I have a Listview having dropdownlists..
these dropdownlists are initialized with some values through Onload function and then i've specified OnselectedIndexChanged function as well.... i need selected index value in the later function for database processing but...onload function gets called before and resets selected index value(i guess)...... my prblm is this -:
1. How can I get SelectedIndex value of dropdownlist embedded inside a listview....
2. I need to do utilize this selected index inside this OnSelectedIndexChanged function only

I have a link button inside a repeater. How would I directly call the serverside (ItemCommand) method during postback. I want to skip the page_load. The wierd thing happening is, if I put (!Postback) it doesn't execute other methods on postback but it does if I don't set the !postback condition. I have repeater inside a updatepanel in UserControl.

if yes, then what is the situations wherein i will require to do such a thing.

Suppose i have created one .js file name as: MyNoteBook.js. In this .js file i have written function as name count().
Now I am creating MyNoteBook.aspx page in asp.net. On the event of pageload of .aspx file, i want to call that count() function of that .js file. Is it is possible, If yes then tell me.

i have many aspx pages in one folder (100 pages) and they will keep increasing. I have 1 vb.net file which has the code for these pages. Can i call that pageload event in vb.net file from all these pages?

I have a masterPage on that i am using AjaxModalPopup for login purpose.My requirement is when i login via Master page then it should show the Logged-in User details on the current Content Page that is using same master page.
Here i am using following code to get it back to the same content page after succesful login but it does not show the user details on the same content page rather when i go to next page then it appears.

I am having a problem with dropdownlist auto post back set to true...
In my project I have to hide and display two other dropdown lists depends on selected index change of a main dropdown..
I set the auto postback to true and I am hiding and displaying the dropdowns on user selection...Everthing is working fine..
But I am having a very hard time when user types when the dropdown got focus..this is very annoying situation..if type one word its doing a postback and they are unable to type further...
is there any way to fire this onselectedindex change event on blur or on enter key press...is there a way of doing it with java script or jquery...

I'm making a call to a web service which returns some data I want to disply in a gridview.The data returned contains two columns "UseDate" & "Quantity" I need to sort the grid by UseDate on pageLoad...I can only make a call once every 120 seconds to return the data.
How can I get the GridView to sort?I have tried couple things but either it does nothing or I get an error... that the Grid fired an unhandled event.

I have a database where a user inputs data to multiple databound drop down listboxes. That's saved to my aspnet database. Then when the page loads again, I want to select the ddls items that the user selected as stored in the database to these databound ddls. But it doesn't work, because on pageload, they haven't been databound yet.
What's the best way to do this? Do I need to run a SELECT statement for each and every ddl on it's databound event?

I have a site (ASP.NET), which will display some search results. What I would like to do is load the page with search results, then have the client query my SQL database to check and see if any of the search results have been "Favorited" by the user. I know a little bit about JSON, SOAP, and HTTP Requests, but the only way that I know how to do this right now would be to create a page in my project that I could request from each returned result, and have that page validate the user from the cookie, query sql for the answer, and finally return a true or false to the client on whether to hide or show the "Favorite" icon.
A simple example of this (from everything I can tell) would be the Queue(_) count on Hulu. When I load the Hulu site, it has "Queue", then about 1 second later, it retrieves the actual count, and I get "Queue(1)"
Note: I've been googling and reading, but just haven't found the right resources yet.

I have a textbox with a regex validator attached to it and some stuff in the ontextchanged code behind. This all works fine unless I start the textbox out with Visible=false. Obviously, I'm setting the textbox.Visible to true later on in the codebehind, but when I do this, no postback occurs when the text changes. I'm pretty sure I have isolated the cause to when I change the visible property, but has anyone seen anything like this or know some sort of work around?

I have GridView with my own Edit/Update functionality.
What is the best place to put the call for the update function?
I know that placing the Update button will have the click event.
I have extra textboxes and other controls placed on the edit-mode that will have me to find them. So, what is the best place to put the call for the update function that will let me find these controls to be updated?
Is it via GridView_RowCommand and the use of CommandName ?
