I have customer data in MSSQL database. More than 1million records i have. I want to select a random 2000 records
from the one million record and do some manipulation. After manipulating the data i want to store that data to some other database.
How to achive it in c# and MSSQL2008?

What I need are all the items from the first list "Items", where the string contains something from the second list "List".So I need something which returns the first 3 items (which contain the term "Item") from the first list.
I am trying to make a way so that I can have a group with items in it, each one of the items (which is an object in a list) having a double type value, the total of all the items in the group is 100 when you add up all their properties. The purpose of this is that there can be random selection of the items.
for example:
item 1 percent property: 25.0
item 2 percent property: 25.0
item 3 percent property: 25.0
item 4 percent property: 25.0
When a request comes in, I need to be able to pick 1 of these items at the rate of 25% so that after a while (more and more requests) that each of these gets very close to 25%. I have tried looking at random numbers but pulling a number back seems useless in this case because for example if a random number retrieved was the number 5.4, how would I send it to an item? I cannot keep a history of the item requests so that I can factor that in. I need to be able to pick a random number and over time have each of these 4 items be selected an equal amount of times, the percentages and amount of items is going to change constantly but the sum of all the percent properties within a group is 100%. What is the best way to accomplish this in C# with a web form?

I ahve a DDL in a GridView page. I use a DDL to select the list to be presented in the GridView. The GridView has a hyperlinkto a DetailsView to Edit the selected item. When the user either cancels or updates the DetaislView want the user to be sent back to the GridView page and display the same data that was therewhen they left do the can edit another item off the same list olr select a new item from the DDLto present a new list to edit.It was suggested to use a Session Bag. I have no clue how to do this.I am guessing it would have something to do with the selected index of the DDL but not sure.I sort of need a step by step on this or some code samples to start to get a handle on it.

I have a databound dropdownlist and have a problem with the default value it selects.When I attempt to edit a record the dropdownlist shows the first value in the list rather than the current value. I want the dropdown list to display the current value.

How would I create a list then on click add data to the list which is then stored into a session variable, then on another page retrieve the variable and output them? Currently I have:

And i made the required modification to the view and the select list was displayed successfully.But i faced the following two problems:-
1. i need to use the same select list in more than one controller , so for now i have to insert the same code in each controller to add the select list, so is there a way to define this select list in one place and then reuse it in all the related controllers
2. when i select a new value from the select list and i click on save button , the old value for the list will still be displayed ,and also no effect to the DB will be made.
