Sep 19, 2010i have a listview (table layout) bind to a sqldatasource (sqlprocedure) with a datapager for custom paging and custom sorting using linkbuttons.
The problem is, if i click on a linkbutton to sort, the datapager jumps always to the first page.
Is there any way to keep the current page on sorting?
I tried DataPager.SetPageProperties() on sorting event, but it doesn't work.

Dec 28, 2010I have a gridview with 30 columns and I need to print the whole gridview. I tried in some way but its resulting not in good thing. I need to print the gridview in two or three pages. The gridview having paging also in it. How can I do this? I need serial number for each row for all the pages of the gridview in the print part.

Jul 21, 2010My webpage has logo..some other controls and a gridview. The gridview can attimes have huge number of records.So when they save the file as a pdf, and the gridview cannot fit on 1 page...some rows of gridview are displayed on 1st page and then continued on next page no headings...So in order to allow all the text on one page and show the grid properly I have enabled paging on gridview. But now the problem is when they save the final page as pdf, they see just the first page of the grid.is there a way that user can save all the pages(gridview) in same file but separate pages or turning off pagination and displaying the grid on next page with heading repeat?

Nov 14, 2010I made my own master-detail pages using a listview. Rather than url, I use a listview event to set a session variable and response.redirect to the detail page, which on Page Load, loads the data from the database using the session variable, where it can then be edited. The details page is basically just text boxes and dropdownlists, but I used some third party controls and it all looks really sharp.
Here is the corner I pained myself into. Several dependent dropdowns on the master page filter the main listview. If I go back to the master page using response.redirect, the user would have to use the dropdowns again just to get back to where they were before they went to the details page. This is just not going to work.
To further complicate things, I wanted the master page to have paging on it. So if a back button reloads the page, they would have to set the dropdowns again, and page through the data again if needed. Egads.
The closest I have come to working is using a javascript back back button, but this fails after some postbacks on the details page (that are needed). And of course, the master page isn't refreshed when you go back to it (but I could probably live with that).

Feb 6, 2011Per different user mode, some pages should not be accessible by users unless they have a valid session key.In your opinions -- would it be better to have a list of acceptable pages in the master page, and check if the current page is valid for the current user? Or handle this on every child page?I'm thinking master page, just want to hear what your input would be.

Jan 20, 2011I'm new to ASP.net (and coding in general) and I was very impressed about how easy is to learn enough to create something useful :)
Unfortunately, now I'm stuck on a problem involving gridview sorting and paging: I created a master gridview bound to an sqldatasource, I enabled sorting and paging and then I linked it to a detailsview to enable editing and inserting.
In addition, I set up two other gridviews whose datasources depend on the master gridview.
When a user selects a row and modifies it in the detailsview, the sort takes place and the row is often moved to another page. This can be a little confusing, especially because there are other controls relying on the selected row of the master gridview.
There's a way to find and select the page of the selected row after gridview's databind and sort take place? I tried creating a dataview to search the index of the selected datakey in the databound event of my gridview, but it doesn't work, because it seems that the rows aren't sorted yet. Maybe I should choose another event?

C# - Accessing Current Item From ListView Data Source?
Jan 23, 2011I figured this wouldn't be too difficult to do, but I can't seem to figure out how to do it. Is there a way to easily access the current item from a ListView data source? For instance, you can easily evaluate the current item's properties using Eval("propertyName"), but is there a way to access the object itself?
And if this isn't possible, what I ultimately want to do is get the Type of the object.

Jan 29, 2010I have a page with a gridview control that shows files that have been uploaded to our site. The name of the uploaded files, who uploaded them, and if they have been downloaded, etc are stored in a table. The gridview is bound to the table through a sqlDataSource control. I have a button column in the gridview that downloads the file associated with a row when the button is clicked. All that works well. I have a check box column that shows checked if a file has been downloaded. When the download button is pressed.
the file downloads and then a short routine is run to update the downloaded field in the uploaded files table to set the downloaded field to true. This is done through a command string. All this works. Here is the question. After the update is run I do a databind on the gridview to update it. The databind is run in the PageLoad event is the page is a postback. This does not cause the current row to show downloaded =true (checked). If I refresh the page in the browser then it displays correctly.

Jul 23, 2010I am using Eval inside a datalist to populate a hyperlink within the datalist with a navigateURL value and I am using it as follows:

The issue I am facing is that the current page URL is getting appended to the 'LinkAddress'(the URL being fetched from the database) and thus,the final URL formed is not a valid one.Can someone suggest how do I remove the current page URL? Is there any way it can be done without writing code in the code behind page?

Aug 10, 2010I have a web user control with DataList control in it. In my .aspx page, I have a report header, an empty panel as a place holder, a report footer.In my .aspx.vb file, I'll loop through a list of departments. Within each department, I'll load a label to display the department name and the user control for the data, and add both the label and user control to the panel. So there are two variables:
the number of departments and the number of records in a user control.
Now I need to display the current page number and the total page number in the report footer. Is it doable? How? I'm thinking of this approach: declare a page variable count, count the number of department name labels and the number of records in a user control. When the total count reaches a number, such as 20, I'll break the page. This way, I can get the the page current number and the total number of pages. But how to add a page break to an asp.net page?
