I assume this is because an input box is run on the page and th asp:textbox is run at theBasically I have some code (that took forever to find ) that takes the values from the url ex.www.mysite.com?value=thisand places it into an input box so I can do some other things to the value. but I need to automaticly copy this value into an asp:textbox to use for a gridview lookup.The code is written in javascript. so if anyone knows how I can copy the value from javascript variable to the asp:textbox that would be the best.

Apr 20, 2010I am using a textbox and button to get the user input (account number), this will be used as input to a data access class object (SQL) when the button is clicked. This action should populate the Formview control. I have bound the Formview control to the SQLdatasource and configured the SQLdatasource control to the textbox.TEXT property. What am I missing? What do I need to add to button_clicked event to get all this to work? One other thing, the textbox is in a table area separate from the formview control. I have each of the templates inside of the formview control in tables. The input textbox and button are displayed but the formview control is not, all of this is in a master/detail object.

Jun 3, 2010I have an ambitious requirement for an asp.net 2.0 web page that contains a table (gridview), and each row in the grid contains 6 select (dropdown) controls for data entry. The number of rows that will be displayed is dependent upon the user's search parameters, which are specified in another area of the page. Unfortunately, with the default (and even basic) search parameters specified, the grid could contain several hundred rows. I've noticed that the browser, in this case IE8, starts behaving rather erratically once I reach a large number of rows -- no documented evidence for the number of rows where this begins to be a problem. For example, trying to view the source of the page results in a message from IE stating that there was a problem with the page that forced the browser to reload it, and I never get the source. Obviously the page loads and renders rather slowly also.
I know that my solution is probably going to involve paging the gridview such that it only displays 20 or so rows per page, and I'll have to write code to handle the saving of changes in the dropdown values when the user changes pages. I can probably turn off viewstate on the gridview also. However, the question I really want to pose is this -- has anyone seen a documented rule indicating the maximum number of input controls that an HTML browser form is supposed to be able to contain? I could not find anything on the Internet after doing a search, and I suspect the answer may be whatever the browser can handle based on the machine configuration it is running on. Any rules of thumb you use?

I don't know ahead of time how many of these "or" conditions there will be - the user can choose as many or as few as they want. It seems that if I want to use an objectdatasource tied to a tableadpater I'm forced to know the number of parameters ahead of time so that I can build the objectdatasource's input parameters e.inputparameters.add doesn't work, because the key (in this case "id") is the same for each parameter because the where statment has "or"s....

It errors because there are records with null value for date1 when the records are returned from the database.
Is there a way to specify in the .aspx file telling it to ignore null or display null/blank?

In my .aspx page, I have a report header, an empty panel as a place holder, a report footer.In my .aspx.vb file, I'll loop through a list of departments. Within each department, I'll load a label to display the department name and the user control for the data, and add both the label and user control to the panel. So there are two variables:
the number of departments and the number of records in a user control.
Now I need to display the current page number and the total page number in the report footer. Is it doable? How? I'm thinking of this approach: declare a page variable count, count the number of department name labels and the number of records in a user control. When the total count reaches a number, such as 20, I'll break the page. This way, I can get the the page current number and the total number of pages. But how to add a page break to an asp.net page?

On IE6 adding Style="overflow-y:visible" accomplishes this nicely (both on display of read only, and if we are in edit mode).
However, it has no effect on Firefox, or IE7 for that matter.
