View 2 RepliesI wants to know, How a web form automatically inherits System.Web.UI.Page when creating a new webform.
View 2 RepliesI want to have 4 links in the sidebar of master page which every other form (content page) in my web application inherits.
<table>
<tr>
<td width= "150px">
<asp:ContentPlaceHolder ID="ContentPlaceHolder1" runat="server">
<asp:Menu runat="server" ID="MainMenu1" CssClass="MasterContent" StaticSubMenuIndent="30px">
<Items>
<asp:MenuItem Text="My Software" NavigateUrl="~/MySoftware.aspx"></asp:MenuItem>
<asp:MenuItem Text="Check Out" NavigateUrl="~/CheckOut.aspx"></asp:MenuItem>
<asp:MenuItem Text="View Shopping Cart" NavigateUrl="~/ShoppingCart.aspx"></asp:MenuItem>
<asp:MenuItem Text="Continue Shopping" NavigateUrl="~/Start.aspx"></asp:MenuItem>
</Items>
</asp:Menu>
</asp:ContentPlaceHolder>
</td>
<td width="900px">
<asp:ContentPlaceHolder ID="ContentPlaceHolder2" runat="server">
</asp:ContentPlaceHolder>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
This is the content in the master page as you can see there are 4 menu items i tried to form as sidebar and i tried to inherit in home.aspx(one of the content pages) as follows:
<%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="Start.aspx.cs" Inherits="WebStore._Start"
MasterPageFile="~/Webstore.Master" %>
<asp:Content ID="StartSideBar" runat="server" ContentPlaceHolderID="ContentPlaceHolder1">
But unfortunately the sidebar is not at all getting displayed. I know i'm doing fundamentally wrong some where. My intention is to have web pages to have sidebar like this. It is a screenshot of my intended page.
OK, so I'm trying to create a template item from a web form.
I have referenced this article: [URL] and it exports the template and installs it fine.
When you try and use the template item within a project though it leaves the inherits="_Default" in the page directive like shown below:
<%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="FormTemplateDev.aspx.cs" Inherits="_Default" %>
So it thinks all the new template items use the original form name pre-template generation. This is an issue in the code behind too as shown here:
public partial class _Default : System.Web.UI.Page
I have seen example of passing paramater strings through but havent managed to get anything to compile. I found something like below:
public partial class $safeitemname$ : System.Web.UI.Page
This was the link to the list of available template parameters i found:
Project Template Parameters
I wanted to create a custom class that inherits from System.Exception and adds a few properties and methods specific to the project.
The issue I'm seeing is that a standard try/catch block catches generic Exception class and the compiler thinks that converting that to my custom class is OK. However, at runtime if the actual error is something else like a a System.Net.WebException for instance, then at runtime it will not convert to my custom class. Then my own error catch throws an InvalidCastException.
Obviously the one thing I don't want to happen is to have my error logging methods throw errors on their own...
So, how can I convert ANY exception to something that my custom class can use?
Here's a code example:
Csharp Code:
[code]....
Now, this code builds just fine... VS2008 and VS2010 have no issue with converting an "Exception" to "MyErrorClass", but at runtime it certainly doesn't like converting a "WebException" to "MyErrorClass"...
Recently, I tried to get my Web Service class to inherit from a custom base class that inherits from System.Web.Services.WebMethod instead of the System.Web.Services.WebMethod directly.
However, I've been getting Error 500.
Public Class Service1
Inherits BaseClass
<System.Web.Services.WebMethod()> _
Public Function GetSessionID() As String
GetSessionID = Me.Session.SessionID
End Function
End Class
public class BaseClass
Inherits System.Web.Services.WebService
public property Property1 as string
public property Property2 as string
End Class
i have found the following code in one of the web applications. Is it possible to have an aspx page inherits from two different classes?
<%@ page language="C#" masterpagefile="~/email/EmailMasterPage.master" inherits="email_PassReset, App_Web_klsfx623" stylesheettheme="email" %>
i dont see any class declared for App_Web_klsfx623 in the code behind. dont know what is this?
I need to make a windows application and the requirements is like this: Data is to be entered through one form and those values are to be displayed in a form in different computer.should i use in order to get this done. My main concern is to efficiently transfer the data.

