Forms Data Controls :: SQLDataSource Filter Boolean?
Nov 7, 2010
I'm sure this is something simple that I have overlooked, but whilst configuring my SQLDataSource, I have tried to add a where statement onto a column in my datatable that has a data type of 'bit'. I have tried typing 'WHERE Answered = "0"' for false and also 'WHERE Answered = "false"'. The data source doesn't return any rows to my detailsview with either statement.
I have an SqlDataSource, which is filtered by two RadioButtonLists. The markup is as follows:
[Code]....
In my code-behind I add the filterexpression when the radiobuttonlists are changed
[Code]....
My problem is that while it works fine when changing the RadioButtonListProducts the filtering works nicely, there is a problem with the RadioButtonListStatus, that filters on the Boolean column, 'Godkendt'. It works nicely if its set to 'Alle' (No filtering on that parameter) but when set to anything else, no records are shown. I suppose the problem is in the filterexpression
I have a database which holds the scores in the league for my local table tennis club. There are 3 divisions. On the admin page, I want the admin to be able to add teams and edit the scores. For each league, there is a seperate gridview. How can I use just 1 SQLdatasource to filter the records for each gridview if all the teams are in the same database with the division next to their name? I'm new to web development.
So I found an example on how to search gridview using filterexpressions on this site (Filter GridView with TextBox using FilterExpression in SqlDataSource in ASP.Net), but now if I try to search with an apostrophe in the textbox, the code fails.
Here's the link to the the article/source - [URL] .....
I am trying to populate an (editable) gridview in ASP.NET with a table from SQL. I have a SQLDataSource set up for this. I also need to have this gridview be filterable based on parameters entered in textboxes. I have tried using ControlParameters for this and it works but the problem there is when all textboxes are empty I want it to display all results in the gridview. What it does is display nothing because no entries have parameters that equal "". Is there an easy way to do this that I am missing or is there a better way to go about it other than a SQLDataSource?
I have a boolean column in a datagrid that I would like to display as red/green image (I have already created these) instead of false/true. Or maybe I could display the "True" in green text and "False" in red text. Can someone point me in the right direction?
I would like to use an eval stmt to return a true/false for the visible property of a HyperLinkField. IF clientComment exists, I would like it to return True, if clientComment is null or "", then would like it to return False.
By default I noticed it already will not show the hyperlink if clientComment is Null, however the bug I'm running into is if the client enters a comment but then later deletes it so it's not null but blank, or "", in which case the HyperLinkField will incorrectly display. Here's my attempt so far but I'm obviously hitting a wall:
Visible='<%# Eval("clientComment")==Null or =="",False) %>'
I'm quite new to ASP.NET programming, so excuse me if my question is dumb.I have the need of showing a grid (A GridView ?) of boolean values. But instead of showing checkboxes, I want to show the cells filled with black (value is true) or white (value is false). I understand I can do that by crafting a TemplateField and changing the style of the cell to select the correct background color and never displaying an actual value. I have not tried but I think it could work. The grid will contains 99% of boolean values and will contain something like 20 rows of 100 columns (2000 cells).
Now I would like to have that grid edited in place at client side, that is with JavaScript, changing the style of the cell when the user clicks on the cell. There would be a submit button somewhere to postback the whole thing. Is that possible ? Any hint for programming it ?Since I have a lot of webforms which needs to display that kind of grid, I would like to go further and design a custom GridView (or other control) that I could install in the toolbox and reuse easily.
I have an asp:label field for and expire date that should either display "Never" if the database field ([msDS-UserDontExpirePassword] this is a bit - true/false - field) is True, or otherwise display a date (pwdExpireDate).
My code doesn't throw any errors but I can' fully test it without putting it into production. Can someone tell me if this is correct? Also, there is no code-behind and I can't use code behind for this.
In trying to improve 'user experience' with a GridView, I have an administrative application where a GridView is displaying records from a SQL table. One of the columns is a bit column, and is displayed as a checkbox in the GridView. I want the user to be able to simply check or uncheck the box while viewing the GridView, and the value in that column for that record is immediately updated. So I set AutoPostBack="true" on the CheckBox in the GridView's Template Field.
But tests are indicating that the column value is not actually getting changed, even though the page appears to post back and displays the newly checked (or unchecked) checkbox correctly. But if I check the SQL table directly the column's value has not changed.
I come across the technique on how to apply a different CSS class to make a row stand out from the others. However, the original code is for gridview whilst I am trying to get it works on a listview. The original code for the gridview is as follows and how to get it done on listview.
I know that variations of this same question have been posed numerous times - but I can't quite seem to find the exact solution.
I would like any row in my gridview where the boolean field "Approved" is True to be shaded gray. Here is the code that I'm using, but every row ends up being gray, regardless of the value in that "Approved" field. My guess is that I'm not correctly evaluating the boolean value in this field (which is actually a yes/no field in MS Access), Not sure if I should be reading that value as "-1", "Yes" or "True" or "NotNull"? Anyway, here is the code:
I have a datagrid control, the first column is Revno, currently presenting info in linkbutton. i want to do a condition based on another field docid, which gets true or false value from database. if true then present Revno in linkbutton otherwise show the revbnno just as a label., thatway users does'nt have ability to clickit.
<ItemTemplate> <asp:LinkButton ID="lblRevision" runat="server" CssClass="Textboxes" Text='<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "RevNo")%>' CommandName="FileDownloadRecord"></asp:LinkButton> </ItemTemplate> this docid field has flag true or false. if true meaning show the revno as LinkButton, otherwise show the revno as label. GetDocdetail(DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Docid") on the codebehind side i can use this function. Public Function GetDocdetail(ByVal DocID As boolean) As String If DocID = "true" Then Else End If End Function
I have defined some binary bit columns in an SQL database table to indicate yes/no conditions, but I don't know how to set or reset them. I tried to use "profile.Volunteer = 0;" C# code in an event handler to reset a voluntary state for the Profile table of members, but what I got back was an error message that said, "Constant value '0' cannot be converted to a bool'. So, if a '0' cannot be used to reset a boolean value, what can be used?
I'm using a sqldatasource to populate a gridview. I've figured out how to use the dynamic sorting, but I'm curious if there is a way to add filtering on each column. So, if a user wants to pick one specific value from grid, then it would re-populate with only rows that have the specific value selected. Excel has this feature in a workbook, but am curious if this is possible on a vb.net web page.
I have a gridview populated by a SQLDataSource that is fairly complicated on a dataset changing constantly. It takes a second or so to fetch the data.
I want to have external dropdownlists for filtering the data that appears in the gridview, either with a FilterExpression or with parameters.
The problem is that querying the database to populate the dropdownlists takes a long time, because of the complexity of the query. The values in the dropdowns can vary based on other filters.
Is there some simple way of querying the database only once, for the main gridview, and then somehow querying the local (to ASP.NET) copy of the data to extract distinct values for populating the filtering dropdowns? I am thinking this might speed things up a bit.
a simple way to filter SQL data when it is retrieved by a GridView control?
Among the various applications I need to create are selecting records based on user inputed criteria (via a DropDownList), and excluding records that have null values (which I need to allow in my database) in certain columns.
I have the web page that meet the problem. There exists a gridview and filtering. When Select all by using function A, it is OK. when Filter by using function B, it cannot filter and return no rows. When Select all again, it is OK. I have tested that function B can return the corrected filtered rows. But when databind in the web page, it cannot show and no error?
