HTTP Post Doesn't Work On Internet Explorer 8 (after Redirection)

Feb 4, 2011

I'm trying to redirect a domain to another site, without changing the first URL (users should keep viewing http://www.myurl.org since the new URL would be https://wwws.enterprisedomain.com).

I could do this, inserting a frame in the index.htm of the first domain (I know it's not the best practice, but it worked well for now):

<frame name="main" src="https://wwws.enterprisedomain.com">

The fact is that https://wwws.enterprisedomain.com has a login mechanism in ASP.NET. It's OK on Firefox and Chrome, but when we use Internet Explorer 8, it seems that POST doesn't work!

Http - Download .wav File Within Internet Explorer

Jul 8, 2010

I'm just trying to sent a .wav file to Internet Explorer with an ASP.net Handler:

public void ProcessRequest(HttpContext context)
{
HttpResponse response = context.Response;
response.ContentType = "audio/x-wav";
response.WriteFile("MyWav.wav");
response.AddHeader("Content-Length", "304578");
response.Flush();
}

This works for Firefox and Chrome but I'm just presented with a blank screen in Internet Explorer. Why?(I've tried setting the "Content-Disposition" header. If I set it to "attachment" I am presented with the download dialog. If I set it to "inline", I just get a blank page like before.

Installation :: Internet Explorer Doesn't Know App Is On Intranet After Adding Host Header

Feb 15, 2011

I have an intranet web app that uses .NET and Windows Authentication and IIS 7.5.

I originally accessed it with the URL http://computername ... that worked fine and there was no prompt for the username & password.

Then we set up a DNS entry and a host header so we could access it with a more realistic url (for example http://appname.mydomain.org) - I can still get to the site, but there's a username & password prompt even if I'm on the same network. We want to get
rid of this prompt...

I was able to remove the prompt by adding http://appname.mydomain.org to my Intranet sites in Internet Explorer settings - but is there a global fix or a server-side fix for this that wouldn't involve changing a setting on every client computer? My users and not technical at all and they're not going to know how to change that setting.

Alternatively, is there a way that an administrator could push this Internet Explorer setting to all computers on the network? I'm a software developer not a network admin so I'm a bit over my head on this one ... I would probably need to give them instructions about how to do it even though it's not my specialty.

AJAX :: Showing Popup Control Via Javascript Doesn't Work On Explorer 7

Mar 19, 2010

I'm using the following function (found on this forum) to display a popup control from the server-side:

on the server:

ScriptManager.RegisterStartupScript(this, GetType(), "userInfoPopScript",
string.Format("showPopup('{0}', 2);", targetControlClientId)
, true);

on the client:

[code]....

this works great for explorer 8 , firefox, chrome but on explorer 7 my page just jumps to the left and doesn't show the popup at all.

If I remove the set__parentElementID call, then the popup is displayed but in the wrong position (of course).

Iframe Cookie With Internet Explorer?

Aug 23, 2010

I am developing an ASP.NET 4.0 web application in which I am trying to use an iframe to load a third party website:

<iframe id="ifr1" src="http://newdomain.com?id=test&password=123"
width="100%" height="600px">
</iframe>

The newdomain.com is trying to place cookies in the browser and IE dosent like that. I have no control over the application hosted on the newdomain.com. I have read a lot of articles which talk about having a P3P information added to the header of the page which hosts the iframe. So in my application's Global.asax I have the following code:

protected void Application_BeginRequest(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
HttpContext.Current.Response.AddHeader("p3p", "CP="IDC DSP COR ADM DEVi TAIi PSA PSD IVAi IVDi CONi HIS OUR IND CNT"");
}

But this doesn't work and I am really confused now.
