How can I unit test an action which alters the Http Response object? I haven't been able to solve this. I can mock the object but can't see how I can check the value after the action runs. I set the Response.StatusCode when errors occur in ajax requests and need to check it has been set in the unit test. The only alternative I can see is to change all my actions to return json objects with a IsSuccessful flag or similar.

I'm trying to redirect a domain to another site, without changing the first URL (users should keep viewing http://www.myurl.org since the new URL would be https://wwws.enterprisedomain.com).
I could do this, inserting a frame in the index.htm of the first domain (I know it's not the best practice, but it worked well for now):
<frame name="main" src="https://wwws.enterprisedomain.com">
The fact is that https://wwws.enterprisedomain.com has a login mechanism in ASP.NET. It's OK on Firefox and Chrome, but when we use Internet Explorer 8, it seems that POST doesn't work!

The objective of this component is to be able to forward whatever HTTP requests it receives to forward to a different server based on the parameters but keeping the URL and POST data intact. For example:
If the component receives
[URL]
It will return the response from either
[URL]
where XYZ can be valid name of the page. I think I can probably individually create each page to do a Response.Redirect but i am wondering if there is a more generic way to do this? In addition, is this something I have to configure on the IIS level rather than code level?

In one section of my site I have a response.redirect that calls a PHP script and returns to PDF file to a save/open dialog box.
This works -
Response.Redirect("http://webaddress.com/get_proof.php?rep=" & rep.ToString("000")
& "&filename=" & ViewState("sjobnoproof") &
"_s.pdf")
In another section i get the security warning from IE on the top. Users have to say yes and page refreshes and they to go back and do it again.
Response.Redirect("http://webaddress.com/get_ar.php?path=" & ViewState("reportsfranid")
& "_ADMIN/Client Files/Group" & ViewState("reportsgroup") &
"/" & ViewState("reportsrepid") &
"_" & ViewState("reportslastname") &
"&filename=" &
"CON_Modified.pdf")

I've just finished reading URL vs. URI vs. URN, in More Concise Terms, and it's really helped understand the distinction between the three terms. Since then I've skimmed the RFC2141 and RFC2616 specs and Microsoft's Response.Redirect Method documentation in an effort to answer the following question confidently.
Given this line of code:
Response.Redirect("~/Foo.aspx");
And this resulting HTTP response (trimmed for context):
Status=Found - 302 Date=Wed, 24 Nov
2010 17:27:58 GMT
Server=Microsoft-IIS/6.0
X-Powered-By=ASP.NET
X-AspNet-Version=2.0.50727
Location=/MyWebApp/Foo.aspx
What name(s) most properly describes what has been placed into the "Location" header?
URL? URI? URN? URC? Which is it?

I transferred my precompiled Default.aspx and all related image files to the main folder of my www.freewebs.com account. I also transferred App_Code.compiled, App_Code.dll, App_Web_c871ipga.dll, App_Web_s_wu1khu.dll, App_Web_vy0pwb06.dll, and default.aspx.cdcab7d2. compiled in a new bin folder. When I accessed the URL address for the Default.aspx file in my freewebs account, all that I got back on my browser was: This is a marker file generated by the precompilation tool, and should not be deleted!
I also tried to deploy without precompilation. However, when I transferred my uncompiled Default.aspx web page to my freewebs account and entered [URL] what I got back on my browser was only a listing of the source code for the web page complete with my C# script code. Why can't I execute an ASP.NET web page?

I just observed something with the .net 3.5 VS2010 Login control. It seems to response.redirect is doing
something I cant explain:
[Code]....
after I hit the response.redirect all that is happening is that I stay on the login page and the URL
changes to http://localhost:50324/Account/Login.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fAccount%2fAdmin%2fApproval.aspx
Why am I not properly redirected? I used server.transfer, that put me on the right page (Approval.aspx) BUT as soonas I clicked a button, I was back at Login.aspx.

I have a logon/register control that is on several pages. Users are logged on with code: - FormsAuthentication.SetAuthCookie(Userid, False) Response.Redirect(Request.Url.AbsoluteUri) ' Round trip is necessary to complete logon
All this was working OK, except that there was a problem with Internet Explorer users: if their browser had the default privacy setting the authorization cookie was rejected. There was no message, but they were not logged on. See [URL] To try to solve this problem I changed to cookieless authentication, but now the logon control doesn't work. The problem is that after cookieless authentication the URL changes from
[URL]
However Request.Url.AbsoluteUri remains http://localhost:3641/TestGDB/login_pages/home2.aspx even after the logon, and so with cookieless authentication the user is not logged on as there is no authentication ticket in the redirect URL.
The problem is "solved" by changing the Redirect statement to Response.Redirect("~/login_pages/home2.aspx") which works perfectly for this particular page, but is obviously wrong when the control is on other pages.
How do I write "Response.Redirect(current page)"?

I want to redirect to "~/City/Göteborg", but if I just write Response.Redirect("~/City/Göteborg"); I will end up with an ugly URL in the address-bar like this: http://www.mysite.com/City/G%c3%b6teborg..
So my question is how to redirect to obtain a clean url like http://www.mysite.com/City/Göteborg?

I'm just trying to sent a .wav file to Internet Explorer with an ASP.net Handler:
public void ProcessRequest(HttpContext context)
{
HttpResponse response = context.Response;
response.ContentType = "audio/x-wav";
response.WriteFile("MyWav.wav");
response.AddHeader("Content-Length", "304578");
response.Flush();
}
This works for Firefox and Chrome but I'm just presented with a blank screen in Internet Explorer. Why?(I've tried setting the "Content-Disposition" header. If I set it to "attachment" I am presented with the download dialog. If I set it to "inline", I just get a blank page like before.
