Is there an easy way to reset all the fields in a form. I have around 100 controls in my asp.net form and there is submit and reset buttons.
How do I make all values in the fields null when user hits reset button?
I want to reset all the fields and values in codebehind on buttonclick.
View 5 RepliesIs there anyway to trigger the ValidationSummary before the user hits a button that causes validation?I have a bunch of text boxes with Required and Rregex validators attached, as I type in them and tab out they trigger their errors however the summary doesn't show anything until I hit the Submit button. Any way to have the ValidationSummary update itself in the same way as all other validators?
View 5 RepliesI have a web page, with three buttons which allow a user to cancel, save & exit, or save & continue. to assign the Save & Continue button the ability to accept the Enter key as being equal to it being clicked? Thought this might make it faster for data entry, so they can keep hands on keyboard, and just hit enter, instead of having to use mouse to click save & continue.

Why I am saying, it is. I tried to add to column in the table. Linq throwed error os some sort. I could not understand. it was like some innner table etc.
I had to resort to native sql, which showed the error, as the not null fields are there in the table.
I tried using this and am concatenating the fields together. It does not appear to be working. Here's what I have.

And I was applying (3-tyer Basics) and I'm not using wizard forever in my application.
The problem is :
When I try to passing the parameters to database, some fields I don't type it But it's show in database (Empty like "Space") in text fields and (01-01-1900) in date fields
Although it's must be (Null) .
How I can pass parameters with Null Values for the fields that's not typed?
I'm new to ASP.NET. I 'm trying to figure out how to make an HTML/ASP page where a user puts in data, either in text fields or selection boxes, and on clicking a submit button all of there selected data gets dropped either into a Access 97 Db or an excel spread sheet. Are there any examples out there of this? Is there a place that has already created this and I can just look and the code and figure it out for myself?
View 1 RepliesI have a web form and I have a user control on it. This user control contains a panel with some user properties that are to be stored in a database. So far nothing fancy. The user control itself contains a panel and is working fine (all code to retrieve and store the values is working).
I used the default settings of creating a user control and one of them was AutoEventWireup=true. This works fine because I also have some dropdown boxes (and other fields) that need to be filled with values from the database and that happens in the Page_load event.
The panel specifies the 'DefaultButton' which calls a method when clicked to save the values after the user has changed them.
On this click the code of the method is called, I confirmed that, but I found out that the values of my controls on the user control (for example the Textbox control) are empty. As a non-ASP.NET developer I couldn't figure out why. So I changed some settings like AutoEventWireup to false.
Off course this resulted in my dropdown boxes no longer to be initially filled, but my surprise was big to find out my controls actually contained the values the user typed in.
Logically I need both the values and the dropdowns filled, but for now it seems one or the other.
I'm just starting out with ASP.NET and I'm not sure how to go about the following:users have to input a part number into a text field. Sometimes they only have to input 1 part number, sometimes 50. I want to have 1 text field where they input the first part number, and if they have another one, they press a "more" button. Then, a new text field appears right beneath the first one. IF they have more part numbers, they just press the more button again... Is there a way to do this? If so, can someone give me any tips or hints on how to approach this?
View 3 Replieshave code in my .Net web app which sets the Form DefaultButton (fires the Search button when enter key is hit). This works fine in IE and Chrome but not in Firefox. I discovered that the web form has the <ajx:HoverMenuExtender which deletes a note when clicked. The problem is this note delete fires when the user hits the keyboard enter key!
View 5 Repliesmy asp.net app uses dynamic stylesheets. so each of my pages uses a pre_init method to load the relevant stylesheet. the stylesheet is the same for ALL users of the app.for each page load, i don't want to query the database to determine which stylesheet to use. therefore, I simply load the stylesheet from a STATIC variable that I store when the app starts.
works fine locally. however, on the production server the STATIC variable is reset to Null after about 5 minutes. why is that?? is there a better way for me to handle this? Should I change something in IIS? Should I change the methodolgoy I am using to retreive the stylesheet?

First of all, I'm sorry if I don't describe my problem so well, English is not my first language. I'm working on a project where after the user has pressed a button, the button goes invisible and a label control should say "In 20 mintes you may press the button again". The problem is that if the user presses the button before the current hour is almost over, then he will be able to press the button again. The way I compare the time is by placing th current time, which the user presses the button in a sqldatabase table row for that user. This is my code for the moment for showing the user how long he has to wait:

View 4 RepliesI was told to use a Repeater control in what I am doing which is a "Data Entry" screen with ASP.NET controls -a standard "address" like form. In cases, the fields on the form will repeated twice, once for the original values, one for the changed values. I have not used this control before but it seems like I have to bind to a database. Instead, I have an Entity object that has been obtained via a Repository. Can I bind to an object like this?

The following action in my controller does not update the Model property which is bound by a radio buttons group (all are named "ListType") when the form is submitted. On the Edit.ASPX form, I used JQuery to reset the radio buttons group. When setting other type of input elements on the form to blank or checked=false, those Model properties are set accordingly upon submission. Does anyone know how to set radio buttons to unched state?
Also I am trying to get the SqlException to show up in my form where I have Html.ValidationSummary helper. My ModelState helper captures the know business rules violations, but I am unable to pass any SqlException and its Message property to this helper class due to unexected exception.
