Restricting Certain Pages -- Redirect On Every Page? Or On Master Page By Viewing Current Page In Url?
Feb 6, 2011
Per different user mode, some pages should not be accessible by users unless they have a valid session key.In your opinions -- would it be better to have a list of acceptable pages in the master page, and check if the current page is valid for the current user? Or handle this on every child page?I'm thinking master page, just want to hear what your input would be.
I have a project that is based on a Master Page. I also have user controls that I use as well. Any page that requires scrolling in Design Mode will not scroll. The scroll bar is disabled. I have to switch to Source Mode and then add the text that I need or find the controls that need modified or updated. I have user controls that require scrolling as well but they work just fine. Only the pages tied to the master page. This is very annoying and only happens on certain projects.
I have a master page setup that is used throughout my site that is basically a header with a menu. I recently added a textbox and a button to this master page which is to be a quick search box that is available anywhere in the site. When a user enters text into the search box and hits the button, I need to load the actual content page which is used to search and show search results (which also uses this same master page), and have the text entered available so the search can be triggered automatically. Again, this search text box and button is now in my master page so it could be triggered from anywhere in the app... it serves as a convenient way to do a basic search from anywhere in my app, without having to first navigate to the actual 'search page' that already exists. You can also navigate to the actual search page, which uses the same master page, where there is many more search options.I'm thrown off by the master page arrangement, which I have not used until this project. What do I do?
I need to be able to programmatically determine the doctype of the current page (.aspx), whether its set directly within the page itself, or via a master page. The reason is so I can output correctly formatted html from custom controls or components based on whether the doctype is plain html, xhtml, xml
I have a master page which has several ContentPlaceHolders. Not all of them are used by the current content page all the time. During page rendering the master page needs to set a property when a ContentPlaceHolder wasn't used by the current content page. Meaning a ContentPlaceHolder might not be referenced by the content page. What's the best way for the master page to iterate through its ContentPlaceHolders and find out which ones haven't been used by the current content page? Looking for a solution that does not involve any communication from content page to master page.

How to get the current page name in ASP.Net using C# and VB.Net .... Now I need to find the name of the current page in ASP.Net Master Page, for example if the page [URL].... is, I need to get the name Default.aspx ....
Currently I'm doing common functionality required throughout my site inside of my masterpage. What I want to do is move this functionality to a BaseClass so All my pages inherit from the Base Class. However, I'm not sure how to set this up interms of c# code with regards to Using a Base Class and then having a masterpage applied to my aspx pages that i create.
I got a Master page and nested master pages in the subfolders.
Top Level Master page
Second Level Master page inherited Top Level Master page
Third Level Master page inherited Second Level Master page
However, changes (i.e. new images & alt. name) that I made in the Top level master page did not apply to the second or third levels. My webpage has a correct front page but not in the sections. How can i correct this ?
<asp:Content ID="TitleContent1" ContentPlaceHolderID="PageTitlePlaceHolder" runat="Server"> My Page </asp:Content>
This works by placing the content page specific title on the page ("My Page" in this example). Now I want to add a global prefix to the title in my master page for the site name. So I want:
I'm a bit confused. Using asp.net VB 2010 - how can i make it when someone types mydomainname.com it automatically pushes the site to www.mydomainname.com? I am using a hosted server so I dont have access to the IIS.
Also, how can i check on a certain page if the user is viewing that page via ssl? ex: send [URL]
I have a logon/register control that is on several pages. Users are logged on with code: - FormsAuthentication.SetAuthCookie(Userid, False) Response.Redirect(Request.Url.AbsoluteUri) ' Round trip is necessary to complete logon
All this was working OK, except that there was a problem with Internet Explorer users: if their browser had the default privacy setting the authorization cookie was rejected. There was no message, but they were not logged on. See [URL] To try to solve this problem I changed to cookieless authentication, but now the logon control doesn't work. The problem is that after cookieless authentication the URL changes from
[URL]
However Request.Url.AbsoluteUri remains http://localhost:3641/TestGDB/login_pages/home2.aspx even after the logon, and so with cookieless authentication the user is not logged on as there is no authentication ticket in the redirect URL.
The problem is "solved" by changing the Redirect statement to Response.Redirect("~/login_pages/home2.aspx") which works perfectly for this particular page, but is obviously wrong when the control is on other pages.
I'm prototyping an environment where multiple applications run on the same server, but they all share a master page. Is it possible to load a master page from another application? In one of my applications, I have this code:
What this does is set the master page to a file sitting outside my current application. (Note the ".." after the tilde -- so I'm going to the root of my current app, then stepping up a directory to find a master page.)
ASP is displeased with this:
The virtual path '/MasterPages/Root.master' maps to another application, which is not allowed. I understand that it might be stressed out about the fact that there's no backing class for it, but what if I have nothing in the code-behind, and I choose not to inherit my master page from anything -- so the entire thing is contained in the ".master" file?Is there any way to do this?
I have 40 record in database. But I am displaying 10 record in each page in store grid by using grid pannel.Similarlly, I am using Ajax for events. But the problem is when I refresh the page or grid, it shows first record in first page. how can I get current page data when refreshing data?
I am using Master page and Content page combination. But how can i access <body> tag and it's event (onload, onunload) of Master page in .aspx page that is not a content page.
I have a master page homeMaster.aspx and many content pages. However the situation is I have few .html pages. Now when a user clicks on a link the html page should get loaded.inside the master page. The problem is these are .html and not content page with .aspx.
I wrote a page Page method in my aspx page. in web service method I need to call FindControl method return textbox and get text box value. But my findControl will take MasterPage object to iterate.
code.<script type = "text/javascript"> function ShowCurrentDateTime() { $.ajax({ [code]....
But I am getting compiler error when use Page.Master: Reference to non-shared member requires an object reference
How to pass Master Page object or Page to Page method?. So I can use in Sared method. Is there any way I can access Textbox value directly in Page method? I need access couple of controls in Page Method.
I have web servie and web application ..Request hit from widows application to web service .if any request got means i need to redirect to some others pages in web application ,how can we do ..web application always open in server ..
I have an asp.net content page which is used inside of a master page (with header, menu and some links). I would like to reuse it in a different context without the master page (to not display the header and menu there), or with an empty master page if this is somehow possible. I don't want to violate DRY principle by taking the whole page and creating a standalone clone of it for obvious reasons. Is this somehow possible ?
