How To Bind The Results Of Web Service To A ListView

Jul 12, 2010

I'm new to ASP.NET so I apologize if this is a basic question.

I have a Web application. This web application has a ListView on it. From this web app I make calls to a web service which returns data from a database. I return the data from the web service using the following format:

[code]...

Now I would like from the Web Application to show the data on a listview. Is there a way of doing this by using the Data Source property of the Listview or the only way is to populate the listview manually?

Forms Data Controls :: Displaying Search Results In Listview?

Feb 3, 2010

I have a set of controls that enable the user to search one of two fields in a given SQL Server table. The ddlSearch dropdownlist specifies the field to search. The txtSearch textbox contains the search string. I have the following code working fine, except search string isn't being passed to my listview:

[Code]....

I tried adding a DataBind after End Using, but the listview still won't provide the search results. Note that I also have an EntityDataSource on page.

Am I adding this to the wrong event? Should this code be added to PageLoad instead of click event of Submit button? What other issues should I address? Is it possible for ListView to handle the search by itself? That is, do I even need other dropdownlist and textbox controls, or is there functionality builit into the listview control to search? Finally, can I enable a checkbox for each returned item? I will need this so that the user can select items to add to their order.

I'm using Visual Studio 2010 with .net Framework 3.5. I have a couple of textboxes: First Name, Last Name. As the user begins entering values in those textboxes I'd like the Listview to display the results querying from a database and filter those results as more letters are typed in.

C# - Web Service Returning Ajaxified Results?

Sep 19, 2010

I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction here. I am trying to create web service that will return ajaxified results. Specifically, I want to write a web service that will fetch email through a secure connection. However, rather then have the web service return every single email, I just want to fetch maybe 5 emails at a time. I've always used Ajax as a client helper technology and not sure how to go about implementing this on a server side, or if its even possible.

I am using ASP.NET/C#, by the way.

C# - Bind The Datasource Of A Nested ListView To The Parent's ListView Datasource?

Dec 13, 2010

I have triple-nested ListView controls on my asp.net page, each nested within another. I use the OnItemDataBound event in the 1st ListView to set the DataSource of the 2nd level ListView. The 3rd ListView is contained in the of the 2nd ListView. I want to assign the same DataSource to both the 2nd and 3rd level ListView datasource controls, but I cannot figure out how to access the 3rd level ListView in order to do that.

[Code]....

The level1_ItemDataBound method finds the level2 control, casts it as a ListView, sets its DataSource and executes the DataBind. At this point I'm stuck trying to get Level3.DataSource to be set to the same as Level2.DataSource.

Linq - How To Bind To A Control Within A ListView

Dec 5, 2010

I have a list that I need to bind to a List I get from an API. The list looks like this:

struct DataItem { int level; string name; Guid key };
List<DataItem> myList = API.GetList();
ListView1.DataSource = myList;
ListView1.DataBind();

All this works fine for display. However, the table must edit the level value. I am unsure how to make that happen. I have tried event handlers on the listView, but they are never called. I have tried a text box for the level field (with both Bind and Eval) and an event handler OnTextChanged, but the event handler is never called. (I have tried with various combiniations of AutoPostBack and ViewState enabled.)

How can I programatically edit this data structure?

Forms Data Controls :: Bind GetAllUsers To ListView With ItemDataBound

Sep 13, 2010

I am using a listview to which I want to bind the MembershipUserCollection which you get from GetAllUsers(). I don't want to use reflection, I want to assign it in the ItemDataBound event of my listview. I've done this before, but with datatables. The code will be something like DataRow dr = (e.item.DataItem as DataRowView).Row. You can then access specific columns with

dr["ColumnNamehere"].ToString().

But how do you do this with MembershipUserCollection?

Forms Data Controls :: Bind ListView DataSourceID To ObjectDataSource With Button_Click

Jan 12, 2011

I successfully bind ListView DataSourceID to ObjectDataSource but it binds only initially on Page_Load event.
When I want to bind another data through a Button_Click event, the new data doesn't bind.

aspx code:

[Code]....

Codebehind:

[Code]....

On Page_Load, I get result:

A1
<hr />
T1
A2
<hr />
T2
A3
<hr />
T3

When I Button1_Click, nothing happens, no error, no any more results and _airLineData is 53 records, not 3 records (A1T1 to A3T3) I want the binding to be with DataSourceID to ObjectDataSource (not through DataSource property and control.DataBind() method)
