Now i want to insert the grid view values(more then one datas multiple rows) and Retrive the out put and again i have to bind to the another grid in the same form. Here i have to pass that values as a XML string and how colud i have to retrive the values and how to i can bind those values in to another grid view. what kind of methods and objects i have to use, and this process ll not affect the page performance.

I am looking to have 1 Gridview/Datagrid (which ever is now more appropriate) on my code in front,
the columns will need to be dynamically generated, with a "Always present" checkbox control with the default being checked
Each column will be a Label type - so not editable
The Idea is the user will tick or until each item that they wish to submit to the database.
I am able to dynamically populate the control - using new bouncontol, but I have been unable to then obtain the selected data.

I need to know how can I select a gridview row based on a query string data. In my case, the query string will contain the id that exist in the Table related to that grid. Is there a way to do this from the code behind? In other words, if I click a link with that specific query string, can I open the page and tell my grid to select a specific row based on the table row id?

I have a page that displays a grid view based on a query string. When I click the edit button I need to send the grid view into edit mode based on the query string. I have this so far:

When I requested the page the first time, the grid view displayed properly, and when I clicked the edit link button, it did trigger the update mode. However, I can't get the cancel mode to operate properly; in other words, cancel never sends it back to normal mode, as a result, with each new page request, I'm always stuck on the last edited record.

I have placed grid view in update panel with first row as empty and it is not bound with any data base. Rather I have bound grid view with data table. Whenever I click on 'Add New Row' button, a new row is created in grid view there by retaining the data field in old rows but my problem is whenever I click on save button, at that time data of first row is not retried but I can get the data that is filled in second row and onwards. I have saved my data table in session and again retrieving it after each post back.

Have a GridView with a templated select button hidden and using
e.Row.Attributes.Add("onclick",Page.ClientScript.GetPostBackEventReference(this.grdMaster, "Select$" + e.Row.RowIndex.ToString())); to select a row .
When user like to update the datasource he will select one row from gridview then in selected indexchanged event i would display the selected row values beneath the form under the grid , Then user will update the contents displayed from grid and click an update button which is outside the grid . After updating the displayed row , i got to get the values of the next row in the grid and display them for next updation , i'e if users maually selects row 3 from grid then he can update the values using the update button and then on update click itself i'll have to display next row contents of row 4 and this process could go on .

I have Parent/Child Grid (also called Nested Grids).
Parent Grid (PG) :: PG has two template fields. 1st template field has "Category ID" and 2nd template has Child Grid
Child Grid (CG) :: CG is populated in PG's RowDataBund event based on "Category ID". In CG's DataBound event, I am doing something which I need to display in CG's footer row.
Problem :: In the footer row of each CG, I have to show the "Category ID" which is in PG' row. How can I get hold of the PG's row which hascurrent nested grid (there will 'n' child grids, one for each 'Category ID' in the PG ) so I can read the "Category ID"
I was thinking if I could do something (DataBound event of CG) like this..

I'm using ASP.NET/VB and am wanting to nest a grid inside of another grid. I've seen them but am unsure how to make them work. I have a Orders table with an OrderID and it is linked to a Orders_Detail table. I would like to be able to select the order and see the details. I have an app that connects to only one db for all of the data that the app has access to. My connection string is in the Web.Config file. In each of my DAL classes I have the following code that gets the connection string from the Config file. This works with no issues but I thought there might be a better way of doing this that I don't know.
If I wanted to change the name of the connection string that any of the DAL classes would use then I would have to change the name of the connection string in each of the files. I thought about creating a new class that would hold this then I could just instantiate a new instance of the class to access this with each of the DAL classes that needs access to it. Then if I needed to change the name of the connection string then it would only be in one place. I suspect there is an even better way of doing this that i don't know about.

I would like to open some page from external web-application in iframe. Usualy, I would indicate URL for iframe like this: URL = [URL] BUT. I need to send not only 'ID=12' parameter. I need to send a lot of data to handler in order to be processed. Usualy I do it by following code:

But when you use this code - you recieve response from webrequest as some amount of data - text or binary. I may write this respone to the place on the page where I wanted to have iframe. But response cannot always be accaptable. (for example - I render asp:Treeview by ASHX handler - when I do to ashx page - it renders well, collapse-expand works fine; but if I write web-response of ashx page as text/html - then there's something wrong with javascript, tags ids and collapsing nodes). And webresponse cannot be represented as as URL. How to combine this two approaches
1) Clear URL which can be set as source for iframe
2) Extra data for web-request, larger then QueryString can handle
