Apr 26, 2010I have a grid which uses an objectdatasource. Data is correctly retrieved using the select method. When I add a new record a new row appears in the grid and I can enter my data. I do have access to the row on saving as I can access this new row from the Grid's insert method - using the GridRowEventArg like so (this is using an Obout grid control but the principle can be seen):

DataSource Controls :: Cannot Access Newly Added TableAdapter In DataSet
May 16, 2010I have a FileSystem based asp.net 2.0 app that uses Sql Server 2005 Express database.
I have only one dataset for this app with only 4 tables. After i have completed it to a part, a co-worker have added some Classes to it, which are not in same namespace of myBLL classes.
Then i tried added a new table to the dataset. It like all other tables in that dataset uses SQL Statements to access and manage data.
The problem started after i added that new table. I cannot access it from code. I can access all previous TableAdapters but not this new one.

Nov 18, 2010Recently i am working in VS2008 installed in windows xp SP2. In the toolbox i added a new tab and added some third party controls in the toolbox, by using "Choose Item" dialog.. I also added Ajax ToolKit to the tool box. It worked fine and i could drag n drop controls.
But then if i restart VS2008, all the tabs i created and controls in it goes off and disappears ncluding Ajax Toolkit. Each time i restart it, I have to have add those controls newly?
Is this a Bug?? or Is there any solution for this?

Apr 9, 2010I have a DetailsView using a LinqDataSource. I have it connected to DropDown so the user can select a record to edit. This configuration works. However when I add a record after I enter the data and press insert link the DetailsView reverts to another record. How can I make the DetailsView stay on the newly added record?
My add button calls:

However any new controls I've added for last week or so are not visible in the list. I cannot access their events. I have scoured the forums and tried everything I can think of, nothing works.

May 26, 2010I have a GridView with drop down boxes that are always in edit mode, and what I want to do is when the user sets a value in one of the drop downs I want to set the value in all of the drop downs BELOW that one (if they are not currently set) to the same value. However, the RowEditing and RowUpdating events never fire because techncially I'm not editing or updating the row.

Forms Data Controls :: How To Trim Values Edited Via A Gridview
Jun 1, 2010I have a standard gridview, populated via a SQLDataSource, with columns converted to templates.
The edit templates have text boxes. When saving edited data via these text boxes, I need to trim the values to remove any spaces.
How do you recommend doing so? I've tried various methods but none seem to work.
Currently my update parameters are specified in the SQLDataSource.

But my problem is Update button. How to save the record edited, in a dinamically gridview, when I can't programatically set the fields to be saved? Ie, I need to iterating with all fields in the gridview edited record and update. How to do this?

Now I'm getting this error saying that "it should be place in a form tag and runat="server"".

Jul 28, 2010I'm coding my first VB web application, which allows a user to input an order number and pull up invoice and shipping data linkd to that order number.
I have the first bit down and working, where the existing data in the database is displayed in the GridViews. One of the GridViews is set up to allow data editing, and I have syntax set to make the row editable, but I'm struggling with getting the "Update" link/functionality to work. I want to assign the values in each cell to an object (ie. 'dgInvNumber' for Invoice Number), but everything I've tried (been doing a ton of Google searching for help, but no luck yet) keeps giving me an "Object reference not set
to an instance of an object" error when I click the Update link for the row of data being edited.
At this point, I don't know what syntax to use to get the edited values out of the GridView row and assigned to objects for each cell (I have a total of 10 cells that can be edited in a row).
For background info, the GridView is set up with Bound Fields. I'm using Visual Studio 2005. Alot of places I've looked talk about TextBox controls and using FindControl. Also seen some places talk about DataBoundLiteral Controls. I tried the latter with no luck (still getting error). For TextBox controls, I don't understand how to use that part, since it mentions referencing the TextBox controls declared in the EditItemTemplates of the TemplateField column fields in the GridView control. But I didn't set up anything in the EditItemTemplates (that I know of).

Textboxes ID are :ACode , ADesc , ASeq

Now whats the story is ?After adding some data into textboxes , when a user clicks ADDRow BTN , that data gets saved into datatable , then that datatable gets binded to gridview and it shows my textboxes data in it .
What i want to achieve ?In my gridview i am use templateField and inside that template field there are textboxes ( Let the users edit the row without clicking any button ) .
Take an example of dummy data and problem persisting in there :for e.g i put some data in textboxes :ACode = "ABCD"ADesc = "EFGH"ASeq = "HIJK"Then i click Add BTN , it saves the data in datatable and show in gridview , now if i do this in gridview :ACode = "Edited ABCD"ADesc = "Edited EFGH too"ASeq = "WoW There"Then i click Add BTN , it removes the edited record in gridview and shows original data which had came earlier from textboxes :ACode = "ABCD"ADesc = "EFGH"ASeq = "HIJK"I don't want that to be done ... Jan 3, 2010I have a nested gridview dynamically added. It seems I resolved all issues with the loading this control on a parent page along with other controls and I can trigger the edit of the first level - the master part of the gridview. However, I cannot trigger the edit on a child gridview.

The master and the child gridviews have objectdatasources in a markup but I have to do the additional data binding after the loading the control on the parent page (see the code below). I'm doing that additional data binding only for the master gridview that is working fine and shows the data for the master and the child gridviews. When I click the Edit button on the master gridview it shows text boxes for the editing but when I click the Edit button on the child gridview it's doing nothing and moreover the editing mode for the master gridview is going back to the initial stage (labels).

There are following columns:
Reason, Remark1 & Remark2.
As per database designer's logic if there is no data in above field then he replace empty to 0 and in my gridveiw 0 is displaying whereever the cell is empty.
Now I just want to replace 0 to empty.
One more thing that if it displays 0 in a hyperlink Field then it should not be displayed.
