I am trying (unsuccessfully) to pre-select a radiobutton control (within a DetailsView control) based on a value found in a database.
There are only two values: "Yes" and "No". A field in the database has one of the values in it and I want the correct item selected when the record is displayed in Edit mode.
All my other record fields are displayed correctly--this is the only one giving me issues. I am using vb.
I want to add 2 radiobuttons into a column:
- Present
- Absent
There is also a field in the database: 'Present'
I have googled his topic, most of the answers provide with the .aspx code.
I would like to do it from the 'Design' method, ie. from the Property box.
If the user select 'Absent' then a dropdown list have to be 'visible' on the next column for selection.
One of the gridviews looks like this:

Q1 SQ2 A1

All fields are BoundFields (except radiobuttons). They can't be converted to templates, I am using boundfields for row-level displaying in RowDataBound.Each row has a radiobutton and only one radio button should be selected per subquestion (SQ).How I can ensure only one answer is selected per subquestion? On radiobutton click or on submit?
I have a masterpage and 1 childpage. In master page there is a listbox to present a data when a child page button is clicked. Listbox name is x1 for example.
When i am in childpage's button click event: i do not see that x1 named listbox due to namespace i guess.
For example masterpage name is masterpage1. When we are in childpage in button click event.
To try masterpage1 objecttemp = new masterpage1()
button1_Click() (child pages button click event)
masterpage.x1.items.add("button 1 clicked"); it is not being able to reachable too.
Also i encountered another issue related to that. When in masterpage for example masterpages click event. (its a login panel and when user clicks login, i had wanted to add a text information to listbox). In child pages when user clicks to login button which belongs masterpage top panel. It does not seem like working. It may be related to asp page master child life cycle and i do not know good. I wanted to able to add a string to listbox that belongs and come from masterpage in child page. Is there any way to use a datacontrol in childpage that belongs to masterpage.

What I want to do, is when the details view loads the drop down list it contains the current value of the record selected from my GridView, but the user is then able to select a new value. I know how to databind a drop down list in any other scenario but I just couldn't get this to work.

When using the templates in edit mode, I am using a dropdownlist to change the member status.

So i have a Linq object named TCategory. When the user wants to edit this object he will have 2 fields id and categoryName and when he press update the UpdateCategory function will receive an already made object of TCategory type storing the data user has typed. The problem is that i also want to let the client to change the id of the object so i need to pass to the function the actual Id and the TCategory object. How can i do this?

View 1 RepliesI have a standard gridview and detailsview. My detailsview has some fields which are templates, with dropdownlists. The user selects a record in the gridview, then can go down to the detailsview, select Edit, and change some values (using dropdownlists).I am getting the error, "DDL has a selectedvalue which is invalid because it does not exist...." when I click Edit in the detailsview.
I know the problem has something to do with the dropdownlists not being instantiated or bound until I enter Edit mode. Is that right? In what event should I databind my dropdownlists? I've tried several things but could not get it to work. Do I have to loop through all the rows of my details view looking for the dropdownlists, or can I access them directly from some event?
I have two table Order and Order Detail.
What i need is i need to bind last 10 Order in Gridview/details view with paging, and the same order detail also fetch from database and shown in another gridview.. if user click any oderNo in first Gridview/DetailView then i need to show Respective order detail in anther gridview..

I am trying to arrange the information from a SQL record into a 3 column by 3 row table to fit the form presentation that I want. I have placed on the page 3X3 table and then tried to place a detailsview in the first cell for the first picture called P1dv.

I“m trying to link the gridview to detailsview and I used this page as my inspiration:

But I“m trying to do that programmatically, not with the sqldatasource. So I wrote the method that binds data to Detailsview and I call it in the page_load. The problem is that I have to click two times on the select button to view the detailsview. The first time I click on the select button nothing happens.

I am having an issue with dropdown list when viewstate is disabled. The selectedindexchanged event fires even for the other events on the page.

I use a GridView control to select the row to display within the FormView. The FormView contains a RadioButtonList to facilitate the selection of one of its values. My C# codebehind contains a "selected_index changed event to grab the values from any of the modified FormView controls. My problem is that it is not picking up the selected radio button.
