Gridview - What Property Exists To Find Out If The Grid Renders Or Not

Nov 17, 2010

When there is no DataSource assigned to my grid it doesn't render which is great!

When the datasource is empty it doesn't render - also great :-)

I am implementing some custom navigation so i want to know if there is a property that tells me if the dataview is rendered? If it is rendered i can show my custom bits otherwise i don't.

Web Forms :: How To Find Out What HTML Does Each Server Control Renders

Mar 7, 2011

I try to run each control and then check what html did it render.

But this seems to me as an inaccurate method as whenever we add or remove the properties, or events of the control,the rendered HTML changes. Is there any book/tutorial/article to explain what is the standard HTML rendered by each asp.net control.

C# - DirectoryInfo And Path.GetDirectoryName - Exists Method Returns False While Exists?

Dec 13, 2010

I would like to check whether a folder exists or not if not create. I'm sure this folder exists, but for some reason I get "false" when I check with "Exists" method.

The only reason I think could be because of the W: drive? I moved this application to production site and even there it returns false.

while I'm type in Windows explorer on my localhost and on the server "W:/Webs/ASPPages/cropper/uploads" it opens this folder. So my localhost and IIS server has W: mapping.

for test I tried to create the folder then it says can't find the path...

userFolderName = @"W:/Webs/ASPPages/cropper/uploads"
//I also tried @"W:WebsASPPagescropperuploads"
//I also tried @"W:WebsASPPagescropperuploads"
//I also tried "W:\Webs\ASPPages\cropper\uploads"
DirectoryInfo dirInfo = new DirectoryInfo(userFolderName);........

Forms Data Controls :: Find Textbox In A Grid?

Feb 14, 2010

I'm trying to find my textboxes in a grid. I have tried this way:

protected void btnAddJournalDetail_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
JournalDetail detail = new JournalDetail();
foreach (GridViewRow row in grdJournals.Rows)
{
detail.Address = ((TextBox)row.FindControl("txtAddress")).Text;
detail.Area = 5;//int.Parse(((TextBox)row.FindControl("txtArea")).Text.ToString());
detail.City = ((TextBox)row.FindControl("txtCity")).Text;
detail.Company = ((TextBox)row.FindControl("txtCompany")).Text;
detail.Contact = ((TextBox)row.FindControl("txtContact")).Text;
detail.Phone = ((TextBox)row.FindControl("txtPhone")).Text;
detail.Reception = ((TextBox)row.FindControl("txtReception")).Text;
detail.Volume = 0;// int.Parse(((TextBox)row.FindControl("txtVolume")).Text.ToString());
detail.ZipCode = ((TextBox)row.FindControl("txtZipCode")).Text;
Label lblDetailResult = (Label)row.FindControl("lblDetailResult");
}

When it gets inserted in the db the fields are blank except for volume and area so I think I have done something wrong when I'm trying to find the controls.

Forms Data Controls :: Passing Grid As A Property To User Control?

Aug 10, 2010

In my project, I need to create a user control to handle the sorting and pagination of all the grids in the application. The grid however will be different in different pages with different formatting.

I am able to do this by exposing a property from user control which takes gridview as the input.

then in page load, i bind this grid, and assign the sorting and paging event handlers to this gridview variable.

This way I am able to do the sorting and paging, but the problem is I have to bind the grid in all the post backs, and then in the sorting and paging events.

So when a user sorts, I have to bind the grid twice, once in page_load and then in sort event of user control.

I can store the first set of records in viewstate and bind that in page load, but is there any other way, so that i dont need to bind the grid in all post backs but only inside of not postback.

1) Here I have used LINQ. So calling stored procedure again and we can done using .Count () property. But here I don't want make call to data base again.2) Creating our own logic like here I have done like:

(dtgCustomerSearch.PageCount - 1) * (dtgCustomerSearch.PageSize) + dtgCustomerSearch.Items.Count

The above result gives me correct result only when I am on last page.

Displaying GridView When No Data Exists?

Mar 3, 2010

I am using a sqldatasource for filling one GridView and on page loading or before taking any action, there is no data (default value=null) and normally the datagrid is empty (using emptydatatext="no records found etc etc...").. Issue is I can not see the header of that grid in empty case, but only the emptydatatext!

I have tried to use some code of the references below, but no success, because I'm not using DataTable control as a DataSource, but directly filling the gridview from sqldatasource! useless references:

[URL]

P.S. I'm not usign DataTable as a DataSource, but sqldatasource (from the Data Controls), and I want to show header, when sqldatasource is null or empty ?!

Forms Data Controls :: Check If A GridView Exists?

Dec 9, 2010

I have a page with a simple textbox, when an OrderNo is entered in te textbox the page is populated with 2 or 3 gridviews depending if the order has items reserved or on back order.

GridView1 has data about the order, like status, payment details.

GridView2 has data about orderitems, each row displays an item from the order with stock and order quantities

GridView3 has data about backorders, each row displays an item from the order with quantity reserved and quantity on back order. As is no data for GridView3 if order is not on backorder I thought that I can enclose my code inside an if block

if GridView3 isnot nothing then

'getting some data from the cells in GridView3
endif

but the code still executes.
