Is there a way to perform a mathematical equation on a field which has been EVAL'd in a gridview?
[Code]....
Is it possible to perform mathematical operations within a .aspx View.? for example..lets say i have a total number of pencils of say 100. and i have 12 students on a data table with his or her name, and the number of pencils she has
Student Name: Pencil #
John 10
Sarah 12
Linus 19
But while rendering the view i want to calculate the Percentage of pencils one student possesses out of the total. (John would have 10% of the total 100 pencils)
How would i just perform this basic math operation, and encode the result into the view. I know i need to store the 100, and divide by each count of pencils for each student within the foreach loop. but i keep getting 0. This seems very elementary i know.. Help would be very appreciated. Google seems to have nothing for me.
I have two textBox, one button and one gridview. In one texbox, I enter a value, click the button to add this entry to the gridview and the footer is computing the sum as i add more entries to the gridview.
I also have a textbox outside the gridview that will hold an amount, now I want to perform an operation like...(txtOutsideGridview - gridviewEntry1 - gridviewEntry2), and display the result of this operation inside the footer of the gridview, instead of the sum. How do I go about doing this?
So far all I have been able to do is sum up the total of entries within the Gridview, but that is not my desired operation...here is what my current code looks like

While retrieving table data in grid view. How can I particularly select a row and perform any button action on that selected row. I'm new to asp.net.
View 2 RepliesI have the following gridvew that contains this information below
Type_id quantity
Red 2
Blue 3
Green 6
Now, I would like to add a small button next to the type_id, so that whenever the user clicks on it, it reduces the quantity by 1 through the use of query, I wrote. see description below
Type_id quantity
(button) Red 2
(button) Blue 3
(button) Green 6
I have a gridview with checkboxlist for each record. I was updating each record individually based on that check, but now they want it to be a bulk update instead of individual. So i have commented out my individual update and added a button below the gridview and created my button event, how to loop thru the gridview and find the checked records and call my update procedure.
i found something kinda close to what i need, but its in VB and not sure how to convert that to C#

I'm doing projects related to education, and I do not know how display mathematical formula? And Editor or component support Math Equation?. I'm using ASP.NET MVC 2.0 .
View 2 RepliesI have placed Chekc box in Gridview when i select the check box can perform 2 operations simultaniously one is entire recordset is populated into form fileds and second one is can delete the selected record permanently from database table.following code for this fuctionality.
GridviewCode
<asp:GridView ID="GVData" runat="server" Height="75px" Width="76px" CaptionAlign="Top"
Font-Size="Medium" EnableModelValidation="True" [code]....
if it's possible to use the Gridview (SQLDatasource) UpdateCommand to actually perform an INSERT and not a true update.Here's the dealUsing a Select statement in my SQLDatasource,I'm retrieving records for which there are no History records for a specified period.(Essentially, I'm asking "Show me all records for which there are no historical records within a specified range").I'm using that result set to feed my GridView. Basically, I'm displaying all I need to know about the insert records sans one piece of info.When the user choose the "Edit" button, the row goes into edit mode.Using a template field, I've created a drop down box to allow the user to input the status of the data for that particular time period.When they click the save button,the idea is that the UpdateCommand will fire.However, when I click the save button (in edit mode),I get a postback error that tells me System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Must declare the scalar variable "@EQP_PK".

Is there any solution in ASP.NET/C# or Jquery for writing math equations as MathML is not very well supported by browsers.
View 2 RepliesI am using a GridView Control to display multiple fileds with 0's and 1's.
I am using template fields where CheckBoxes are used.
Where exactly and how do I apply the Logic to get a checked CheckBox when field Value=1 and unchecked CheckBox when field Value=2 .Also some times to be able to write a YES where fieldValue=1 or NO where filedValue=0
Do I apply this logic using asp or C#? How?
I have 2 fields in my gridview one called ScriptType the other BagNo, when a user click the edit button, I would like the BagNo filed to be disabled if the ScriptType field is = "TTA" and enabled otherwise. How can I do this?..something along these lines see below..I am using VB..

