I've got Gridview returning a list of records in response to query... NOW, from that list of records, I need to be able to select ONE of the records, show it online in another form (some kind of data "Tool") AND also write the record to another table in an Access database...

I have two tables. One table containing 1 master record and the other table containing multiple records per 1 master record. I want to only display in a gridview (or whatever is best) the master record AND its assocated detail records IF certain fields in the detail records are there. View 9 RepliesI have to delete record from the database and I am using the data list control to display the data. I have to delete the data from two table, that means I have to pass an id to a stored procedure which will delete the data from the database.
I am confused how can I do this? As I am not using the generic functionaliteis of the DataList Control and I don't want to use them. I have alos another choice to create a new page and pass the id through query string using hyperlink. But I don't want to do that?
I am developing page for maintaing employee record using Visual Studio 2008, MS SQL server 2005. I am able to fetch and display all the employee information in gridview, the gridview have the dropdown list to display the employee type [ Part Time, Full Time, Permanent , Contract ], in the item template i am having dropdown list. IN the dropdown list i am displaying this. But While saving the record in gridview the droppdown selected index are changed to 0 of other dropdown list.
the user may be change the dropdown value from permanent to contract, or so. but while click on the save button in gridview, all the previous selection are gone, and always showing the first record of dropdown list. I know this is happening because we are doing dropdown list bind on onRowDataBound.

I ahve a DDL in a GridView page. I use a DDL to select the list to be presented in the GridView. The GridView has a hyperlinkto a DetailsView to Edit the selected item. When the user either cancels or updates the DetaislView want the user to be sent back to the GridView page and display the same data that was therewhen they left do the can edit another item off the same list olr select a new item from the DDLto present a new list to edit.It was suggested to use a Session Bag. I have no clue how to do this.I am guessing it would have something to do with the selected index of the DDL but not sure.I sort of need a step by step on this or some code samples to start to get a handle on it.

When i try and update a field of the latest record, the entire column, related to the field of the filtered search gets modified. I want to only update a field of the last record i.e. the last entry of the filtered data. How can i achieve it?
View 5 RepliesI have to retreive all records from a table except 1 record. For example: I give example from default database in SQL ie "master" In "master" DB we have "spt_values" table. Now if I want to retreive all records from spt_values table except 1-1 record of type = A and type = B. To retreive all records its a simple query "Select * from spt_values where type in ('A','B')" -- this will returns 16 records. Now I want to retreive all record except 1-1 record left in each type, so it will return 14 records in result.
