Apr 23, 2010
I have encountered the task of saving an image to a MsSQL Server Database. (Although I haven't even managed to do it yet).
But anyways I need to link this image from the MsSQL Database to Gridview. Can this be done ?

I have a very simple app here. It pulls a users picture from AD, saves it and then displays it as an asp:Image. The program runs perfectly in the IDE but fails after I publish it and try to browse to it. Here's the code and the error.
Default.aspx code.
Code:
<%@ Page Title="Home Page" Language="vb" MasterPageFile="~/Site.Master" AutoEventWireup="false"
CodeBehind="Default.aspx.vb" Inherits="WebApplication3._Default" %>
<asp:Content ID="HeaderContent" runat="server" ContentPlaceHolderID="HeadContent">
</asp:Content>
<asp:Content ID="BodyContent" runat="server" ContentPlaceHolderID="MainContent">
<asp:TextBox ID="TextBox1" runat="server" Width="247px"></asp:TextBox>

I am facing a problem with retrieving an image and showing it on asp.net grid. I migrated MS Access database to sql server. Image are visible in Crystal report when fetched from the same database (migrated sql server database). But same images are not visible in ASP.Net grid view or simple asp.net image control. Following is my code
SqlConnection oConn =
new
SqlConnection(ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["csr"].ToString());
oConn.Open();
SqlCommand oraCmd = oConn.CreateCommand();
oraCmd.CommandText = "select top 1 photo from [test] where photo is not null";
SqlDataReader dr =
null;
dr = oraCmd .ExecuteReader ();
if(dr.Read ())
if (dr["photo"] !=
null)
{
Response.ContentType = "image/gif";
Response.BinaryWrite((byte[])dr["photo"]);
}
This function is getting called from another page . "hlopen" is hyper link in the grid. hlopen.NavigateUrl = "GetPhoto.aspx?id=1";

I tried doing a search about saving a gridview as an image but have not found anything that works. I need to capture it or create one as an image to send to a mobile device for a dashboard. I know people tried capturing the grid like a screen shot but is there any other way? Sometimes the grid goes off screen. I assume i could create an image dynamically right? The tough part is setting the width of the columns and right/left justifying the data. Even if I could save an html table to an image also that would work.

save the Mulitple checkboxes in Gridview in once. I want to save only those rows which are checked.. not the once which are not checked. There is a row in gridview which has four checkboxes in each row, so i want to save the row in which either or all of the checkboxes are checked and ignore the once in which anyof checkbox is not checked.

I've created a data bound gridview to a SQL database. I am retrieving the data with a simple select for a specific date, and then populating my gridview. The one caveat is that I have added a second header row to my gridview, and then I am hiding parts of another row that was retrieved to only populate the main header row. I believe that this is causing my issue. However, when I step through the code it appears that my ids are proper (the first row has an id of 0, etc....). However, when I check the checkbox in row 4, the actual data from row 3 is being pulled out of the gridview.

My gridview has a dropdownlist when the user clicks "Edit". my question is: How to I retrieve the value of the cell that contains a dropdownlist (when the user clicks on "Select")?
I am able to retrieve the information from the cell that has a textbox (textbox is displayed ONLY when the user clicks on Edit). But when I try to retrieve information from any cells that has a dropdownlist (dropdownlist is displayed ONLY when the user clicks on Edit), it comes up blank.
In order to retrieve the cell I have used the following below:

I have a gridview, where I set the columns based on the columns in a datatable. I have a class that implements ITemplate, and creates a textbox template field. Everything works good, I can display my grid with the correct columns and headers. The probem comes up when I click a Save button, to save the user input. Of course the page postbacks, and I re-create the columns on PageInit. However, all the data the user entered is gone.

On my webpage, jobs.aspx, I have a gridview which is populated from my database. I would like it so that when a row in the gridview is clicked, the ID of the row from my database can then be passed through as a query string to a second webpage, details.aspx, where more information about what was clicked on will be displayed.
I'm confident about being able to pass the query string, I just need help with getting the corresponding row's data ID from my database and making the gridview click-able, which will be the interaction which specifies which ID to be retrieved.

Is it possible to first add controls (ie. CheckBoxes) to a GridView with AutoGenerateColumns set to true. Then to click a single save button which loops thru the controls in the GridView, gets their values (ie. Checked/Not Checked) and then saves those values to a database?

I am reviewing some web code and I am not exactly sure how ASP.net session state works. If a User object is saved to the session state during login, and User.FirstName and User.LastName is set. If other web pages retrieve the user object from the session and set the FirstName to something else is that persisted on other web pages? Or, do you need to re-add the user object back to the session once it has been modified?

I am developing page for maintaing employee record using Visual Studio 2008, MS SQL server 2005. I am able to fetch and display all the employee information in gridview, the gridview have the dropdown list to display the employee type [ Part Time, Full Time, Permanent , Contract ], in the item template i am having dropdown list. IN the dropdown list i am displaying this. But While saving the record in gridview the droppdown selected index are changed to 0 of other dropdown list.
the user may be change the dropdown value from permanent to contract, or so. but while click on the save button in gridview, all the previous selection are gone, and always showing the first record of dropdown list. I know this is happening because we are doing dropdown list bind on onRowDataBound.

I have a page which displays details and a pictures of employees. The details are stored in a SQL database and the images are on the server. How can I set a default Image to display (e.g. an Image saying "Awaiting Image") if an employee picture is missing?
I can't use NullImageUrl as the Images are not stored in the database. I can't use the solution found on [URL] as an ImageField does not accept an ID attribute.
