And how to provide a select option in a GridView to select all records (It should select not only the record shown in one page in GridView but all records that were returned to the GridView) or one by one record that was returned? These things (for e.g., Number of selected rows) should also be displayed in the label which I mentioned before.

I know how to get selected row index , selected value from the ddl but dont know how to hide one and display the other only for a row and pass both values to the next step

May 10, 2010I have just got the login control working, and would like to grab the currently logged in username (I'm guessing via the loginname control), and then have the Drop Down list on the default.aspx select the matching name. The names don't exactly match so, I could hard code compare them via a select case or if statement, but the problem is I don't how to get the logged in username into a variable, and I don't know how to have the drop down list (which is databound) select the record.

Which intellisense says "Property Access must Assign to it's property or use it's values". Do I have the code all wrong? Also, as a side question, I don't understand why I have to use the TryCast find control option to find every control to use them. Even in the Page_Load if I type in DropDownList1 it says it's not declared.

VS 2010 - How To Select ALL Gridview Rows Not Just Rows Displayed
Jun 27, 2012I have a gridview which right now is getting loaded with four pages of data. There are 50 rows per page. My problem is I need the "select all" button on my page to select 180 rows, not just the 50 on the page. This is my javascript:

I am more a C# person than javascript, but I am deducing that I need something other than document.forms[0] to represent the entire gridview. Or perhaps, I can't do this in javascript at all. Do I need server code to run and set a session variable, then when the user clicks the button to do something with all his selected rows (it goes to a detail page), query that session variable to see if it's all rows instead of iterating through each gridview row individually to see if the checkbox is checked?

i have a table with number of rows 50,000.
i want to display the number of rows at my table in a Label when the page is on load.
so can u give me the code or the hint?
my second question is.
my table has around 50,000 items.
and i have a search box, it look like this
str= select * from mytable where item='car'
the item Car is located in my table in row number of 45,000.
i guess when i search from the table where the item is car, then it will search row by rows, then as the number of rows become huge, it will be so late to find the result.
so is there any method how to search from table with good speed of searching?
