Web Forms :: RequiredFieldValidator Not Working When OnClientClick Is Added To Button?
May 7, 2015
I have a dropdown list, where when I select OPTION value a Textbox appears. The issue is that when, I submit directly the required filed errors gives me message for both ie for dropdown and Textbox. It should only give error for dropdown.
Second thing,
The textbox validation is not firing when submitted without any value in it.
I can't let my button's OnClientClick fire if the requiredFieldvalidator fails. I created a webform that defines my problem. displayMessageClient() will always run whether
RequiredFieldValidator passes or fails.
I want to run displayMessageClient() only if the RequiredFieldValidator passes
i do have a form. inside specific asp:textboxes are "secured" by RequiredFieldValidator and RegularExpressionValidator running. in another div-element i do have buttons, which are expected to load different pages of my website. the problem is: when i click on either of these buttons it is not working as my validation-controls are fired prior to the onclick-button-events.
I create a new website in VS 2010 (VB .Net). I add a table, within it i add a textbox, a button and a RequiedFieldValidator. I set the RFV ControlTValidate property to the textbox. When i move(click or tab) away from the textbox, the RFV doesnt kick in the error message that i have set.
The RFV code is <asp:RequiredFieldValidator ID="RequiredFieldValidator1" runat="server" ControlToValidate="txtEnterName" ErrorMessage="RequiredFieldValidator" InitialValue="0" ForeColor="#FF3300"></asp:RequiredFieldValidator> Texbox <asp:TextBox ID="txtEnterName" runat="server" Width="221px"></asp:TextBox>
I've recently finished building one of my first websites (and CMS) in ASP.NET but have came across a problem where a RequiredFieldValidator isn't working as it should do? I originally created the admin page to not require the RequiredFieldValidator, but now that I do need it the page won't acknowledge it's there. I have even set the field in the database to not accept nulls, but the query will still insert a null value into the database (SQL Server 2008 Express).
The TextBox that I'm referring to is "txtSectionTitle"
is it possible to stop postback Button OnClientClick()
[Code]....
[Code]....
[Code]....
so everytime it's displaying me result even if i do postback
thing is that i know i can use validator control's to validate my textbox ,but i am using some custom validations which needs to be checked before submitting of a form.
only that why i m using OnClientClick()
so i want is it possible to Control Postback it should occur only after a OnClientClick() event validationa re truel
I have a FormView in which I have placed RequiredFieldValidators on some of the input controls in EditItemTemplate. But the validators all don't work when I hit the submit button.
I've tried FormView1.FindControl("RequiredFieldValidator1").Enabled = true but the compiler complains that 'System.Web.UI.Control' does not contain a definition for 'Enabled'.
I have a page for a product listing using a datalist control. I have customized the item template and added a link button that says Click to Order. I then databound that linkbutton with the onclientclick to the "ProductID" field, but I would like to set a variable or use some method of getting the productID of which item they clicked so I can add that product to an order. I cannot understand how to find out which item was clicked though... here is my code:
and when I click my button, it is disabled for 1-2 seconds and automatically enabled, but I am not sure why it is enabled. I didn't add any part for it to be enabled again.
I have a button for which there is a OnClientClick() event which calls a javascript method on clicking the button. Everything is good till this point. Now, when clicking on ENTER button on the key board instead of clicking on BUTTON the Java script is not being called.
I have Onclientclick event attached to the button in serverside code like below,
[Code]....
Also, the onClick event is attached for the same button in the aspx page,
[Code]....
The serverside click event should fire if the onclientclick javascript function return true. The "ValidateData()" function is called to validate the entries in the form. This code is working fine in IE. But in Firefox, both events are not firig. If I remove the line "TopPanelButton.OnClientClick =..." then onClick event is firing.
I have a GridView with a couple of buttons (asp:Button) in it (last row). Both of them have a CommandName attribute on them and this is handled server side in a grid_RowCommand event handler. Now, this works fine. However, I need to add client side code (Javascript/jQuery) to disable the two buttons when someone clicks on or the other. This is to prevent the user from double-clicking and creating potential havoc.
The way I have done this is by adding OnClientClick on both buttons which calls a javascript function that uses jQuery to disable the two buttons. This works fine, it's just that the page doesn't post back and so the RowCommand event handler never fires.
I have one TextBox with RequiredFieldValidator control and LinkButton on my page.
May occur the following situation on this page:
I filled the texbox and clicked the linkbutton is make postback on the server - so all ok.When I not filled the textbox and clicked linkbutton it will show message "Please enter your first name." and no postback will happen but when I filled textbox and click linkbutton I got a PROBLEM : Message "Please enter your first name." goes away (correct), but it doesn't preventing posback.
The OnClientClick code disables the button so that the user cannot submit more than once. It also changes the text of the button to "Please wait..."
Trouble is, because it is getting disabled the "Please wait..." text looks rubbish... How can I style the button so that even though it is disabled, it looks enabled, within javascript.
<script type="text/javascript"> function btnSubmit_ClientClick(Client) { var ok = Page_ClientValidate(); if (ok) {
I have a WebForms app that uses a field validator on a dropdownlist. It works in IE but not FireFox. This is pretty straightforward stuff I'm doing. Here are the setups for the dropdown and validator:
I'm running ASP.Net 2.0 on the web server. Javascript is enabled on the FireFox browser-- this problem happens on all FF browsers I've tested, on multiple everyday machines, so I don't believe it's due to a locked down install.
dear all, my requiredfieldvalidator is screwing up my ok button in my modalpopup and I dont know why. In otherwords, once I include my requiredfieldvalidator and the user clicks ok in the modalpopup, the ok doesnt get fired. see my code below.
