How do I call a client script function from a server side button click(with submit behaviour set to false) .
[code]....
I want to disable default submit behaviour of Ente button in my category.aspx page
[Code]....
and my page contains mayny no of textboxes
i wan to implement this javascript at one time at form tag but my page is inside master page
I have a chat application I've developed which sits inside a master page. When the user presses enter inside his/her chat input field, I want that to trigger the submit chat behaviour (same as clicking the 'submit' button under the chat input field), but because there is another submit button inside the master page and higher up the page (a search function), that is what gets triggered. So if the user hits enter, s/he gets sent off to the search page.

How to call this code:
[Code]....
In the view I have a HTML button:
<input type="submit" value="Submit" />
Also I have a dropdownlist, how do I call the controller's action after I click the "Submit" button?
And how do I pass the Model back to the controller action as well?
The reason I want to pass back the model (or other object/class) to controller's action is I might have 5 dropdown lists and 3 edit boxes values to be sent as parameters. So I would like to assign these parameters into a object and send it back to controller's action.
Is there a simple way to turn off form submit behaviour of the page when ENTER is pressed while I am focused to textbox? What I want to achieve is to call a web-service without submiting the page when ENTER is pressed in a specific textbox in my aspx page?
View 1 RepliesWith the following submit, client side validation works perfectly: <input
type="Submit"
value="Create"
/>
<input
type="button"
value="Create"
onclick="javascript:saveAddress(0);"
/>
<script type="text/javascript" language="javascript">
function saveAddress(id) {
var form = document.forms[0];
form.action = '/AddressType/Create';
form.submit();
}
</script>
For the release of Microsoft MVC 2.0 RC2, can someone go into further detail on the following BUG/FIX: You can now programmatically disable client validation for a submit button (an input elements whose type attribute is set to "submit") even if the button does not have its name attribute set, whereas before it required the name attribute.Does this apply to the HTML Helper Submit Button or the input submit button? How would I disable client validation for a submit button? I tried using the htmlAttribute causesvalidation="false" on a HTML Helper Submit button and it did not work.
View 11 RepliesI have a button on an ASP.NET page, and that button is (and needs to be) created via Javascript. The problem is, there are some validators on the page, and pressing the button is causing them to fire, and I don't want that to happen in this particular case. I am not sure what CausesValidation=false actually does on the page, but I was hoping to re-create it somehow.
I have been trying to locate the button by using a FindControl() statement in code-behind, but that doesn't seem to be working. If it did, I could just set the CausesValidation there...

