View 2 Repliesi'm just getting started with asp.net and ajax. My question is : is it possible to make an ajax request and simulate the server response in the code behind. in other words can the request be sent to the code behind of the same page? if it's possible haw can i perform this ?
View 2 RepliesI have created a web service that interacts with my DAL. It has the usual kind of methods, create, retrieve, update and delete. I have published this web service to our live Windows Server and I can see the web serice URL. The web service works on a few method calls but does not work specifically for one object. I am getting the following error: Fault Exception was unhandled by user code. "Server was unable to process request. ---> Data is Null. This method or property cannot be called on Null values."
To summarise: Web service is live, I can see it in my browser. Some method calls work. One specific one does not. I have verified that the method works (it is just calling a SQL stored proc that does return data).
When i try to execute the code below i get the error "unable to connect to remote server".
The internet connection is set and if i copy and paste the serviceurl directly on the browser it works.
public string GeoCode(string address)
{
if (String.IsNullOrEmpty(address)) throw new ArgumentNullException("address");
string ServiceUrl = "http://maps.google.com/maps/geo?output=xml&q={0}&key={1}&oe=utf8";
string url = String.Format(ServiceUrl, HttpUtility.UrlEncode(address), MyApiKey);
System.Net.HttpWebRequest request = (System.Net.HttpWebRequest)System.Net.WebRequest.Create(url);
request.Method = "GET";
using (System.Net.WebResponse response = request.GetResponse())
{
return response.ToString();
}
}
I have installed/compiled mono, xsp and mod_mono. But how do I configure apache to use it? I tried including the mod_mono.conf file and apache does see the module and loads it but when I visit an asp page I getService Temporarily UnavailableThe server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems.
View 2 Repliesi have a web application which which proccesses some request on some data that client selects, when the client selects more than 20 objects and clicks on proceed the client recieves this error, because the server takes a long time to process, however if the records are less and hence a timely response is recieved, no such error comes?

I am facing an issue while calling a web request thru my code. I have searched a lot on number of sites but did not get any solution.
Here is the code which I am using:

<asp:Repeater ID="rptrParent" runat="server">
<ItemTemplate>

<a href="<% =ResolveUrl("~/cPanel/UserView.aspx?User=")%><%# Eval("StudentUserName") %>">

I have to use inline code for an aspx page and I need to use a custom server control that is defined in the same aspx page but the control does not get processed as a server control. it gets returned as is as static html tag.

I am not sure how I will be calling this from code-behind and in their snippet it says:

