Forms Data Controls :: Listview Is Repeating Itself For Each Record Returned?

I have a listview control on the page.. when the page binds and the listview is presented, there should be only 6 records.. well those 6 are displayed corrected at the top, but then below that is the same 6 records.. and below that is the same 6 records.. this goes on 6 times for the page.
If only 1 record is returned by the query. the page lays out ok and functions as expected.. is there a configuration i need to make to the listview to prevent it from repeating itself the number of records it returns?

I have a forum like page ( vBulletin like page). There are mainly two columns involved. User and Decription. The page looks like this

In it , userpic, username, subject and descriptions are to be repeated every time. I used listview for this.. But the column 'download link' is to be used at once only in the first post ( of thread author). So, how can I achieve this. I am using asp.net 3.5 and sql server 2005.

I am using a nested listview to display a seperate grid for each group of data returned from my db query. To get this working, I have adapted a piece of code to group the data prior to it being bound:

This works as I want it to however some of the fields within the nested table need to be formatted as currency so I am trying to use Eval and {0:c} to do this however the moment I use Eval, the data items cannot be found
DataBinding: 'System.Data.DataRow' does not contain a property with the name '0'.

I have a ListView control that only displays one record at a time. I have a LinqDataSource that can return one or more records. I have a function that determines the number of records and returns a psuedo random number between 1 and the number of records returned. When the page first loads, I want to display a random record. After that, I want the datapager to move the user normally through the records.
In my Page Load Event, if Page.IsPostBack is false, I get the random number. Let's say for simplicity I have 15 records and the randon number generated is 6. How do I tell the LinqDataSource to display the record at index 6?

I'm trying to create a list of items with a listview (ASP.NET VB) and would like to allow a user to use 1 of 2 checkboxes (or radio buttons), to allow them to mark that record as "approve" or "delete", then once they've made all of their selections, they press a button at the bottom to action each of their requests.
So they might select 10 records to delete and 5 to approve, but I want them to run all at the same time, rather than making them edit a field for them all 1 by 1.
I'm also having a bit of trouble identifying a particular record in my codebehind, is the only way to do it through listview1.items then get the index of it, and compare it to the same sql query somehow?

Hi. On my webpage, I have a listview that has a field called BookId. I also have a Detailsview with an ID field. When I add a new record on the listview, I would like to populate the BookID from the Id on my detailsview (there is a one to many relationship between the 2 ids).

I have a listview that has been constructed using tables. I have set the DataKeyNames="SomeTextField" among others. This column is currently not visible in the ListView.
I'd like to populate a textbox on the click of any listview record with the contents "SomeTextField" column.

I am new to using ASP.NET and I am using a datalist to represent the data obtained from querying a database.However,I am facing 2 issues:
1) If the string returned after querying the database is too long,the datalist is displaying the long string as it is which is not looking good.I am using Eval to fetch the data from the database for the sake of displaying.I need to have some page breaks so that the information fetched is presentable.
2) While repeating the datalist I want to hide all the columns except for 1 column whose value are unique.Upon searching I found this link: http://www.programmingknowledge.com/DataList.aspx but the code is in VB and I am not familiar with it.I am familiar with C#.
I am inserting the front end code for my datalist.I also want to know if datalist is the best control to present the data from the database.

Based on dynamic data, I'm going to have to display 1-8 rows of data input controls (a check box and several text boxes per row) and obtain input for all the rows I display.I don't think a GridView is the way to do that (although if it is, please help educate me on why). Each row will require input from the user which I'll then process, and I'd like to have all the rows (there may be only one, or there could be up to 8) display at once on the screen and the user only presses "Continue" when all input is completeWhat's the best way to accomplish this? Can you point me to an example of how I might accomplish this?

so I have code like above, I need to assure a record was actually returned before trying to use it... I assumed I could test for null, but that doesn't appear to work.
I tried: if (task != null) {yada yada yada}
but if I put an ID that doesn't exist in my querystring it throws an exception 'sequence contains no elements'. I realize I can catch the exception but I want to understand how I should be checking for a returned record. The .Single method intellisense says it returns exactly one record or throws an exception if more than one is found... is it also throwing the exception when zero are found I'm not sure if the issue is my check for null or that line that calls .single itself? Now I'm guessing I'm supposed to just catch the exception on the line that's calling .Single... yes?

I am bulding a dvd catalog and have a table called DVD which holds all my details about each dvd except Genre, Director and Actor as I want more than 1 Genre, Director, Actor per DVD so put these in seperate tables to avoid repeating the data and used a joining tabe to join the tables so the tables I have are
DVD, Genre, Director, Actor, DVDGenre, DVDDirector and DVDActor
I have now written a stored procedure to pull the info about 1 DVD out of all the tables to display on the webpage I have now got the info I want out of the tables but as the data is now in 1 table I have repeating data is there a way to stop the data repeating the stored procedure i have written is

i have design a web application having suppliers table using SqlDatasource..
i have a master page in my design and other form are bound to a context menu..
Now i have displayed the records in the gridview..all i wanted is after i select a record in the gridview it will display the selected record in detailview from another aspx form..
i was able to create the link to another aspx form but the data that it display is the first data from the gridview not the data that i select.
