Forms Data Controls :: Download File From Server When Click In Gridview Particular Link?

On daily basis, I am saving a file in my PC. The name of the file is same but with different date including date. What I required to just there should be a gridview with hyperlink button(Download File) columns like this:

When user click "DownloadFile" button then it should go to particular folder in server and download file. he task is very important and urgent for me.
I have a asp.net gridview , with a column as Hyperlink.I have employee id in this column.When I click this employeeid, I want to go to another page, and load data based on the employee id.How can I know, which employee id, I clicked so that I can load data based on this employee id.Can I use event bubbling for this?
I have Web page that uses LinkButton control inside Template Fields of Gridview.I am trying to work on LinkButton Click event and trying to preserve the Value of LinkButton that user click, and based on that value, i want to refresh tha page data.
I used CommandName and CommandArgument property of Linkbutton, but i can use that property only in GridView_RowCommand method by checking e.CommandName expression. But the problem with that Gridview_RowCommand event fire after all other page_load activity. So the value never used in the page_load event to refresh the data in all other control.I also tried to use OnClick Method, Session variable and Hidden variable. but when i run Response.Redirect method from Gridview_RowCommand, it clear all the Session and Hidden variable values. also tried (Response.Redirect(,false)) method but never got success.
I need a Gridview where by a user will click a link in a row and it will react like another row below expanding. This expanded row will containa number of other controls including a gridview. I have seen this in action on the MSDN subscription website. I have a link button in my gridview. It is populating correctly; however, being I am populating the values in the gridview using "Eval()" method I don't know how to get the value of the selected Link Button (which is only selected by a user actually clicking the Link Button).
The user can click on the text directly (instead of showing the "Select" auto created). I want to be able to capture the item they have clicked on's Text property.
Example:Column 1
Value1 Value2 Value3
When the click on "Value2" I want the text property to be stored in a string variable (In this case the text would be "Value2"). In the past I have captured this through GridView.SelectedValue; however, I am not using autopopulate selected button so I need to do this manually and I am unsure as to how I will do this.

how to download a file , from sql server 2005 to local disk.
using asp.net and c# as my code behind, when i click on gridview column, a pop up windows should appear asking fr the path to save in local disk, when name is entered and save button is clicked, that particular file should get saved in disk.
I have a gridview which is pulling data from sql server2005. Now i have five pdf or jpg files in a folder in my website directory. There urls are stored in sql table like this

Now i have an itemtemplate in templatefield in gridview
I want that the above url should be displayed in itemtemplate and whenevr user click on this link, related file should be open

I was wondering how do I archive this: the file name will be a link button (or whatever the best way is) and when click on the name, it will download the file (instead of haing an additonal "Download" column)?

Obviously this doesn't work since TransmitFile requires that the file be on your physical path, so how do i do this? Someone said you must use the stream method. Do you have any sample code I could try? I've tried the HTTPStreamReader object but it's giving me issues, so I would love to find out if there is anyway this might work. Now here's some more important information: this are HUGE video files.. we are creating a downloads page... written in asp.net -- so you create an account using the .net membership class, then you select the file you want, go through a form where you enter your billing info and then after you pay a certain fee (this is already implemented), you go to your "downlaods" area in your account... there you have access to the files......... the reason i'm doing this is because i want to hide the download link, which will be something likehttp://myOTHERserver.com/2340987sdfkjhalsdlkjh23 ... (something really crazy)....... we don't want people seeing this on the status bar (Therefore hiding the download link is ESSENTIAL)........ the files are a good 500MB each approximately; so i would love to hear all of your suggestions as to making the streamreader work for me and how long would it take for the streamreader to READ the file........
When I click on download link button which has the path of the file stored on the gridview how to pass only the filename to the query string... like for example URL....presentation. pdf is the file name and it will be displayed with the path stored on the gridview.. How to extract the filename and make it download on a new window by passing the filename on the query string..
I have a web application which consists of many aspx pages ... one of them shows a grid with rows that can be exported to a file via button click. This works fine. Now I want to have that feature which allows a user to access an external link to this page (or another) and to export to a file and download. I dont need any information on the page, just the file download. How could I do this also including security features like encryption?
Here is what I need to to. I have a gridview which I have a column that has a link to a pdf file on our file server. When I click the link I need to go into a database and update a column that they clicked the link then I need to open the file. by usinga HyperLinkField I am able to put in the link that I want to go to and when the page is running I can click on the link and it goes to the page and everything works fine except for being able to update the database part.

I tried using a ButtonField where in the code behind in the GridView1_RowCommand I pull out the file path and put it into a response write statement the problem I'm having with it is that when it opens the file it removes all the ""s so I get the error file cannot be found.

I have used the tutorial for Save and Retrieve Files from SQL Server Database using ASP.Net It's working well for saving and retrieving on page OR on label. For the file retrieving section i want the file to be displayed as link "Download" in Gridview and when i click on download link file should start downloading.
i was just wondering how one would approach creating a link that would be active for 24 hours for a user... ie i have in the db a time of confirmation and then wanted to make a download active for them for 24 hours and deactivate it post then.
