Forms Data Controls :: How To Change A Textbox To Dropdownlist In Formview Insert Mode
Jan 5, 2010
I created a formview that I am using for data input (DefaultMode=Insert)
One of the objects I have is a text box (see below)
[code]....
When I click submit I get a message that I cannot insert a Null into the field IntershipNumAvailable. This makes sense since I made this field a required field in the database.
How do I get the form to recognize that the user selected item is the one I want to write to the database?
What changes do I need to make here? Do I need to make changes to my parameter list?
I use GridView & FormView to update a record. but when I click the "save" button, throw an except : FormView must be in the insert mode to insert a record. The record has been updated success, and I didn't change the mode of the FormView, how this error comes?
Formview1 datasource ID is SQLTest. When I click New on the form and go into insertmode, is there an easy way to auto file textboxID to the value of the NextIDNumber field ( field 9) from SQLTest datasource?
So, I'm trying to use form view in insert mode on a dedicated aspx page. So when a user clicks "Add New" from the main GridView page, it will take the user to an Insert.aspx page that will be in Insert mode ready to collect information.
Here's what I have so far, and all I get is a blank page when I try to run it.
I have a FormView at the very bottom of the page in insert/edit mode. When I click insert/update button, the whole page reload and the pointer does not keep within the Formview but go to the very top of the page far away from the desired FormView.
What can I do here to prevent cursor going outside the Formview ? Is it I can use update panel ? What and where I should use the tags ? Or there are other better way ?
I have a gridview on Contacts.aspx. From this page, I want an "Add New Contact" ImageButton to open the Formview in the ContactDetails.aspx page in Insert mode....
way to change a ListView into Insert Mode when linkbutton is not part of the ListView? Basically I have a button at the top of my page and when the user clicks the button I'd like to put the ListView into Insert Mode. I'm assuming that it's not working currently because the button is NOT part of the listview Layout Template.
<asp:LinkButton ID="lnkMachines" Text="Create New Machines" CommandName="Insert" runat="server" onclick="lnkMachines_Click" /> [code]...
I am simply trying to get a querystring value and pass it to a textbox in a formview with the default view set to edit mode.
Protected Sub fv_Detach_Engine_DataBound(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) Handles fv_Detach_Engine.DataBound If fv_Detach_Engine.CurrentMode = FormViewMode.Edit Then Dim tbx_IDProfileAccount As TextBox = TryCast(fv_Detach_Engine.FindControl("tbx_IDProfileAccount"), TextBox) If tbx_IDProfileAccount Is Nothing Then tbx_IDProfileAccount.Text = Request.QueryString("IDProfileAccount") End If End If End Sub
I have a formview with insert function into "table1". In that formview i also have a dropdownlist listed with records from "table2". (This dropdown is of course instead of a textbox). get "table1" inserted when one of the field is from a different table?
I guess I'm not sure exactly how or where to do what I need.
First off - here's what I need - - when the user clicks on the NEW button in the detailsView, I have the User.Identity.name captured in a variable and I need to set one of the textboxes (InsertItemTemplate) named 'txtNew' to that name.
I've tried using the ModeChanging (and ModeChanged) event: Dim dv As TextBox = CType(DetailsView1.FindControl("txtNew"), TextBox) If (e.NewMode = DetailsViewMode.Insert) Then ....
However, no matter what, 'dv' always shows as 'Nothing', so I can't change the text of it.
I'm using an edittemplate to handle both editing and inserting for a Formview. In Insert mode, the Identity parameter is not needed (and cannot be used in the parameter list). In Edit mode, I need the bound value to know which record to update. So, what I tried to do is set the Text property in the OnDataBinding method.
[Code]....
The result is that the field is bound for Insert anyway, shows up as a parameter, and my insert statement fails (since this extra field messes up the field order of the parameters). Plus, it is always null in Insert mode by definition.
Is the OnDataBinding method too late to clear the property? If so, where can I do this, since PageLoad is too early (the template has not loaded yet and I cannot Findcontrol the field. Or is there a better way to handle all this?
I have a formview on a web page, set to insert mode as default. The form view is bound to a SQLDatasource. This datasource has a custom query written to select the details for this formview. The query joins two tables to provide relevant detail and not just an ID for one of the elements on the form view.
The first tabe contains information regarding projects and the second table contains detail regarding Resources. First table has the following definition:
when we use standard gridview update field it used textbox as a small size i want to change it to textarea or textbox mutli mode or anything else but my problem is i can't to send this data to parameter even i use object data source.
This is my first post on this forum. I have a Gridview with the following Columns
1. Edit Column 2. User_ID (Read Only) 3. Email (Read Only) 4. Role ( A Dropdownlist with 2 list Items namely "Admin" & "QA Lead")
I have used wizard to populate a "Gridview" and the embedded "Dropdownlist" control in it. This is my reference: [URL] My Problem: The Data populates perfectly in Grid and Dropdownlist. But, when I Press "Edit" button the Dropdownlist goes into edit mode in the form of a "Texbox". (i dont want this) I still want it to be an editable dropdownlist.
I have a Formview where students put their information in such as name, address, etc. The text boxes are bound to my database, so once they are done, they choose to update, and my database is updated with their information. My problem is that the students often use All Caps to enter in their information.
I think I need the StrConv somehow, but I just can't seem to get this done. I've seen where it could be done with text boxes, but not when they were in a Formview using parameters.
have a WebForm with a Form View to insert new items in my database. These items that i will insert also are conected to other many-to-many relations that i also wanna add after my new item is inserted. For Example: With the classic Autors-Books data base (autors with many books each books with many autors), i want a FormView that for defoult enter to the InsertMode where you will add a new Autor with name, age, style, etc... After you insert this new autor i wanna show the details of this autor but also his books (when new this table will be empty) and below that table i want a button that says "Add a new book to this autor"
I have a search page, detailspage with formview and formview has multiple templates (item, edit, insert).
At the master page (I use vb as code), I have a menu with menuitems (for example "New Contact"), what I want is when I click on the New Contact menu item, I get redirected to the page with the formview on it and the mode of the formview is set to insert.
When a FormView control is in insert mode, a data entry form is shown where the user will type a value into each textbox corresponding to a table column.
How do I disable data entry for one of these textboxes and instead, assign a system-calculated value to that text box?
