I know how to redirect pages with Rewrite. But when there is a 404 page how would i display my own custom 404 page (i know i can rewrite it) and say this is in fact a 404 and not just a plain rewritten page?How i can SET the error code instead of asking the server? if the user goes to /user/invaliduser/ i would like to send a 403 or 404 but my rewrite would send it to a valid page to display user info so i would like to know how to say doesnt exist rather then empty fields in a page.

I want to create a custom control where I define several specifically named DIV sections. The code-behind logic of the custom control will perform operations on these named DIV sections. The page where the custom control is hosted needs to be able to add named controls to the DIV sections and perform operations on these named controls added to the DIV sections.
Let me explain a little further. In the custom control, I want to have code behind logic that fires the following Page Event and uses a condition to make one or another specifically named DIV section visible or not:

Also, I need to be able to add controls to these named DIV sections when I host the custom control and the control that I add to the named DIV section needs to let me set values of these controls from the code behind logic of the page (or usercontrol) where the custom control is being hosted (in my example, I am adding TextBox controls that I want to set the Text property from a SQL Data Reader).

I have to create the custom pages/ templates. User has to specify the fields and controls from UI and then we have to display the specified controls on an aspx page. We have mutiple users that are adding their custom fields and controls. How we can manage this data in database? Do we have to create different database for each user or we have to create different tables for each user in a single database? Also, I can go with any other option (XML, Sharepoint etc) so that all the data will be managed in a simpler form.

I am referring to errors generated by my asp.net. For example I created a sample page and wrote 'throw new Exception("some error")' as a test. How can I retrieve an instance of the exception or exception details in my "/error/error.aspx" page? Currently in my error page if I query Server.GetLastError() the return value is null.

I have currently on multiple pages a modal popup that displays the information below, we are getting to the point where we need to call this popup from multiple locations, currently i have duplicate setups on each page that i want to use it on, but its becoming a mess to manage when a change is needed.. so im looking to see if what i have within the modal popup can be turned into a control that i can call anywhere thru out the site and have just 1 setup to maintain going forward..If its possible to create a control that can then be placed within the modal popup and server the same purpose that would be great any links here is what i have within the modal popup that i have on atleast 3 pages currently..

I d like to send bulk emails as part of custom reminder service for my website (500 emails approximately).Which is the better way to send all these emails without spamming? I was thinking of sending 15-20 emails per minute, to avoid overloading mail server. Is it better to use multiple TO recipients or use BCC?The reminder service will run on a background task.

I've been in IT for a number of years on the Infrastructure side but I'm a complete newbie when it comes to ASP.NET programming (I literally started today). I'm using Microsoft Web Expressions 2 to create a website and am used to using the regular HTML based forms to have the forms capture and email me the form data. However, from a need to have more advanced Form Validation I've embarked on changing my forms over to ASP.NET. All was going well when I seem to have hit a bit of a road block here.
I've managed to figure out the RegularExpressionValidator and RequiredFieldValidator Validation controls however I've now added an ImageButton that I want to be the form Submit button and to email me the form results once the user hits Send. But from the examples I've found online I'm still stumped on how to implement this.
Below is the form code from the page. My site is hosted with 1&1.com and I just want the form info to come to me at my email address, preferably in HTML format.

I am trying out some code which enables me in creating a page with extension .asp2
The tags included will also be custom, something like:

I have done the necessary changes so that ASP.NET identifies the extension. I have also kept a mapping of custom tags and asp.net/html tags with myself. With this I am able to render the page on browser. But how can we do event handling(usually done by page postbacks and code) in such a scenario?

You'll see that if we've got an innermost Exception of type AccessDeniedException we throw a new HTTPExcpetion with a status code of 403 AKA 'forbidden'
Here's the relevant web.config entry:

So what we're expecting is a redirect to the AccessDenied.aspx page. What we get is a redirect to the ServerError.aspx page.

i bought a hosting plan that allows me to send about 500email/per hour but my client wish to send about 2000 or 3000 email at a time. is there a way to split them and 500 email per a time automaticly without the need of reloging again every hour. my hosting plan doesn't allow me to create a sql jop or send mails via Sql Server.

There has to be a simple way to send a confirmation email to new users. Every article that I've read really doesent tell me how to use the sendingmail event. In addition when I had it working, it wouldnt send emails to places like gmail or aol.
