Is there a way to load a gridview with a button rather than on page load?
Right now I'm trying by making enabled = false and visibile = false and then changing them via c# on the button_click event but its not working out. I get the error:
Data keys must be specified on GridView 'GridView1' before the selected data keys can be retrieved. Use the DataKeyNames property to specify data keys.
The gridview is dependent on several dropdown boxes which is why it shouldnt load until the button is pressed.
In one of my application, I have around 2000 records which i am displaying in gridview with normal paging.
Now I want to change this paging facility and would like to show a "more" button at the footer(just like [URL] has). The moment user clicks it, the next set of data will be retreived. This will go on till all the records are fetched.
I'm using objectdatasource to get my data. it works fine. Thecurrentway how it works. When the page opens it loads the gridview.but I don't want this.I would like to load the gridview after I press a submit button. so infact after postback...I tried to remove the select Method in aspx and set programmaticallyin the submit button eventhandler but then I get an error thatSelectmethod is not set.Can someone advice me how I can load the gridview usingobjectdatasource after pressing a submit button?
I have Dropdown for Quotenumber(auto increment ).i have created a function to retreive the data from database.data loading into dropdown. when i click on Addquotenumer button the new quotenumber generated and same loading into dropdown but 2 set of Quotenumbers are displaying rather than singleset, i debudded the code the reason was i have called this function twice one is form load and another one in AddQuotenumber button event,both should manadetory as per my requirement. how can un load this dropdown before AddQuotenumber button

I am using two data list one at the bottom & another at the Top to display paging. On Page load, I need to access link button placed inside Data List. Actually I had got two Datalists. I can access one Datalist Link button like this:

The above error occurs with gridview control , when used with template field columns with item template / and edit templates etc. updating a row within gridview, at the time of loadiong it loads perfectly fined, but when tried to modify an existing row within gridview control, then it produces the error. Make sure the grid view control has to be a child control which manages the child table info with in a master form. to reproduce the above problem the grid view must be loading the child records info of a master within the masterform, meaning both master data and gridview data all to be managed in one single form.
I had to replace gridview control with datagrid and then it worked perfectly fine. I wasted almost 4 days of my time., there is no way we could figure out the problem. here is the full info of the problem.

I have a databound Gridview (with a LINQ datasource). The gridview displays questions from the SQL DB to the user. I've inserted a radio button list into the gridview with 3 horizontal radio buttons with fixed values of 1,2,3 for the user to select. I have a question ID, a tempuserID, and AnswerValue columns set up in the database. It all works nicely.
After the user selects radio buttons, I would like for them to push a button to submit the QuestionID, the associated Radio Button Value (AnswerValue) and their tempUserID into the DB. How do I do this? I'm not sure what to do next and what VB/LINQ code to put in the code behind file in the button click event handler. I'm also not sure on what to use for the tempUserID, can I use the sessionID? I'm using VB and here's my code:
In my page I would like to load multiple gridview one by one (with or without update panel). Once the page loads I want gridview one to start loading then the next one load and so for the other gridviews.
While the gridview is loading the gridview should show loading gif.

twitter APIs includes URI images, and also strings that includes <a href> tags (i.e. hello world <a href="asp.net">asp.net</a> hi again)
the problem is that i'm not able to load these uri images in the gridview neither the hyperlinks instead i'm dipslaying the uri of the image and the tag itself

The above javascript will close the page automatiically. My intent is to close the page after the Link in the template field is clicked, but here the page closes automatically when its loaded.
How can I load (copy) the data that is present in the GridView into the DataTable? I am planning on loading the DataTable from GridView and update a row from the datatable and load the newly formed data with the GridView.
I'll start off with a snapshot of the application i'm working on.
Basically, what's going on is i'm using a bunch of sqldatasources to track truck loads (shown) based off a date/ date range. As there are generally multiple loads that all have the same information, so the information is grabbed with a SELECT DISTINCT so that you're only seeing one entry per multitude of loads. From there, customers can select the load type they want to work with and it goes into more detail, such as who trucked the different loads in, where it came from, where it's going to, references, that kinda stuff.
My question is, would it be feasible to show how many loads there are in total per distinct select? For instance, the top entry actually has 14 loads that are similar to that entry. How would I go about showing it has that total of 14 loads that could be shown?
I have a gridview that is loaded with data from a dataset and when editing a row, i need to have a drop down list populated with another dataset with the appropriate information. I am trying to implement this on the Row_Editing event. Here's my ASP and VB codebehind for this page.
