Forms Data Controls :: Imagebutton Onclientclick Causes Blank Row To Be Added To Gridview?
Jan 7, 2010
I have an image button in my gridview which I'm using to open a new window.
The code for my image button is:
[Code]....
This works fine, in that a new window is opened correctly, however, clicking the button causes a blank row to be added to the top of my grid.

I have a dropdown list, where when I select OPTION value a Textbox appears. The issue is that when, I submit directly the required filed errors gives me message for both ie for dropdown and Textbox. It should only give error for dropdown.
Second thing,
The textbox validation is not firing when submitted without any value in it.
see the code for your reference:
<asp:DropDownList ID="ddlGraduation" runat="server" CssClass="txtfld-popup_drp1">
</asp:DropDownList>
<asp:RequiredFieldValidator CssClass="error_msg" ID="reqGraduation" runat="server" ControlToValidate="ddlGraduation" ErrorMessage="Please select

I have an imagebutton with an postbackurl and an onclientclick script. When i added the onclientclick code, if my javascript validation passes (aka returns true), the page just seems to perform a postback (the screen just seems to refresh
<asp:ImageButton ID="imgSendInfo" runat="server" SkinID="SendInfo" PostBackUrl="MyUrlOnAnotherSite" onClientClick="javascript:return onFormSubmit(this.form);return document.MM_returnValue" />
I decided to change what JS functions Im calling now since calling Multiple functions definately wasnt helping. Here's my updated code. All Im doing now is validating a single textbox and returning true or false. Even this simple function is causing the postback URL to never get called. Could it have anything to do with the fact that Im trying to call a function to return a true or false?

I have a gridview with a template column that causes a postback on check changed in order to change display. It works fine:
[Code]....
And the code behind:
[Code]....
Works great, right? Well I wrote a small javascript file to make the checkboxes mutually exclusive, but now, while the post back refreshes and the javascript works, it does not show the popup extender anymore - it doesn't even enter the codebehind function.

i have a column in a gridview with an imagebutton in a column. i added an onclientclick event so that a html confirm dialog shows with ok and cancel button, so that if you click cancel, the event should not continue, but if you click ok, the gridviews onrowcommand should fire. The grid is as follows:

but when i click the button on the grid, the alert comes up and if i select ok, i get the following exception:

Why doesn't my "return confirm ()" work in my gridview template control ?
When I click on select the row the onclick event happens but the OnClientClick never happens.

I have a GridView with a couple of buttons (asp:Button) in it (last row). Both of them have a CommandName attribute on them and this is handled server side in a grid_RowCommand event handler. Now, this works fine. However, I need to add client side code (Javascript/jQuery) to disable the two buttons when someone clicks on or the other. This is to prevent the user from double-clicking and creating potential havoc.
The way I have done this is by adding OnClientClick on both buttons which calls a javascript function that uses jQuery to disable the two buttons. This works fine, it's just that the page doesn't post back and so the RowCommand event handler never fires.

Im working on app that queries another website, and pulls back an xml, I then populate a result panel with ImageButton(s), and time in a click event, when the image is click I want to popup a div box using the jquery ui, that will show more information, about the picture clicked on. however whenever id this this seems to wipe out my results panel(Panel Control) and the div box never appears and as far as I can tell the imagebutton click event never fires. I've tried doing this two ways one with an update panel and again without, I would appreciate any help on this.Im wondering if I'm doing to much long on my search button click, Im wonder if I should just let the post pack handle populating the result panel and ditch the update panel.(and yes my div tag is set to runat server)I'm also up for suggestions maybe there is a better way to do this, I thought creating hidden div tags for each item, and then running javascript for when the image is clicked and showing it that way, However that seems stupid, in my opinion it seems to make more sense to make my div control once and then update the labels inside it on each image click and then show or hide it.

Very new to C# although I have alot of older coding experience. Not much object orientated programming though. Anyways, I have a .net program I'm working on, basically to work on my skills although it will prove to be useful. I am keeping track of my work schedule. Currently, I am populating a datagridview from a sql 2008 express db. My columns are: date worked, hours, paid, and paidon. What I want to do is add an empty row whenever the date corresponds to a date that is "Monday". My goal is to line break every week. So that each work week (Mon-Sun) is seperated by a blank row. I would rather not actually have this blank row in the database. I would like the gridview to do this on the fly. Here is my gridview code in my default.aspx file:

I have a nested gridview dynamically added. It seems I resolved all issues with the loading this control on a parent page along with other controls and I can trigger the edit of the first level - the master part of the gridview. However, I cannot trigger the edit on a child gridview.
OnRowEditing="grdChildGridEdit_RowEditing"
The master and the child gridviews have objectdatasources in a markup but I have to do the additional data binding after the loading the control on the parent page (see the code below). I'm doing that additional data binding only for the master gridview that is working fine and shows the data for the master and the child gridviews. When I click the Edit button on the master gridview it shows text boxes for the editing but when I click the Edit button on the child gridview it's doing nothing and moreover the editing mode for the master gridview is going back to the initial stage (labels).
I was trying to trigger it throughuse the registering the event:

I have a gridview that has a column with an imagebutton. That image button event calls my update procedure and merely updates that records status and when the gridview rebinds, the image changes and is no longer available.Whats happening is if the page is refreshed, the update occurs again. If i add this around the update code, works great the first time, but then any other updates are ignored.. is there anyway to know wether the page was refreshed vs actual imagebutton postback?
if (!IsPostBack)
{
}
Since the update is just setting a flag for that record, on another page that displays those records for a seperate department. IF by chance the first page is still open and the 2nd department resets the flag, if the first page is refreshed, that flag is reset again. so its creating some inconsistant results..

I have a gridview populated with some data.
There are following columns:
Reason, Remark1 & Remark2.
As per database designer's logic if there is no data in above field then he replace empty to 0 and in my gridveiw 0 is displaying whereever the cell is empty.
Now I just want to replace 0 to empty.
One more thing that if it displays 0 in a hyperlink Field then it should not be displayed.

I have a single page with multiple gridviews.
[Code]....
The data binding is done manually in the code behind, which means you have to manually write the onpageindexchanging in there too. Normally that's done like so:
[Code]....
When you click to the next page on such a page, it is only blank if you have if(!Page.IsPostBack){} around your manual data binding. Well on this page with multiple gridviews I don't have that. But it's still blank when you click to the next page.

I have a gridview with a ButtonField. When I leave the button type as the default LinkButton, clicking that button fires the RowCommand and everything works as expected. As soon as I change the button type to ImageButton and assign an ImageUrl, clicking that button does not fire the RowCommand.

GridView: grvResultPrimary Key: FLTIDTextBox: txtRemarksThere is a button named btnAdd in the FormView named FormView2.txtRemarks is outside the form.The scenario is that if user wants to add a record with empty textbox and click btnAdd then how to restrict user to add empty row to gridview?I have tried Validation by controling txtRemarks but it is not helpful for me because in the page there is a FormView1, FormView2 and grvResult.If I am applying validation then all other updation methods of FormView1 and grvResult are disturbing.Simple is that I want to give option to user that without empty data using txtRemarks, user can enter data to grvResult.
