How To Change Session For Only One Route In Mvc

May 24, 2010

How to handle Application_BeginRequest using a custom filter in asp.net mvc?

I want to restore session only for one route (~/my-url).

It would be cool, if I could create a custom filter and handle that.

protected void Application_BeginRequest(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
var context = HttpContext.Current;
if (string.Equals("~/my-url",
context.Request.AppRelativeCurrentExecutionFilePath,
StringComparison.OrdinalIgnoreCase))
{
string sessionId = context.Request.Form["sessionId"];
if (sessionId != null)
{
HttpCookie cookie = context.Request.Cookies.Get("ASP.NET_SessionId");
if (cookie == null)
{
cookie = new HttpCookie("ASP.NET_SessionId");
}
cookie.Value = sessionId;
context.Request.Cookies.Set(cookie);
}
}

Web Forms :: Session - URL Routing To Route User To His Profile Page

Jan 12, 2011

I am using URL Routing to route user to his profile page, which is a child page. Now the problem is that all the images, javascripts references are distorted when i user the url to reach that page whether logged in or not logged in (both the cases). But after reaching this page when i login from this page thru my modal popup login control, all the references seem to work fine. It is to be noted that i am still in that same page which i reached after url routing. So upon logging from here the whole page works and displays fine.

How come the references are automatically adjusted when i am logging in from this page and are not referenced when i log in from other page and route here or when i am logged out?

Global.asax code:

void Application_Start(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
RegisterRoutes(RouteTable.Routes);
}
public static void RegisterRoutes(RouteCollection routes)
{
routes.Add("UseridRoute", new Route
(
"profile/{user}",
new CustomRouteHandler("~/UserProfile.aspx")
));
}

MVC :: Webforms Route / Implementing Route In Global.asax

Mar 13, 2011

I tried to mix asp.net 4 webfrom and ASp.Net MVC 3. I add required lines in webconfig, but I've issues implementing route in global.asax

Currently I use several routes for webfroms. routs template are like below

routes.MapPageRoute("Node", _
"article/sport/{nID}/", _
"~/article/articleview.aspx")

I encounter error, when I add below lines to global.asax

routes.MapRoute( _
"Defaultss", _
"{controller}/{action}/{id}", _
New With {.controller = "Home", .action = "Index", .id = UrlParameter.Optional} _
)

I want to know how could I mix ASp.Net MVC routes with webforms routes.

Route Constraints And Empty Route?

Sep 24, 2010

I have a url that I want to map routing to:

[URL]

where tabvalue is one of: "personal", "professional", "values" or nothing.

I want to map it to a route like:

Member/Edit/{tab}

But my problem is - I don't know how to specify such constraints. I'm trying this regex:

^[personal|professional|values]{0,1}$

but it only works when I use url

[URL]

[URL]

and doesn't work for

[URL]

how to specify the correct constraint?

P.S. I'm not using MVC, just asp.net WebForms

C# - MVC 3 Custom Route Handler - Skip To Next Custom Route Rule?

Mar 14, 2011

Was looking at asp.net mvc complex routing for tree path as an example of how to define a custom route handler for my MVC app. Essentially, I want to give the end user ultimate flexibility in defining the URL for any given page, so I provide them with a field in the interface to specify their own custom URL.

My custom route handler is basically a wild-card handler. It will do a lookup and if it finds a match, map it accordingly. However, if no match is found, I want it to fall back and find the next rule that matches in the global.asax. Is that possible? Or do I essentially need to code the mappings that used to exist in my global.asax into my custom route handler?

Change Session Mode To State Server

Mar 23, 2010

My website session was expired within seconds. I tried every possible solution but problem was same. Now i changed my session mode to stateserver, but when i logout from website its giving error. Unable to serialize the session state. In 'StateServer' and 'SQLServer' mode, ASP.NET will serialize the session state objects, and as a result non-serializable objects or MarshalByRef objects are not permitted. The same restriction applies if similar serialization is done by the custom session state store in 'Custom' mode. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.Web.HttpException: Unable to serialize the session state. In 'StateServer' and 'SQLServer' mode, ASP.NET will serialize the session state objects, and as a result non-serializable objects or MarshalByRef objects are not permitted. The same restriction applies if similar serialization is done by the custom session state store in 'Custom' mode. I have mention [Serializable] on class. And some of hyper links also not working after changing the mode to stateserver.