How to call javascript method in client template (http://github.com/jquery/jquery-tmpl)
ASP.NET 3.5 SP 1 Following code in ASPX:
<asp:Button
ID="calcShipping"
UseSubmitBehavior="false"
Text="Calc Shipping Costs"
OnClick="calcShipping_Click"
runat="server"
/>
<asp:Button
ID="submit"
runat="server"
Text="Submit Query"
/>
Renders like this in HTML (I find this to be correct):
<input
type="button"
name="calcShipping"
value="Calc Shipping Costs"
onclick="javascript:__doPostBack('calcShipping','')"
id="calcShipping"
/>
<input
type="submit"
name="submit"
value="Submit Query"
id="submit"
/>...........................
[URL]
I'm using the code the above and running into an error i can't quite figure out. Maybe its something simple or maybe it's something that can't be done. Not sure.
I created a user control (button) that references a javascript file like this:
string url = ResolveClientUrl("./Scripts/main.js");
function SubmitButton_Click(e) {
try {
var src = typeof (event) != 'undefined' ? event.srcElement : e.target;
[Code]....
The error that i am running into is this:
The buttons in the update panel work everytime without any problems. When i click a button in the update panel and then click a button outside the update panel it chockes on this line of the above javascript.
src.aspnet_onclick();
The value of aspnet_click() is 'SubmitButton_Click(e)'. This is incorrect which causes it to choke.
The value should be 'onclick(event)'
For some reason when click the button inside the update panel and then the button outside the update panel causes this javascript error but I am not sure why the aspnet_onclick() is incorrect.
I have an asp.net application with basic CRUD functionality. On a page where i am capturing customer details i have several asp.net validators to required fields. I have attached a JS confirm box on the asp.net save button for the form. The trouble is that when the user leaves required fields unfilled and clicks the save button, the JS confirm box comes up, when the ok button is clicked, the save method is called successfully and only after this happened do the asp.net validators fire and display that required information has been left out.
View 2 RepliesI have a page with multiple textboxes and each has a button associated with it. This works as a search 'hub', I suppose, where the user can search by ID, name etc. When entering a search term for e.g. name however, pressing enter 'clicks' the very first button on the page (ID search), causing an error if the associated textbox is empty (which it would be if someone meant to search by name). I have attempted to rectify this using JQuery, and have written the following:
$('input:text').click(function (e) {
e.preventDefault();
$(this).next('input:button').focus();
});
I'm simply using the click event so that I can monitor where focus is redirected, but eventually I would use .keypress. However, nothing happens upon clicking a textbox and I can't see for the life of me what is wrong with the JQuery. To elaborate on the problem, the .NET code used looks similar to the following throughout the page.
<tr>
<td style="width:100">Company ID</td>
<td style="margin-left:3px;">
<asp:TextBox ID="...TextBox" runat="server" Width="230px"></asp:TextBox>
</td>
<td>
<asp:Button CssClass="Button" ID="...NameSearch" Text="Search" runat="server" /></td></tr>
This is generating this (view source):
<td><input name="...TextBox" id="...TextBox" style="width: 230px;" type="text"/></td>
<td><input name="...NameSearch" class="Button" id="...NameSearch" onclick="javascript:__doPostBack('...NameSearch','')" type="button" value="Search"/></td>
The following code is being used to disable a Submit button once it has been clicked. This works great on desktop browsers and most BlackBerry mobile browsers.
Submit.Attributes.Add("onclick", "javascript:this.disabled=true;" +
ClientScript.GetPostBackEventReference(Submit, null));
when using a BlackBerry Storm clicking the submit button causes the device to just reload the page. If I remove this code the Storm browser submits the page just fine. I need to disable the button when the browser is capable of doing so but do not want to affect browsers that are not JavaScript capable.
I have a javascript to enable text boxes when called, I want to trigger this code when a user picks value "Custom" from a dropdownlist, so that I can display/Hide these new textboxes.
function setVisibility(DropDownListID) {
var element = document.getElementById(DropDownListID);
var element1 = document.getElementById("TestBox1");
if (element.value == "Custom") {
element1.visible = !element1.visible ;
}
<asp:DropDownList ID="DateRangeDropDownList" runat="server" Enabled="True" onChange="setVisibility('DateRangeDropDownList');">
<asp:ListItem>Some Value</asp:ListItem>
<asp:ListItem>Custom</asp:ListItem>
</asp:DropDownList>
<asp:TextBox ID="TestBox1" runat="server"></asp:TextBox>
For some reason it doesn't seem to work.
I have an issue in my application . When I am calling a Javascript function OnClick of Submit button, the range validators on my page doesnt work.
View 2 Repliesam having trouble with some javascript that isn't working as it should. I have a table with 6 rows in it. There are 3 rows with a checkbox in them and 3 rows with a dropdownlist. The order is cb ,ddl, cb, ddl, cb ,ddl. The ddl rows are all hidden in th beginning using style="display: none;". When the user checks a checkbox, the ddl row below should appear. But this is not happening, instead it happens when i uncheck it.

I am trying to run a routine that (when a button is clicked) changes an asp:label's text to "Please Wait..." using Javascript, and then goes away and runs a c# function that changes the asp:label's text to "Finished" when it is complete.I can get the Javascript to work:
<asp:Button ID="Button1" runat="server" Text="Upload"
onclientclick="document.getElementById('errorMessage').innerText='Please Wait...';" />
And I can run the c# bit fine too:
<asp:Button ID="Button1" runat="server" Text="Button" onclick="Button1_Click" />
But I can't figure out how to make them run together. (i.e. Javascript first, and then c#.

ClientScript.RegisterStartupScript(this.GetType(), "MyScript", "function_me( "" + Strname + "");", true);
