Forms Data Controls :: Format Integer Field In Gridview?

I have a GridView that records can be added to.There are only 2 fields in the table that the records come from which are date field and an integer field.The date field is fine "as is".The problem is that you can't format the integer field.I have tried every way that I can think off.The last 2 ways that I have tried have used String.Format because I am using EVal and with Eval you can supply anoptional second parameter to specify a format for the returned string.I have tried in both html and code behind , html gives an error message but the code behind (code behindthe RowDataBound method) doesn't give an error message:In the html looks like:

when updating a decimal field in a GridView all is fine when using e.g. "2.3" ("." to separate the fraction!)
However, when using "2,3" I get e formatstring exception!
I tried "regularExpressionValidator/RequiredFieldvalidator" but did not succeed! Tried also with FormatString like {0:n}.....
Questions:
is this controllable by "Culture / UICulture" in web.config (played with it without success!
How do I best check for correct input i.e. force "." as separator
Can I use the "DataFormatString" property for the appropriate GridView field (like {0:n}) ......

I have a text field that users enter information into a database (SQL Server). They are entering as little as a few sentances to multiple paragraphs. I can successfully display the data on my webpage, but the text field is not formatted very nicely. The output is all smashed together like one big paragraph. Ironically, when I also display the text as a tool tip it outputs as multiple paragraphs like it was entered. How can I format the output in the datalist to create a more readable text field? My datalist field is as follows:

lblBalance.Text = points.ToString();
In the gridview it is like this:

i have a gridview populated by the code below:

I have an integer field in my database that contains a date value in the form yyyyMMdd. Is it possible to parse this as a date in the form dd/MM/yyyy as bound to a datagrid?

I have an integer field in my sql database and I have an xsd set up with all the CRUD operations. I need to put the value in a variable into the this integer field. Sometimes the value is 'nothing'. I have option strict on so there's no conversions going on by itself. If I hard code 'nothing' into the insert query, it works fine. Here's what happens otherwise:
1) If I put a variable into the query, when I assign 'nothing' to the variable, it becomes 0 so it puts a 0 into my database.
2) If I use an iif( ) statement, it also converts 'nothing' to 0
I don't seem to have any way to get a nothing in there if I don't specifically write 'nothing'.

I have a Gridview with ID "GVSeasonsOfResort" which has selectable rows.
One of the fields in that gridview is RSLinkID which is an ID field of the table from which ths SQLDataSource driving the gridview gets its data.
I have a textbox outside the gridview with ID TxtBxRSLinkID and when I select a row of the Gridview, I want to assign the value of the RSLinkID field of the selected row to the TxtBxRSLinkID.

i'm trying to sort a datatable using the typical select method*. The problem comes because the field is string defined but it's containing integer values.
With sql the problem will be solved just using something like:
select * from table order by to_number(field);
but of course it's not working properly with the method commented above (select method).

I have written a small web app to take fill a dataset from an xml file, which is then bound to a Gridview control. The problem I am having is that I am trying to format a date field as it is currently displayed as '2010-06-03T16:37:26.043+01:00'. I can usually set a format to an item within a templatefield by setting the bind or eval text, but in this case I cannot.

I would like to display date format in the GridView as follows:
First column - Date: null / yyyy-MM-dd
Second column - Decimal:
if 0/null = 0.00
if 10 = 10.00
if 10.1 = 10.10
if 10.11 = 10.11
if 10.111 = 10.111 (no need to rounding)
How can I do that?

I have a gridview that binds an integer value to a column and I want to set the display text to "true" if the value is 1 and "false" for all other cases.
Can this be done with FormatTextSTring or will i need to check the values in the gridview_rowdatabound.
Asp:boundfield is the column type in the grid.

I'm attempting to change the format of the 2nd column in a gridview during the rowdatabound event. I pulled sample code from various sources and wrote the following, but it's not working. I tried to do a trace, but the rowdatabound event didn't appear in the trace. Here's some code for the gridview:
