I'm doing a asp.net web application.
I wish to create a function for Administrator to be able to edit and change the Username of the user that the Administrator had created previously using Create User Wizard.
How do I change these hyperlinks to say something other then Edit and Cancel?
View 4 RepliesI have a page where I have a tab container and four tabs. the problem is on the first tab "manage quote request" I have a Gridview with the quote request general informatin listed and have a template field created with a link button to databind to the formview quote details. the porblem comes in when after I click on the select linkbutton. the Formview loads right. Then Whe I try to click on the edit linkbuttin in the form view I have to click it twice to change the mode to edit.

How can I get the login username to be passed to a field in a gridview on edit or insert? Do I need to convert the gridview field to a template? I have been able to pass the login name to the database in a form by using "AddWithValue("UserId", Data.SqlDbType.VarChar).Value = User.Identity.Name" but I can't figure how to bind the login name to a template field.

I am trying to handle the detailsview programmatically but I don't know what I am doing wrong. My details view control isn't going into edit mode. My code for my gridview's select button properly loads the data into the detailsview but once the detailsview renders clicking on "Edit" doesn't switch the detailsview contol into edit mode.

I have one confusion here, please check time and enter a number format, suppose if you try to add time format and now you want save blank but after setting focus it force you to enter a time.I change the property IsValidEmpty="false" but still its not accepting blank time any one has any idea?

View 10 RepliesIt sounds pretty simple, but I can't find a way to make it work. I have a FormView with a InsertTemplate where it inserts the current logged in user's UserId and content from a HTMLeditor, and a EditTemplate where it retreives the current logged in UserId and shows content from database in the HTMLeditor.
How can I get it to show EditTemplate if the userId exist in the table, and InsertTemplate if the UserId does not exist in the table?
I'm using an edittemplate to handle both editing and inserting for a Formview. In Insert mode, the Identity parameter is not needed (and cannot be used in the parameter list). In Edit mode, I need the bound value to know which record to update. So, what I tried to do is set the Text property in the OnDataBinding method.

The result is that the field is bound for Insert anyway, shows up as a parameter, and my insert statement fails (since this extra field messes up the field order of the parameters). Plus, it is always null in Insert mode by definition.
Is the OnDataBinding method too late to clear the property? If so, where can I do this, since PageLoad is too early (the template has not loaded yet and I cannot Findcontrol the field. Or is there a better way to handle all this?
My gridview can have several hundred records, and therefore users will have to scroll down to view and edit some of them. The problem is when they want to edit a record that they have to scroll down to, when the page enters edit mode it stays at the top of the page, instead of focusing on the current record, how can I change it to scroll to the correct record in edit mode?
View 3 RepliesI have a details view with buttons in the footer. When the user clicks the edit button the calls the ChangeEditMode() method. I want to change the mode of the details view to edit mode which seems to work fine. It goes into edit mode with a text box. I also want it to set the visible property of the edit button to false and set the visible property of the update button to true. Then while still in edit mode the user can click the update button that will call the appropriate method to persist the changes.
I got the changemode() to change to edit but can't change the visible property of the buttons correctly. This is what I have so far. Can some one please tell me what I'm doing wrong?

I created a gridview and bound it to a datasource, I had some problems that do not relate to this post.
then I created another datasource programmatically and deleted the old one,
and I bound it using gridview.DataSource = source.
now when I click the edit button the first time nothing happens, when I click edit on another row, the previous row I clicked on changes to editing mode and shows update cancel links, then when I click a 3rd one, the 2nd one changes to editing mode etc...
I have a user requirement to hav the ability to directly edit the gridview without having to click the edit link. I was thinking of showing dropdown lists for each column-to-row so that the user can select the values for each record. Then the table will be updated accordingly (no update link).
Is this possible or do I still need the edit template and specify the item template with the dropdown list?
I have a grid view with edit and save buttons when I click on edit it is letting me edit it and if I click on save it is lettingme save the data that I have edited.
The thing is after save is done it is showing the data in edit mode i.e <edit item template > mode I am still seeing the textboxes if I refresh the page then I am seeing it normally.
How can I stop the gridview to show edit mode after the save is done?
