display this in a label or an addition row in the footer if that is possible.
