Forms Data Controls :: Insert Product Attributes From Database To A Dropdownlist?

I have a gridview displaying the items in the shoping cart. I want the customer to be able to change the size of the item he or she has chosen to buy. I have therefore added a dropdownlist inside the edititemtemplate. I would like to display all sizes that are available in the database in the dropdownlist, but don't know what the sql-statement would look like.
The problem is it's display all the other item's attributes and not what kind of attributes that is left, for example Medium, Large, X-Large. how to implement the sizes into a dropdownlist and the sql-statement looked like this:
I`m making an online order project.Clients can chose products of some categories and than they can order it.
I have a database with tables: Clients,Products,Categories,Orders,A table that connects orders with products,etc etc.Now if a client cliks in category (for excample motherboard) than all kinds of motherboard will show in aspx page.

I have an existing, mature schema to which we need to add some new Product attributes. For example, we have Products.Flavor, and now need to add new attributes such as Weight, Fragrance, etc. Rather than continue to widen the Products table, I am considering a couple of other options. First is a new Attributes table, which will effectively be a property bag for arbitary attributes, and a ProductsAttributes table to store the mappings (and values) for a particular product's attributes. This is the Entity-Attribute-Value (EAV) pattern, as I've come to understand it. The other option is to add a new column to the Products table called Attributes, which is of type XML. Here, we can arbitrarily add attributes to any product instance without adding new tables.
What are the pros/cons to each approach? I'm using SQL Server 2008 and ASP.NET 4.0.

Databinding methods such as Eval(), XPath(), and Bind() can only be used in the context of a databound control. error when I place a drop down list into my instert item template of my listview, but I have the exact same control in my edit view and it works fine, any reason I am getting this error? I know what it means but why would it work in the edit mode, and not the insert mode?
I got this to populate the dropdownlist, but I'm not sure how to setup the codebehind to insert the selected value when I select it and hit "insert" in the detailsview.

The problem is that when I handle the iteminserting event. the e.values collection doesn't contain all of the fields I want to populate. How do I add the new fields to the list. I have a dropdownlist in the edititemtemplate of a detailsview. The dropdownlist is bound with an objectdatasource. The detailsview is bound to a seperate objectdatasource which connects it to the insert method. When the page loads the dropdownlist is bound properly. However, when I make a selection and select insert I get the following error: Could not find a property named 'DeptID' on the type specified by the DataObjectTypeName property in ObjectDataSource 'objCurrentProduct'. I've tried to remove the SelectedValue='<%# Bind("DeptID") %> attribute. I can then insert without an exception being thrown but the selected value of the dropdown is not recognized. I thought this one would be easy, but no go. What I am trying to do is the following: I have two DropDownLists in my InsertItemTemplate, each bound to its own datasource. After the fields in this form have been filled out and the ItemInserting event fires, I rebind the ListView to its datasource, but the DropDownLists turn out empty. I tried to bind them in the ItemInserting event and it seems they get filled, but nothing shows up in them when the page loads. I also tried to fill them in the ItemDataBound event, but the e.Item.ItemType == InsertItem doesn't do it.
I have a formview with insert function into "table1". In that formview i also have a dropdownlist listed with records from "table2". (This dropdown is of course instead of a textbox). get "table1" inserted when one of the field is from a different table?
here is my latest bit of insanity. I'm using a formview control. In the insert template, I'm grabbing applicable values from my AD to populate a dropdown list. I select the user I want to insert, enter the other pieces of info required for my request and click Insert. The query responds back stating that the userid is NULL. So the big question in my mind is how can I bind userid to the dropdownlist if I'm populating that from the code behind? Here's my code behind code for that list:
I have a Gridview which I'm populating through code behind. A couple of columns of the gridview I've set up to be drop down lists. What I want, is that when I run my Insert query, it takes the drop down list selected value, finds the appropriate ID and uses that ID as part of the insert query.

When I click submit I get a message that I cannot insert a Null into the field IntershipNumAvailable. This makes sense since I made this field a required field in the database.
How do I get the form to recognize that the user selected item is the one I want to write to the database?
What changes do I need to make here? Do I need to make changes to my parameter list?
I have a formview on a web page, set to insert mode as default. The form view is bound to a SQLDatasource. This datasource has a custom query written to select the details for this formview. The query joins two tables to provide relevant detail and not just an ID for one of the elements on the form view.
The first tabe contains information regarding projects and the second table contains detail regarding Resources. First table has the following definition:

when page is load in my datalist show all product from House_p table
and i bind dropdownlist from region table
here i want when users select their region from dropdown list in datalist show product that are in selected region according to house_info table