how to perform Edit/Update & cancel in the grid view .. already the data is there in the gridview
[code]....
In a details or form view I have a number of entries from a database
For example:
Pass-Attempts, Passes-Completed, AvgYds, TdPercentage
If I want to perform a simple calculation on these values, and then display them in the same details/form view
Such as:
QBRating =((Passes-Completed/Pass-Attempts)*100)+(AvgYds*5)+(TDPercentage*4)
With the ideal result being:
Pass-Attempts, Passes-Completed, AvgYds, TdPercentage, QBRating on the same Details/Form view.
So basically I need to programmatically get at those values, perform calculations on them and them display them back in the same control.
I have a gridview that is inside a tabcontainer. In this gridview, I have a commandfield that shows an edit button. It also uses an ItemTemplate to display read-only data and an EditItemTemplate containing textboxes for updating rows. Clicking the "Edit"button works as it triggers the RowEditing event. In this event, I assign the new edit index and rebind the datatable to the gridview. It also displays all controls declared in the EditItemTemplate when the "Edit" button is clicked. But for some reason, when I hit the "Update" button, the RowUpdating event doesn't fire unless I set CausesValidation="false". But with this setting, I am still unable to update a row in the gridview. It seems that gridview's editindex is reset to -1 as I can't seem to find any controls in my EditItemTemplate.
When run in debug mode, I noticed that the gridview's editindex resets to -1 even before the TabContainer's ActiveTabIndexChanged is fired and that the gridview's state changes to read-only as I can only find controls in the ItemTemplate in the RowUpdating event. There's nowhere else in my code that I rebind the gridview's datasource except in the RowEditing event. I have also watched the RowCreated and RowDataBound events but they both don't do any rebinding of the data to the gridview.
I am in a point where I want to place the textboxes in the ItemTemplate in order to perform row updates as I can't find anything on the web that can lead me to solve this problem
I have a DetailsView on the page and I have made one of the fields a TemplateField. In the EditItemTemplate and InsertItemTemplate I have a DropdownList that is databound to a table in my Sql Server database. I wanted to add an initial value to the DropdownList
namely "- select -" .
I set the AppendDataBoundItems property to true and added the initial value as a ListItem.Markup of the DropdownList
<asp:DropDownList ID="DropDownList_HP" runat="server"
AppendDataBoundItems="True" DataSourceID="SqlDataSource_HP" [code]...
This works fine for new input. The problem is however that the database already has records that were entered through a Windows Application and many of these records has a null value in this field and exceptions are thrown when I tried to open these records
and the system tried to set the SelectedValue of the DropdownList.After some more searching I found this help
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms366709.aspx
So I changed the ListItem in the DropDownList markup to the following:
<asp:DropDownList ID="DropDownList_RefHospDV4" runat="server"
AppendDataBoundItems="True" DataSourceID="SqlDataSource_RefHosp" [code]...
This now solved the problem of opening a record where the value is null in the database, BUT now the RequiredFieldValidator is not validating anymore to make sure that a databound item is selected for this field and not the initial value "- select -". So basically now it is not checking anymore to see if valid input has been entered for the DropDownList and it accepts "- select -" thus it acts as if the field is not a required field anymore.
In short what is required is that I want to make sure that the user enters a valid selection in the DropDownList, but it must also cater for old records that do not have this field entered yet so that those old records can be opened in the DetailsView .Opening Old records (with null in that field):When these old records are opened in the DetailsView the DropDownlist should show "- select -" when the value in the database is null.
Saving records (old or new records):When saving the record in Insert mode or Update mode the RequiredFieldValidator should show that a valid input is not selected if the DropDownList is still on "- select -".
I have a grid view, and I add new column as a hyper link field, I want the navigationURL for this field to be Pageexample.aspx?ID=other field value like this

is that possible ?
how you have implemented mathematics type captcha in comments sections in URL...I like to implement this type of captcha security, its more clean and user friendly.

View 1 RepliesI have the code below that works fine, but I need to have more than one field using the same command.
[Code]....
I have a table named RECIPE which is linked to an other table name RECIPE_STATUS
In RECIPE table I have a field named Status_Id which contains the name of the Status which is fetch from the RECIPE_STATUS table based on this ID.
The RECIPE table sample information are as follow :
ID Name Status_Id
====================
1 Test1 0
2 Test2 1
3 Test3 2
The RECIPE_STATUS entries are as follow:
ID Name
========
0 Locked
1 Running
2 Free
From an ASP.net page I would like that my user is capable of changing the RECIPE_STATUS from a given recipe. For that I have a DataGrid which is bind to the RECIPE table.
But then what I would like is that the STATUS shown to my user to be the name Locked,Running or free depedning on the Id
How can I bound in my Datagrid the Recipe.Status to be bind to RECIPE_STATUS.Id ?
IN addition to that, If my user change the status for a given recipe, it should be properly save.
I want to hyperlink from a field in one gridview to a field in another gridview based on id. I've tried many ways but haven't seen success.
