How To Hide Items Within A Datalist If Values Are NULL
Jan 3, 2011
For example in my datalist if Eval("OptionJ").Tostring = Null I would like the function GetVisible to set visibility of the radio button to false like so:
I am new to using ASP.NET and I am using a datalist to represent the data obtained from querying a database. However,I am facing 2 issues:
1) If the string returned after querying the database is too long, the datalist is displaying the long string as it is which is not looking good.I am using Eval to fetch the data from the database for the sake of displaying.I need to have some page breaks so that the information fetched is presentable.
2) While repeating the datalist I want to hide all the columns except for 1 column whose value are unique.Upon searching I found this link: http://www.programmingknowledge.com/DataList.aspx but the code is in VB and I am not familiar with it.I am familiar with C#.
I am inserting the front end code for my datalist.I also want to know if datalist is the best control to present the data from the database.
I am updating a gridview. Problem is that when I hide certain fields that I do not want the user to update, they lose their values ie. the data is wiped out in the field unless I show them on the grid and make them writeable. Is there a property I need to set for the field to retain the value when the grid is updated or is this in the sql statement?
i am using a gridview in my web page,i used to bind the database records to the gridview..my columns are name, empid, company name,pl leave,sl leave, total leave taken here total leave taken is not a database fields,in the page i want to fill the records once loaded pl leave and sl leave is added and display in the total leave taken column..it working properly when all pl ans sl columns fill with numbers,if some pl and sl leave having blank values.it showing an error like input sting was not in correct format..this is my code
Updates to the edited item are not passing the new / updated values but rather the original values. And I can't for the life of me figure out why when I change the original value in an edit textbox and post the update the new value is not being passed. I get the original value. Perhaps fresh eyes can spot the problem. This should be super basic but apparently I'm missing something.
Here's the code for the Item and Edit templates. The code behind is below this.
How can I hide some items in my menu if you are just a user & only appears if you log in as administrator? I would like to hide the siteadmin. Below is the code:
I am using a listview to display some items. But sometimes based on condition I have to hide few items from the list.So how can I do this?I am using ASP.Net with c#.
I have a custom menu, which leverages the standard asp.net sitemap. It works well but some of my pages are dynamically generated by URL rewriter, so they don't sit in the sitemap XML file. At the moment I rolled a custom solution which shows/hides menu items via CSS class and a programmatic check of the role that the user is in. It works ok until I visit a dynamic page that doesn't exist in the sitemap file. I've tried the "roles" attribute in the sitemap file with security trimming but it isn't working because I have a custom menu.
Is there a way I could leverage the roles attribute in the sitemap file to show/hide menu items for my custom control below, even when some pages are not in the sitemap? My menu control is below...
I need to know how to do what the following would intuitively do if it worked (imagine useGreek() and useNato() to be states that would be consulted once per load or postback):
(It will already be apparent that I'm not usually asked to write for IIS.)
Anyway, ASP.NET doesn't like code interleaved with list items, so this is a no-go. I imagine that there's some C#-based way to handle this somehow, but I've been trying for a few days now with no luck.
Also, just to be clear, I'm seeking a server-side solution here. I'm well-versed with jQuery, but we're trying to keep most of the processing of this particular form off the client.
After postback (click on a button) in my ASP.NET form, all the DataItem of my form are null. Why? What should I do to retrieve the content of the DataList even after postback?
I have a datalist, this datalist control is bind, when user select control filters,i am looking a way to sort this datalist control for example like asc or desc or price.
I am using Listview to display the data. for a real estate website,
the problem is when the property is for sale I need to show price of sale Asking_Price or when it is for Rent i should display the Rent Amount Rent_amount field and when it's for sale and for rent i want to showboth records.
I created a datalist which contains hyperlinks that when clicked will redraw the page and update my another datalist in the same page. How do I hide this datalist after click any of its hyperlinks?
