Forms Data Controls :: Getting A Boolean Response From An Eval Operator?
Oct 18, 2010
I would like to use an eval stmt to return a true/false for the visible property of a HyperLinkField. IF clientComment exists, I would like it to return True, if clientComment is null or "", then would like it to return False.
By default I noticed it already will not show the hyperlink if clientComment is Null, however the bug I'm running into is if the client enters a comment but then later deletes it so it's not null but blank, or "", in which case the HyperLinkField will incorrectly display. Here's my attempt so far but I'm obviously hitting a wall:
Visible='<%# Eval("clientComment")==Null or =="",False) %>'
I know that the problem is my field having NULL values. However, I don't know how to have it process the code even if the field have nullshere's my code:
I'm sure this is something simple that I have overlooked, but whilst configuring my SQLDataSource, I have tried to add a where statement onto a column in my datatable that has a data type of 'bit'. I have tried typing 'WHERE Answered = "0"' for false and also 'WHERE Answered = "false"'. The data source doesn't return any rows to my detailsview with either statement.
I have a boolean column in a datagrid that I would like to display as red/green image (I have already created these) instead of false/true. Or maybe I could display the "True" in green text and "False" in red text. Can someone point me in the right direction?
I'm quite new to ASP.NET programming, so excuse me if my question is dumb.I have the need of showing a grid (A GridView ?) of boolean values. But instead of showing checkboxes, I want to show the cells filled with black (value is true) or white (value is false). I understand I can do that by crafting a TemplateField and changing the style of the cell to select the correct background color and never displaying an actual value. I have not tried but I think it could work. The grid will contains 99% of boolean values and will contain something like 20 rows of 100 columns (2000 cells).
Now I would like to have that grid edited in place at client side, that is with JavaScript, changing the style of the cell when the user clicks on the cell. There would be a submit button somewhere to postback the whole thing.Is that possible ? Any hint for programming it ?Since I have a lot of webforms which needs to display that kind of grid, I would like to go further and design a custom GridView (or other control) that I could install in the toolbox and reuse easily.
I have an asp:label field for and expire date that should either display "Never" if the database field ([msDS-UserDontExpirePassword] this is a bit - true/false - field) is True, or otherwise display a date (pwdExpireDate).
My code doesn't throw any errors but I can' fully test it without putting it into production. Can someone tell me if this is correct? Also, there is no code-behind and I can't use code behind for this.
In trying to improve 'user experience' with a GridView, I have an administrative application where a GridView is displaying records from a SQL table. One of the columns is a bit column, and is displayed as a checkbox in the GridView. I want the user to be able to simply check or uncheck the box while viewing the GridView, and the value in that column for that record is immediately updated. So I set AutoPostBack="true" on the CheckBox in the GridView's Template Field.
But tests are indicating that the column value is not actually getting changed, even though the page appears to post back and displays the newly checked (or unchecked) checkbox correctly. But if I check the SQL table directly the column's value has not changed.
I come across the technique on how to apply a different CSS class to make a row stand out from the others. However, the original code is for gridview whilst I am trying to get it works on a listview. The original code for the gridview is as follows and how to get it done on listview.
I know that variations of this same question have been posed numerous times - but I can't quite seem to find the exact solution.
I would like any row in my gridview where the boolean field "Approved" is True to be shaded gray. Here is the code that I'm using, but every row ends up being gray, regardless of the value in that "Approved" field. My guess is that I'm not correctly evaluating the boolean value in this field (which is actually a yes/no field in MS Access), Not sure if I should be reading that value as "-1", "Yes" or "True" or "NotNull"? Anyway, here is the code:
I have a datalist and would like to add an if statement within the Text part of my label.
Tried the following but it doesn't work
Note: if I do a normal eval Text='<%# Eval("UI_successful_trans")%>' the value returned from the database will be 1 or 0. Depending of which value is returned, I would like to have the text "Win" or "Lose" returned. ( I know that this could easily be done in code behind but I would like to know if it is
i think its a simple problem but i am strugling with it i have list view, and in item template i am bounding a label with 2 fields that is first name and last name
but it gives error taht Operator '+' cannot be applied to operands of type 'object' and 'object' for single value it works that is
Text='<%# Eval("firstname") %>' /> and even for constant concatenate it works that is Text='<%# "India" + Eval("firstname") %>' /> .... is working fine
I tried different arrangement but its not working that is
My web application works if I don't compile it, when I compile, it gives me this nasty error and I am clueless to what I did wrong?
Here is the error: No where in my line 113 has any Eval nor my entire page has any Eval, I used Bind so what is going on? the strange thing is if I leave the page as is with out Publish web site option the same page works perfectly fine.
BC30451: Name 'Eval' is not declared
Line 111: <asp:TemplateField HeaderText="Property Name" SortExpression="PropertyName"> Line 112: <ItemTemplate> Line 113: <asp:Label ID="PropertyNameLabel" runat="server" Text='<%# Bind("PropertyName") %>'></asp:Label>
I have a repeater that has been given a datasource from my database containing pictures. The problem is that when i create and log a user into my site i send him to a folder that has no access from others than the ones with a roles called User. When he creates his profile, he uploads a picture which is saved in the same folder "User/picture/picturename" and in the database "picture/picturename".
Now i need to pull this picture to the Default page page where users are not logged in. If i add an Image Control to the frontpage with ImageUrl='<%#Eval ("PictureThumbURL") %>' it tries to pull out the picture from the folder User which is obvious that it can't since it lacks the User/ in front.
Is it possible to get this picture by manually adding User/ to the ImageUrl='<%#Eval ("PictureThumbURL") %>' and if so, how?
<asp:Label ID="Label13" Runat="Server" Text='<%# (decimal)Eval("CelaDnevnica") > 0 && (int)Eval("CelaDnevnicaStevilo") > 0 ? Å t. ((double.Parse(Eval("CelaDnevnica").ToString())) / (double.Parse(Eval("CelaDnevnicaStevilo").ToString()))).ToString("0.00"): "" %>' ></asp:Label>
How to include text "Å t." according to a conditional sentence?If a conditional sentence is completed, the printed text "Å t." As well as CelaDnevnica / CelaDnevnicaStevilo
I ran into this kind of situation many times without a nice solution. Binding a data source to a gridview and one of the column require nested query. Is it possible to have a callback function other than Eval()?
I have a ListView bound to a database view (vw_Reunions). The Eval statements in the ItemTemplate render the data in vw_Reunions just fine but I have one in the LayoutTemplate that doesn't display. Can anyone tell me why?
