I am using asp.net C#.
I have one html input field, and 3 image buttons (asp.net controls)
ImageButton 1 = perform delete operation
ImageButton 2 = perform Edit operation
ImageButoon 3 = perform duplicate operation
My problem occurs when the user presses the enter key when the input field is in focus. When he presses the enter key the browser automatically fires by default the next button. In my case it is the delete operation.

how to set default button for a asp:Content.
I tried using the panel , but it is not working.
In one of my content page , i have two divs - div1,div2.
On page load , only the div1 will be visible. On clicking a button inside it the div1 is made to invisible and the second div- div2 is made visible.
At the page load , i want to make the button inside the div1 to be the default one. On its click i want to make the button inside the div2 to be the default one .How can i do that?

This is working:
Code:
cmdSave.Attributes.Add("Onclick", "this.style.visibility = 'hidden';return confirm('Confirm?')")
When i choose the yes option the postback is made. But I would like to disable the button instead of hide it.. but the following does not work...
Code:
cmdSave.Attributes.Add("Onclick", "this.disabled = true;return confirm('Confirm?')")
When i choose the yes option nothing happens...

I have forms with payment in ASP.NET site, when user clicks on asp:Button sometime he submits few times. I want to disable this functionality without harming current ASP.NET site ( by that i mean no fancy jQuery, unless it is very basic and will not interfere with ASP.NET built-in validation)

I have a textbox in one grid-view column where upon entering a particular value and losing focus of the textbox, should post to the server to get the text validated through a server-side method. If the entry is valid, a result set to fill rest of row cells would be returned, else the bgcolor of the textbox needs to be changed to Red.
I tried posting back through the obvious way, i.e. making the textbox's autopostback as true and wiring up a server-side OnTextChanged event handler to validate the entered value.
It is working with this setup, but is also affecting the remaining page controls behaviour. For example, if I click a button in some other grid after entering some text in the textbox, the OnTextChanged handler gets called thus preventing the button's click event, which I also wish to call to execute its functionality.

I have a form that occassionally submits more than once per user. I am assuming the problem is that the user gets impatient and clicks submit multiple times. I have a bunch of asp validation controls on the page. There is multiple validation groups, the submit button belongs to the "main" group. How do I validate the "main" group, then if the page is valid, disable the button and submit it? I tried adding this.disabled=true; but that just disables it and doesnt submit or anything.

i am working on an asp.net mvc 2 web app and i have ran into an issue. I have implemented client side validation using Html.EnableClientValidation() in my View page for providing the site users the ability to submit or cancel some form fields back to the server database. For this i have implemented an Html.BeginForm() along with 2 submit buttons. One with "Ok" and the other with "Cancel" text.
The ok/cancel funcionality is handled server-side from the controller action. The result is that the form fileds are client-validated when the user clicks the cancel button and this is not what he would expect.
how could avoid this issue? Of cource i could remove the submti cancel button from the form and implement it via an Html action link, but i would prefer finding a solution using the first approach.

I have a page with user controls getting dynamically added. Inside some of these user controls there are form elements, either simple <input> tags or complex third party controls (Telerik RadDatePicker for example) (technical details at end).
These controls are currently being identified as part of the same form based on a ValidationGroup string setting. My question is how can I get these form elements to submit on Enter together and raise the right postback event?
I cannot use the DefaultButton panel property because I don't have the id of the submit button available within the controls server-side. I think I might be able to use jquery clientside like this:
<input onKeyPress="javascript:if (event.keyCode == 13) {$(this).change(); $('#submitclientid').click();}" ...>
But I don't know how to do that for the third party controls.
Further technical details: Each form element is in a separate DNN module. Inter-module communication can be used to pass around data server side which results in multiple modules working together as part of a single logical form on a page.

I have a chat application I've developed which sits inside a master page. When the user presses enter inside his/her chat input field, I want that to trigger the submit chat behaviour (same as clicking the 'submit' button under the chat input field), but because there is another submit button inside the master page and higher up the page (a search function), that is what gets triggered. So if the user hits enter, s/he gets sent off to the search page.

Is it possible to control the behaviour of ASP.NET when the Session has expired? It seems that the default behaviour is sending the user to the website root. The desired effect would be to send the user to a custom "Session Expired" page.To clarify, it's the SessionState that's expiring (set the timeout to 1 minute to quickly test it):
<sessionState mode="InProc" timeout="1"></sessionState>
The authentication cookie timeout is way higher, to avoid any mix-up:
<authentication mode="Forms">
<forms loginUrl="SessionExpired.aspx" slidingExpiration="true" name=".ttpASPXAUTH" timeout="58" protection="All"></forms>
</authentication>

I need to retrieve page source just before submit. Imagine, there are web controls, textboxes, checkboxes etc and a submit form. When the user clicks submit button, I need to read page content, html output (with the changes like filled textboxes and checkbox states etc) and do some work on it. How do I do that and of course, in which event, it is easy to read html content?

else

I have a Master Page for all my ASP.NET pages. It works fine for 95% of pages... Except that it also includes unwanted attributes that are included in the other 5% of pages. This causes application problems. Is it possible for Content Pages to somehow select to enable/disable a feature available in the master page? One option I can think of is for the Master Page to look at the page name and then decide what to do, but that's a bit clunky in the long run.

I have the following placeholder in my main master page. I would like to not have to duplicate my news content in several content pages, so I choose to simply not provide this content in them, and the master page should provide its default.
<asp:ContentPlaceHolder ID="SideBarContent" runat="server">
<asp:GridView ID="newsGrid" runat="server" AutoGenerateColumns="false" Width="100%">
<Columns>
<asp:TemplateField>
<ItemTemplate>
</ItemTemplate>
</asp:TemplateField>
</Columns>
</asp:GridView>
</asp:ContentPlaceHolder>
When I try the following code, I get an error because newsGrid is null. I assume I'm doing this at the wrong place in the page lifecycle, but I don't know where the right place is.
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
Page.Header.DataBind();
if (!IsPostBack)
{
newsGrid.DataSource = _newsService.ListActive();
newsGrid.DataBind();
}
}