AJAX :: Session Variables Disappear On TabPanel Change?

Jan 19, 2011

As described above my session variables seem to be disappearing when i change the ActiveTabIndex of my TabContainer.

I call the session variable twice. The first time populates a div in "divResults", and then i switch to that tab, its only after the switch when i try to return the session variable again that its gone.

Is this really the case? I have seen it eluded to somewhere, and there was meant to be a fix coming out (this was 2006 or something).

Is there anything i can do here? I cant find any other reason why they would be disappearing other than this!

Configuration :: Session Expired Very Fast / Avoid Change Database From MS Access To SQL?

Aug 9, 2010

I am currently using the brinkster hosting (Pro Package) but recently they change my hosting to the new one and after that I got an error for sometimes and my session also expired very fast. Below is the feedback from Brinkster.

Thank you for letting us know about your recent experience with your application. From what we are able to find regarding your application problems, they appear to be related to your ms access database. Due to limitations of ms access, you may want to consider updating the database running your website to mysql. A Mysql database is available to your account at no additional charge.

MS access begins to experience issues like database locks (which is what appears to be happening to your application) when there are more than 3 or 4 concurrent connections to the database for reads. MS access is also only able to have one write connection open at any given moment. MS access databases are more susceptible to corruption and data loss than database application built for large application use and Enterprise or corporate use.

When you were hosted on the previous server, your IIS application pool was getting reset many times per day. This action was in effect unlocking your ms access database from its locked state. After we moved you to the new system and raised your memory utilization limit, your application does not receive resets more than one or two times a week. I have lowered your memory utilization from 200 to 100 in an effort to have your application reset more often, unlocking your database if it has began to cause issues.

My question is, do i have a choice to avoid change my database from MS Access to MySQL? Is MS Access database really have such problem as they mension or somethingelse happen on their server?

Forms Data Controls :: Commandargument Wouldn't Change For Session As Long As I Didn't Refresh The Gridview?

Jan 29, 2010

I have a gridview set up as follows:

[Code]....

Now, as you can see I've set up the commandargument, and was expecting to get to that in my code behind file. My code is as follows:

[Code]....

Ok...so far so good, and as long as I'm the only one working on the system it works fine. The problem is if this scenario happens:

* I go to the page and look at the gridview

* Someone else enters a new record into the database, causing the first row to contain a new record (not displayed in my browser)

* I click select.

What happens then is that, for some odd reason, I will get n numbers higher than the one I actually selected (n = num_added -num_removed).

I was under the impression that the commandargument wouldn't change for my session as long as I didn't refresh the gridview...?... There are no ajax or anything else messing with postbacks or viewstate as far as I can see..

MVC :: Why Do Route Values Not Get The New Value

Jul 11, 2010

When I do an Html.RenderAction( action, controller, new { varName = value } ); if the original request had a parameter equal to varName, then the value is not changed in a render action.

Example:

1. Post to "C1/A1" with a string var _test = "abc"

2. Inside C1/A1 get some data and return a partial view

3. Inside the partial view I invoke an action on another controller. The action has an input variable with the same name and type (string _test) Html.RenderAction( "A2","C2", new {_test="fgh"});

4. the value in _test that arrives at C2/A2 is still "abc"

I've traced through it step by step, and the value used in the view render action call is correct, but in the next trace step, the value received at C2/A2 is incorrect.

If this is not an error, and creating a new route value to pass in render action is not the correct way to handle this, what is?

How To Access The Route

Mar 11, 2011

I'm using ASP.Net 4 URL routing on a web forms site.

I have multiple routes to a single page

routes.MapPageRoute("","our-services", "~/Information.aspx");
routes.MapPageRoute("","our-company", "~/Information.aspx");

On the destination page (Information.aspx) how can I tell which route was used to get there, for example was it from our-services or our-company?
