View 2 RepliesI'm a student doing final year of my Computer Science and Engineering. For my final year project i've choosen to do an online word processor such as google docs,zoho etc.I want to implement this project in .net. This will be a ajax oriented project and i'm well prepared with the web related part of it with ASP.net and C#.net at the server end and HTML,Javascript at the front end. But the point where i'm struck up is:
-> How can i create, edit and add MS Word features to a .doc file using VB.net or C#.net??
-> .net Library classes that will be helpful for me to create word related components as .doc files i.e how to create word using .net?
-> How can i convert a .doc file to HTML file to display it on a web browser?
-> In brief tell me how to create a word processor so that i'll be able to create it online.
I was searching server software to build a Multiplayer Online Game. All of the servers I found up to now use Java in the server side (ie smartfoxserver)
Today I found this one, Photon, that seems interesting because it uses .NET, you can see it here:

I need to build a page to test online video speed.
video will be uploaded in my webserver and there is no flash play in the server. I need to have two players. one is window media player, second is a flashplayer (prefer using google player)
Page layout:
Windows media player
report of speed testing
Flash player
report of speed testing
report requirement
1.length of video
2. total time that spend to load this video (dynamic is better)
3. average download and upload speed during playing the video
I want to make project which is MP3 downloading website..
Some website example about it i know basic of asp.net and also know layer architecture..
I'm using resx files to localize my asp.net 2.0 application. As it's freeware I need the help of many users translating it for free. I don't want to use automatic translation as there are my special terms which need to be translated exactly.Is there somewhere an online tool where resx-files could be translated? My users might have different operating systems, so having an online tool would be the best to find new users translating the pages.
View 8 RepliesHow to make a build in VS 2010 within an ASP.NET MVC application that would remove all of the source code (CS and VB) files? When I build a website or web app I usually copy the contents of the entire solution to the hosting server. Mostly clients get the source but sometimes I do not want to expose the source to the hosting server thus only the Public (or Content) folder, views, masters and the built DLL should be copied.
Manual solutions are not applicable. What do you guys use?
I've got a solution that contains several projects. There is a main exe project which I'll call MyProj.exe that references several other projects which reference yet other projects in the solution. Additionally a few projects in the solution are not in MyProj's reference chain and aren't regularly built. There is 1 project (a class library project) named Payment which is giving me a particularly hard time. The two of MyProj's references have a project reference to Payment.dll. So the reference heirarchy looks like this:
- MyProj.exe
- Transactions
- Payment
- Accounts
- Payment
When I right click MyProj in the Solution Explorer and choose Build, everything works fine, but when I choose Rebuild, I get the following results:
Payment.dll is deleted but never rebuilt. It doesn't exist in the output directory MyProj.manifest in the output directory doesn't have a reference to Payment.dll. (What is this file? I don't remember normally seeing it in other project's the output directories.) 19 of the project .pdb files are deleted and not rebuilt This is a big problem for me because this is a ClickOnce application and when I'm publishing, Payment.dll isn't getting included in my deployment which is a problem I suspect is closely related.
I want to show my online pdf document to client (like e-paper PDF document display.)

Create a control 'ClassName' in file ClassName.cs. Path is c:ProjectWebuserControlsControlTypeClassName.cs

The really bizarre thing is that the error is inconsistent.Sometimes the project builds, sometimes some files break the build, sometimes others do, sometimes all of them do.
I'd like to add build configuration dependant web config files to my empty ASP.NET 4 Web site project. How can I do that? According to this blog entry, VS 2010 is supposed to provide a context menu entry on the original web.config file, Add Config Transform, allowing to add build configuration dependant web.config files to the project. But this context menu entry doesn't exist. What did I do wrong?
Steps to reproduce:
Create an empty ASP.NET 4 Web site project on localhost (IIS)
downloading files from an FTP server. The FTP server produces new files from time to time. so my application needs to Download only the "NEW" files and disregard what i have already downloaded previously. I have a time stamp on when was the last download time. I Using FtpWebRequest, WebRequestMethods.Ftp.ListDirectory, WebRequestMethods.Ftp.GetDateTimestamp. The problem is the ListDirectory gives me all the List in the FTP directory and i have to loop all the way down starting again from the start to the last file and check it with my last time stamp to DL the NEW files another problem is the FTP Directory contains 30,000 Files so it would take long until ill find the my last download time to start again on that point..