I have my own SQL based session class. I want to automatically commit the data in the session at the end of program execution (i.e. at the end of serving the page request). Do object destructors (finalizers) not get executed at the end of every request? Is there anyway of doing this instead of having to explicitly call a Dispose() method every time I am done with my session object?
View 4 RepliesI was wondering if there was anyway to populate the page with asp.net code like "<asp:Repeater ID="rptProducts" runat="server">MORE_CODE</asp:Repeater>" and then have the server use that code on the page. I'm not sure if i'm making sense. Like writing the asp.net front end code to the page dynamically before the .net engine generates the output html.
View 3 RepliesI was wondering if there is any way to always run some server side code when a user leaves a page in ASP.NET. The page Unload event is no good because that doesn't get called if someone clicks on a link. Ideally I'd also like the code to run even if the user closes the browser.
View 4 RepliesI need to do stuff after my page is rendered in the browser. In detail, i need to send email/sms and other non-browser related stuff, but the operation takes time, and i dont want my visitors waiting 5-8s for the success message.I have tried putting the "After Rendering Code" in the page Unload event. That seems to work - but only on localhost. It does not work on our production server.So i figgured, maybe this is some IIS setting? I've also read that it's up to the browser, if it will show th epage after rendering is complete - or wait for the whole package to end.So i tried to end the package with Response.end before my "A-R-C", but that just killed it.
View 3 RepliesI am working on a page where we have a form that the user is filling some information in. When the form is submitted I want to process the information and then redirect to an external server. The catch is that I need post data to go to the external server so a redirect will not work.
Is there a way to programmatically submit a form request with post data?
For the sake of a ridiculous example let's say on http://A.com I have an asp.net page with two inputs that accept numbers and a submit button. When the button is clicked I want to send a post to http://B.com with a post data parameter "AdditionTotal" which contains the sum of the two numbers entered.
Im dynamically generating an HTML Select Box, lets call it myselect. Im creating this select box based on some database values Im generating an HTML Select Box.. almost like a string that Im just spitting out to the page. So it's never a control in the codebehind, just part of a string thats rendered as HTML by the browser. If I submit my form, and in my codebehind I perform:
Dim myVal as String = Request.Form("myselect")
That code will give me the VALUE of the myselect select box. How can I refer to this control to cast it as a System.Web.UI.HtmlControls.HtmlSelect control? Request.Form seems to give me the value, but I want to reference the object itself..
<asp:Content ID="Content2" ContentPlaceHolderID="ContentPlaceHolder1" Runat="Server">
<h3>Request ID:<%=Request["request_id"]%></h3>
</asp:Content>
The Code above is not working. How do I display the request id without touching the code behind file?
I hav button on a page. click on it and it works on local system. when i deploy on server. code seems not working. I receive a 'request failed' and truest level error. method even contains 1 simple stmt of 'exit sub'. it's not happening on other pages.
View 3 RepliesI am wondering if there is anyway to grab the html that is generated from an ASP page.I am trying to pull a table from the page,and I foolishly used a static html page so I would not have to be constantly querying the server where this page resides while I tested out my code.The javascript code I wrote to grab to unlabeled table from the page works.Then when I put it into practice with the real page and found that the ASP page does not generate a viewable page with a jquery .get request on the URL.
Is there any way to query the page for the table I need so that the ASP page returns a valid page on request?(I am also limited to using javascript and perl for this,the server where this will reside will not run php and I have no desire to learn ASP.NET to solve this by adding to the issue of proprietary software)
The scenario is this. I have a long page that has a scroll bar. I'm us an Ajax ModalPopupExtender and that too is very long and has a scroll bar.
The problem I'm seeing is that in IE when a user scrolls the modal popup window, when it reaches the bottom it also scrolls to main window which has a really ugly user experience.
So what I want to do is, through server side code, I want to dynamically change the body css overflow from auto to hidden and I can't seem to find a way to make that happen. I've tried a number of approaches and none of them seem to work.
<body style="overflow:hidden;">
I have created an aspx file using in Visual Studio. I did this by doing NEW | Website | ASP.net Website and designing it. How do I create the C# code to handle the click events
View 3 RepliesI am using Ajax's EnablePageMethods way to call server side code using javascript. The problem is that in IE8 the page automatically refreshes after the ajax call has been completed i.e. the server side function has been executed successfully. I want the same to happen with Chrome and Firefox but it doesnt refresh the page once the server side function has been executed.
I am using this way to call server side code from Javascript -- [URL]
this is the javascript function:
[code]...
this is where i am calling the javascript event:
<a href='myPageName.aspx' onclick='javascript:editNode(1);return false;'>Delete</a>
I'm building an application that creates bar code images based on the number of selected rows in a GridView. It counts out 6 bar codes and the corresponding labels, and then it needs to force a page break when my counter hits "6".
How do you force a page break from your server side (VB page-behind) code in ASP.NET?
Can you change the pagestyle from the code-behind? I wanted to try : "pagestyle = "page-break-before:always" - but it was not an option in the intelisense menu...
I have a drop down in an ASP.NET page. Whenever the value of the drop down changes an ASP.NET AJAX request is made to the server. I also attached a jQuery "change" event handler to that list to execute some code when the value is changed. So, probably two different event handlers are being attached to the same drop down, and it's causing some problems, i.e., sometimes wrong drop down values are sent to the server. I don't know why is this happening but I think attaching two different event handlers to a same drop down may be the reason.
Can anyone tell me what is the problem here? If what I guessed is true, then is there any other way to execute some custom javascript code before asp.net AJAX request is sent ?
Follwing code that i have tried doesn't display any thing.
