How To Compile An AVI File From A Bunch Of Bitmaps In C#
Mar 15, 2011
I've already heard of http://www.codeproject.com/KB/audio-video/avifilewrapper.aspx
...but I just can't get it to work with ASP.NETI've perused the source about a hundred times looking for anything that might suggest it's incompatible with .NET 3.5 or not going to work with my other frameworks.

I currently have an asp.net page which a loggd in user goes to and theres a bunch of dynamically generated links to zip files that he or she owns and can downloads.Currently they click download and I have no way of knowing if it completes succesfully etc so can't log it. I do log the attempt.Is there are good download manager or solution I can use so they will have progress bars on the site, they can queue multiple ones up and most importantly I can track failed and successful downloads.

Currently, I work on an ASP.NET project which is hosted under version control and is used on several developer machines, tester machine and production environment.
In three cases, configuration (Web.config) may be different. For example, developer and tester environments use testing SQL Server, whereas in production environment, another SQL Server is accessed, so the connection string is different in those cases.
We want to keep three versions of Web.config in subversion. But modifying each of three files every time we need to add, remove or change a common setting is annoying: it would be nice to have a common, master Web.config, which will be inherited by each of the three Web.config files.
How to set up an ASP.NET project which will use a master configuration file and different slave configuration files on different machines, thus sharing the same project/source code/configuration files in subversion?

The inline code
<% for (int i = 0; i < ThumbnailList.Items.Count; i++)
{ Response.Write("thumbnailViews[" + i.ToString() + "] = $find('" +
ThumbnailList.Items[i].FindControl("ThumbnailView").ClientID + "');
"); } %>
produces a bunch of compile time errors in Visual Studio 2008 - although it works fine.
But this seems to be the exact way inline code should be added, at least according to this MS help file:
[URL]
The errors are:
expected expression (at "<%")
expected ';' (at "int i")
expected ')' (at ThumbnailList.Items.Count;
expected ';' (at " i++)")
I have done a
<%@ Page Language="C#" ...
at the top of the file.

In my ListView control, I display a whole bunch of details for students. One of the fields -- Status -- returns a boolean value. I don't want to display True or False. I'd rather display something more meaningful in English. How do I display "Approved" or "Declined" instead of simple True or False for the following?

In the application, there is an HTML page that references a .dll (dllMain) using an <object> tag.
dllMain references several other dlls (dll1, dll2, and dll3).
When the web page is loaded, it loads just fine and everything works.
However, there is a bit of a delay in the load time, using fiddler I discovered that it is trying to find dll1, ddl2, and dll3 and failing, resulting in 404 errors... by watching the web page load while watching fiddler, it is clear the delay is from the 404 errors originating from trying to find these embedded dlls.
Is there any way to make the application stop probing for these embedded dlls? Clearly it doesnt need to since the application is working even though these aren't being found?

I used to work in the IT field, but because of an accident and meds I have lost a bunch of my memory. So, I'm in need of relational database help..I've got a web site I want to put up that will sell books. I'll be using SQL server 2008. I'll be using Pay Pal's Cart, etc, so I just have to put up some buttons on the web site, but I need to track, display, etc, the books and properties about the books such as Authors, Paper back or hard cover, first edition, or something else, etc,..I have a table for books obviously, but I'm wondering if I should break out the Authors out of that table? I mean I don't see why except that if I end up with some books that have the same author then there names will be stored more than once, but I will be doing a lot more queries than inserts. I've got Customers, Book Types which is if the book is a hard cover, softcover, first edition, etc,. I will relate the Books to the Book Types of course, but again, should I have an authors table? Hope this makes sense.. I am using Visual Studio 2008 Pro, and want to do my relations there, so I thought I'd do so in the IDE if possible? I can't remember, but I thought it was possible?

I have some dedicated servers running ASP.NET applications over internet. All servers are fully trusted (all belongs to the same company) and need to communicate to each other in a secure way. They are not part of a domain or work group and should not be.Each server acts as both client and server of some WCF services. These services are few (1-2 per server) and light (a little data is transferred on each call).
I can use self-signed SSL certificates or X509. I'm looking for some way to make sure nobody from internet can call a WCF service on a server. New server would be added in the future.I read about WCF but now I'm confused, is it good idea to use self-signed SSL certificates or not (non self-signed is not an option at the moment), which binding to use, which security mode to use, which authentication method to use

I'm trying to delete a bunch of records in mysql. The record info to delete (userid, name) is stored in an arraylist. It seems to only delete the first record and gives an error ("Transaction has already been rolled back or is not pending.") afterwards. I have the transaction commit inside the loop which I think is the issue but not sure how to go further if I bring it outside of the loop. Here's the relevant bits of the code.
try
{
ArrayList alist = new ArrayList();
//alist gets populated with data like (12345,robot)(23456,car) here.
MySqlConnection conn2 = new MySqlConnection(query_connection);
conn2.Open();
MySqlCommand command2 = conn2.CreateCommand();
MySqlTransaction mytransaction;
mytransaction = conn2.BeginTransaction();
command2.Transaction = mytransaction;
for (int i = 0; i < alist.Count; i++)
{
string[] s = alist[i].ToString().Split(',');
try
{
command2.CommandText = "DELETE from users_settings WHERE UserID=" + s[0].ToString();
command2.ExecuteNonQuery();
command2.CommandText = "DELETE from users WHERE ID=" + s[0].ToString();
command2.ExecuteNonQuery();
mytransaction.Commit();
}
catch (Exception e){
mytransaction.Rollback();
}
}
}
catch(Exception e){
}

I have two tables for storing language translations - tblEN and tblES. They have the same structure which is nvcEnglish and nvcLocal - both nVarChar fields.
In nvcLocal of the Spanish table, I enter the Spanish translations of words and phrases used within my app. Problem is, when I add a bunch of new records to the English table I also have to go in and repeat the data entry into the Spanish table. I am wondering if there is a way to import the newly added records into the Spanish table using Transact SQL?The plain language query would be something like:
If the data in tblEN.nvcEnglish does not exist in tblES.nvcEnglish then insert a new row into tblES with the values from tblEN
