Forms Data Controls :: Inner Gridview Not Visible In Code-behind Page?
Oct 20, 2010
Using vb.net/asp.net 2005.
I have an Outer gridview (called grdvOUTERGRIDVIEW) and an Inner Gridview (called grdvOUTERGRIDVIEW) and I am able to see and use the outer gridview in my codep-behind vb page however when I try to handle an event for the Inner gridview then I get the warning: "handles clause requires a withevents variable defined in the containing type or one of its base types".
After creating the inner gridview I closed the page out and re-opened it however still getting that error and not able to create the grdvINNERGRIDVIEW.RowDataBound event function like I am trying to do.
I have a customized gridvew i.e. grvResult. There is a textbox and a InsertButton in the footer.
If there is a data populated into gridview it is showing GridView footer and inserting data but if there is no data in gridview then its footer also not visible.
I have tried in two ways to make footer visible but it is showing following error:
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
I have a master/detail page using a gridview as the master, and a detailsview as the details. The gridview is set to select a record, and the detailsview picks up the ID and you can either edit that record, or add a new one.The detailsview is set up with various template fields, and if everything on the page is visible, it works OK.However, I wanted to hide the Gridview when the user in working with the detailsview. But if I do that, the detailsview doesn't update the record.
Whenever you turn off the visibility of a column in Gridview, on Edit, the value becomes null because its never bound. The only way I know of stopping this behavoir is to put it in the DataKeyName list. Is there any other way to prevent this? I have quite a few columns that will not be displayed in this "release" but I want there for future extensibility. Also, in some cases these values will be used for calculations but the user should not see them. Is there no toggle property for "non-visible" items to remain "unchanged" or something of the sort?
<asp:ButtonField Text="Void" ButtonType="Link" CommandName="Void" /> ' RowCommand Dim f_iIndex As Integer = Convert.ToInt32(e.CommandArgument) Dim f_oSelectedRow As GridViewRow = grdMeterCorrection.Rows(f_iIndex) Dim f_oCertIdCell As TableCell = f_oSelectedRow.Cells(11) Dim f_sCertId As String = f_oCertIdCell.Text.Trim If e.CommandName.ToLower = "void" Then Dim f_bVoidRet As Boolean = VoidCert(f_sCertId) End If
The problem is the CertId field in the GridView has visible set to false. I think this makes the value unaccessable to the RowCommand.
I have a Gridview with some template columns. Inside one of the columns, I have a ImageButton with a serverSide OnClick handler to show or hide a panel. And all the panels by default are hidden. What happens is that when I click the imageButton the first time the panel gets displayed, but if I click the same button, on the same row again, - where the panel is now visible - the panel doesn't hide itself. Here's what happens when the imageButton is clicked:
The example .aspx page below includes a grid containing two checkboxes. The first is hidden because its ItemTemplate.Visible is set to false. What is the cleanest way to avoid OnCheckChanged when the parent cell is not Visible?Paste sample below into new .aspx and run. Uncheck 'Visible' Click 'Test'Expected Results (since only the 'Visible' checkbox was changed):
Im into a situation, where, I need to embed linkbutton to gridview to display one field (TITLE) from database. It was done as I've added it in the itemtemplate. Now my situation is bit refined; I should add a text box and another linkbutton which should be disabled on page load and when ever I click that linkbutton which is displaying (TITLE) should make the textbox and another linkbutton visible by displaying corresponding values from the database in the textbox.
I'm trying to loop through a manually created row's controls in a gridview and set the visible property.
I can use findcontrol and it works fine and I don't have to loop. But there are a lot of controls, so I just wanna do it in a loop. But it never finds the control type I'm looking for. Here's my code:
I have a gridview that serves as a confirmation for user input in a previous form from a previous page. The grid is databound to a temporary table where I store the user's initial selections. The user can confirm what they had submitted, (which may be more than one row of information, up to three classes) or go back and change. When they hit the confirm button, I loop through the gridview and enter a row in a permanent database for each row in the gridview. This works great.
However, I don't want the gridview to display all of the columns that are actually in the temp database, because I'm carrying over 'usersubmitted, datesubmitted', etc, from the previous page for each class selected and this is redundant. (I do need to use all of the columns when they submit, however, to make a new row with complete information for each selected class in the permanent database) So, when I set the usersubmitted column visible false, for example, in the gridview, the dataset table adapter insert function fails with a data type mismatch error. I'm assuming becuase the column has to be visible, becuase when I make it visible again it works.
Can you loop through a gridview and call on cells in columns that are not visible?
The first page is like this:
the user fills out his info once in text boxes
name ____
address____
then selects up to three classes in dropdowns:
class one dropdown ...
class two dropdown....
for each dropdown, I insert name, address, class selected into a temp db Second page.
Gridview should display only classes selected, one row for each, and not
I have an Objectdatasource configured with Select, Insert, Update & Delete queries in a Dataset. This datasource is linked to my Gridview. I do not require all fields in the table to be displayed or updated in my grid so i have turned off the Visible property on several.
However, when i go into Edit mode and trigger the UPDATE to the database table, i get NULL values updated in the columns i set False for the Visible property.
How can i remove these columns from the GridView and the Edit mode and still have them UPDATE with their current values instead of being overwritten with NULL's?
i have asp.net chart control and gridview control in updatepanle my issue is when i click on edit link in gridview my chart control is not displaying but when i refresh my page iam to see it why is so??
I have a datapager connected to ListView1, and after 10 records have been added to the ListView any further input of records gets added to the next page, but this now current page is not displayed, so how do I get it to change to the current changed page automatically ?
(with a gridview control you could just use this below:-)
