I'm trying to get a drop down list to select a field from a table.
Below is the code for my existing datagrid. I need the maintenance column on the end to be a drop down box fetching values from a datasource. I can sort the datasource bit myself i think

Outside of this formview i have a drop down list, I want to grab the value from that drop down list and set one of the text fields within the formview to it's currently selected value. I've tried the following code, but the dynamic categorytextbox line is what seems to not be working.

I'm used to Dreamweaver where this is possible. I find it hard to believe that I would need to use a 1 column gridView control.
Is there a way to drag one field from the db Explorer window onto my page and NOT get a grid view?

Basically I want to populate a drop down list with time slots for a user to select. If the time slot is already recorded in the database table I want to skip that one so it doesn't display as a selection in the drop down list.

From my understanding this if (ddl_Upload.SelectedValue == .... Is only recognized if I would have listed -Select, Images etc as List Items for the drop down???

I have a drop down list that populates information about the product from an access database (vb) when the user makes a selection. would like to have minimal product info on the home page so when the user selects the button for example 'view details' they will be taken to the product screen with the item already selected in the drop down list and information showing.

I have just got the login control working, and would like to grab the currently logged in username (I'm guessing via the loginname control), and then have the Drop Down list on the default.aspx select the matching name. The names don't exactly match so, I could hard code compare them via a select case or if statement, but the problem is I don't how to get the logged in username into a variable, and I don't know how to have the drop down list (which is databound) select the record.

In RECIPE table I have a field named Status_Id which contains the name of the Status which is fetch from the RECIPE_STATUS table based on this ID.

From an ASP.net page I would like that my user is capable of changing the RECIPE_STATUS from a given recipe. For that I have a DataGrid which is bind to the RECIPE table.
But then what I would like is that the STATUS shown to my user to be the name Locked,Running or free depedning on the Id
How can I bound in my Datagrid the Recipe.Status to be bind to RECIPE_STATUS.Id ?
IN addition to that, If my user change the status for a given recipe, it should be properly save.

Which intellisense says "Property Access must Assign to it's property or use it's values". Do I have the code all wrong? Also, as a side question, I don't understand why I have to use the TryCast find control option to find every control to use them. Even in the Page_Load if I type in DropDownList1 it says it's not declared.

i am using SQL table to cascading 3 drop down list. this is search fields for cars by manifacture, model and year. the 2 first ddl has autopostback and AppendDataBoundItems (true) i want the user will select the facture first, then the 2th ddl will display the models of that manifacture and then the year. for the first time its working good, but when i change the manifacture for the second time, in the model i have the new values + the old values, and go on and on, if i select diffrent facture the model ddl have now values of 3 diffrent manifacture,