Is it possible to set the Inherits attribute of an ASPX Page directive to a class in an arbitrary assembly?
I need to modify an ASP.NET (1.1) application for which the source code was lost. In a new assembly (foo2.dll) I've created a replacement code-behind class that derives from the original class in the site's code-behind assembly (foo.dll). It seems easy enough to set the Inherits attribute of the Page directive to the new class name, but when I do that the web server gives me Could not load type 'Foo2.checkout2'. I am referencing the new assembly in the <assemblies> section of Web.config.
I don't see anything in the documentation to indicate that this scenario is unsupported, but I'm not certain that it is, either.
Original
<%@ Page Inherits="Foo.checkout" language="c#" Codebehind="checkout.aspx.cs" AutoEventWireup="false" %>
New
<%@ Page Inherits="Foo2.checkout2" CodeFile="checkout2.aspx.cs" CodeFileBaseClass="Foo.checkout" language="c#" Codebehind="checkout.aspx.cs" AutoEventWireup="false" %>

This is how it shall work;
I keep , e-mail - sending time , pair at database , such as
example@hotmail.com , 10.30 PM
example2@yahoo.com , 06.00 AM
What i want is , sending a pdf attachment to these mails everyday when time is 10.30 PM and 06.00 AM . I've a function which creates pdf attachment. I've also a function which sends e-mail.
How can i always check if it's time for sending a mail or not ?
I have an update panel with a number of [asp:AsyncPostBackTrigger...] controls, and everything was working fine. But now, something keeps inserting duplicate AsyncTriggers, and instead of simply being [asp:AsyncPostBackTrigger...] controls they're [System.Web.UI.AsyncPostBackTrigger...] controls, and I get parser errors as a result. So I delete the duplicate triggers, and they get re-inserted within a few minutes, seemingly randomly.
View 1 RepliesI have asp.net application using .net 3.5 running in our domain (intranet). Right i am using only Form authentication to this appliation.
Problem. Is there a way to use Widows and Form authentication both at once. By default it will use the Windows Credentials if the applicatin is running in the domain. If failed it should ask for Form authentication to supply credentials.

I am running into a odd problem with Visual studio 2008.

Why Visual studio 2008 is automatically deleting the cookies on closing of Broswer?

The user Will manually click the button "Look Up IP addresses" in [URL] to have the result.

We have a Page Method on a web page using ASP .Net. We tried to put in a trace statement using both System.Diagnostics and System.Diagnostics.Debug. In Visual Studio 2008, the break point is not even hit for the line, but other break points on other lines are hit.There is no output from either method that we can see.
There is also a Global.asax error catcher that works fine in other cases, but in the Page Method is not being catched.why a Page Method and System.Diagnostics do not play well together?

View 8 RepliesI had a problem with my website caused by using a masterpage built with a previous version of Visual Web Developer. So I created a new masterpage and renamed it to the same as the old one. It works locally but when I upload onto the host site I get the following error message: error ASPNET: Make sure that the class defined in this code file matches the 'inherits' attribute, and that it extends the correct base class (e.g. Page or UserControl).How do I get it to also work on the host site?
View 3 RepliesI have a datapager connected to ListView1, and after 10 records have been added to the ListView any further input of records gets added to the next page, but this now current page is not displayed, so how do I get it to change to the current changed page automatically ?
(with a gridview control you could just use this below:-)
this.GridView1.PageIndex = Int32.MaxValue;
Every time I create a new aspx page and add some new photos and text, after I finish, I have to update page title, Web.sitemap, Sitemap.xml to feed search engines, static sitemap.aspx page, add photos to proper folders, update database to display feeds etc, and I have to remember to upload all new files including links to any new pdfs....This routine eats my time and drives me crazy.
I was wondering if there is such interface, where you need to create only 1 aspx page, for example "Articles" which can populate Texts, photos etc into pre-defined sections, but at the same time it displays with different URL's, so there is a permanent link to it. After you finish it creates a title automatically, based on article title, populates Web.sitemap - does all the dirty work. Similar to how blog engines, Joomla and Drupal work.
when i run my webpage my personal webserver automatically redirects page to iisstart.htm page.my webageis not showing. what could be the problem?