View 5 RepliesI have a web application that has some non-web projects as well. When using Web Deployment, a single assembly is generated for all the aspx.vb files. When using Team Build (TS 2008), a lot number App_Web_xxx.dll file(s) are generated instead of a single assembly. How can i solve this problem and change the TFSBuild.proj file so that it can generate a single Web Assembly instead of a lot number of assemblies.
I guess thats because the MERGE operation is not occurring like it used to happen for Web Deployment Project in my solution. How can i enable MERGE of App_web_*.dll files into a single Web.dll assembly file and delete the satellite assemblies? Here is my code from TFSBuild.proj file: (MY web project is in Release|.NET Config and all other projects within the solution are in Release|Any CPU)
<Target Name="AfterBuild">
<PropertyGroup Condition=" '$(Configuration)|$(Platform)' == 'Debug|.NET' ">
<DebugSymbols>true</DebugSymbols>
<OutputPath>.Debug</OutputPath>

I am currently attempting to use Visual Studio 2010 'Publish' and MSDeploy functionality to handle my web deployment needs but have run into a roadblock with regards to customizing the package depending on my build configuration.
I develop in a 32bit environment but need to create a release package for a 64bit environment, so in the 'Release' configuration I have a post build event that copies the 64bit version of a third-party dll into the bin directory overwriting the 32bit version. When I use the 'Publish' functionality, even though the correct 64bit dll is being copied to the bin directory, it doesn't get included in the package.
Is there a way to get the 'Publish' to include files that have been copied into the bin directory during a post build event?
I am developing a application similar to a forum. I want to attach documents in .doc and .PDF formats. I want to know how could i download these attachments and open directly in a browser without saving the downloaded document.

Is there any browser setting to show open/save dialog box .
I'm working on a website that streams audio files for the user from a directory on the server machine. How do I protect the audio files from users being able to navigate to the folder and just downloading them locally, but still provide them access to stream them? If I set permissions on the folder via IIS, is there a level that I can set so that the server can stream but not allow anonymous access?I'm sure there is a tutorial or other thread about this out there, it's just hard to search for this specific issue. Any help or a simple link to another thread/tutorial
View 3 RepliesI developed a datagrid in my aspx page which was to show all the files present (with details) in a particular directory on my webserver. The column containing the name of the file in the datagrid is a hyperlink and when you click on it you could view or download the file.
Everything works great. When I click on the file name, it either opens up the file in browser or asks me to save it except the fact that when I click on a file name with extension .msg (outlook message file) it says - The Page Cannot be found
The page you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable..
The files are very well present there in the directory! Moreover, same everything was working absolutely fine (even the .msg messages) in my local system during the application development.
I dont know if sending the code makes sense in this situation - because code is correct and is working as it should be. It looks more of an issue with internet explorer or probably somerthing with Production web server configuration.
Anyways the code for aspx and .cs files are -
ASPX - PAGE CODE
<asp:DataGrid runat="server" id="articleList" Font-Name="Verdana"
am able to download single files which is coming as bytes from database..how to go with multiple files....
View 4 Repliesin my project i have a folder containing N number of files. I need a functionality that the page should have links for all those files so that client can download those files.
For this i have dynamically created Link Buttons and linked each file with each link Button.
The Code is as
string filePath = Request.PhysicalPath.Substring(0, Request.PhysicalPath.LastIndexOf("\"));
filePath = filePath.Substring(0, filePath.LastIndexOf("\"));
filePath = filePath.Substring(0, filePath.LastIndexOf("\")) + "\Export";
string[] files = System.IO.Directory.GetFiles(filePath);
[Code]...
But the problem is that, when i am trying to download this:
the file is downloading in HTML format, moreover the file name of downloaded file becomes same to my Code file name where as i want the actual name. the downloaded file have the actual data but it also contains the html code to the page on which this links are coming
I need a program that would download all csv files from an sftp location. I've the sftp host IP, user name, password and port details of the sftp location. I am able to login through Filezilla. But as I need to login programmatically, so that I can get a list of all files in the folder.
When the code works fine for a ftp request, it doesn't for an sftp request. Given below is my code to connect to the ftp uri.

My system admin says that there is no uri that could be given for sftp sites at all. Now, how can I go about this? Is there any third party tool available for this?
I want to make a website that has many files and the user can use it to download the files. Also, the admin can upload any file. How I can save the files so the file will be exist when the user download it and where I can put the file when the admin upload it?
