MVC :: UpdateModel Doesn't Reset Property With Posted Values?
May 27, 2010
The following action in my controller does not update the Model property which is bound by a radio buttons group (all are named "ListType") when the form is submitted. On the Edit.ASPX form, I used JQuery to reset the radio buttons group. When setting other type of input elements on the form to blank or checked=false, those Model properties are set accordingly upon submission. Does anyone know how to set radio buttons to unched state?
Also I am trying to get the SqlException to show up in my form where I have Html.ValidationSummary helper. My ModelState helper captures the know business rules violations, but I am unable to pass any SqlException and its Message property to this helper class due to unexected exception.

as the behaviour of the UpdateModel<T> changed in MVC 2 (RTM)? Since then I have the following problem when UpdateModel is called:UpdateModel<T1>(record, properties);record is typeof(Jumbo.Juist.Models.Bezorging) and properties is a string[] containing "Winkelnummer" and "OudRoutenummer".This now fails, because a get-property is being accessed: BerekendeAankomstTijd. In the past, it didn't fail. IMHO, this validation should be skipped, because it's only a getter (and thus/also not included in the string[] of properties to update)

I have a view model class that looks something like this
public class ViewModel
{
public string Name { get; set; }
public IList<SubViewModel> Subs { get; set; }
}
[code]...
Now when I call try update model it replaces the "Subs" list with a new one rather than just updating the IsSet property at the correct index.

I am creating an ASP.NET application that allows the user to add form elements to a page within a form. When the page is posted (via the submit button) I need to loop through ALL the posted values in the form and get the values.
I can't check for specific values as I don't know how many there will be or what they will be called.
Could someone point me in the right direction of getting ALL posted values so I can loop through them?
p.s I was looking in Request.Form but couldn't see anything obvious to use.

I know this has got to be the simplest-sounding question ever asked about ASP.Net but I'm baffled. I have a form wherein my visitor will enter name, address, etc. Then I am POSTing that form via the PostBackUrl property of my Submit button to another page, where the fields are supposed to be all re-formed into new hidden fields, then POSTed again to Paypal.
My problem is I cannot get at the values entered by the visitor in the original page. Any time I put in "runat='server'", ASP.Net completely changes the ID of the control, making it impossible to figure out how to access. In the POSTed form I tried Request.Form["_txtFirstName"] and that turned up null. Then I tried ((TextBox)PreviousPage.FindControl("_txtFirstName")).Text and that was null, too. I've tried variations on those. I cannot figure out how I'm supposed to get at these controls. Why does this stuff need to be so difficult?

I have a javascript to enable text boxes when called, I want to trigger this code when a user picks value "Custom" from a dropdownlist, so that I can display/Hide these new textboxes.
function setVisibility(DropDownListID) {
var element = document.getElementById(DropDownListID);
var element1 = document.getElementById("TestBox1");
if (element.value == "Custom") {
element1.visible = !element1.visible ;
}
<asp:DropDownList ID="DateRangeDropDownList" runat="server" Enabled="True" onChange="setVisibility('DateRangeDropDownList');">
<asp:ListItem>Some Value</asp:ListItem>
<asp:ListItem>Custom</asp:ListItem>
</asp:DropDownList>
<asp:TextBox ID="TestBox1" runat="server"></asp:TextBox>
For some reason it doesn't seem to work.

What is the easiest way to reset all the controls on a web form. Can I set "veiw state" to false for all of the controls with one command, do a response-redirect to its own page, and set view state back to true. What is the easiest way to do it.

at least as far as I can tell, not one that I can access programatically. It has a "_rowsTotal" property that I can't get access to it for some reason. Seem to be some sort of protected or locked property?

I have a typical gridview/formview master control setup. When I try to update or insert I don't get any errors but it also doesn't work. When I try to insert data all I get are null values and when I update, none of the values are updated. The formview looks like its working, but just doesn't. The primary key is an identity and it auto-increments by one.

No matter how I set the width in the EmptyDataRowStyle in a GridView, it gets ignored. The width of this construct always takes on the width of the text instead of what is asigned to the width property. This is also true if the property is set as a CSS style width.
If the width is assigned to the GridView construct then the EmptyDataRowStyle will take on that width.
I used this construct to test this:

i have little knowledge on javascript but i need to use this code get from somewhere for a jquery to work. I face this "Jscript runtime error: Object does not support property or method" whenever im trying to run this page. In my experience, im get this error msg 9 out of 10 times i use javascript in my system. Im using Microsoft Visual web developer 2008, i wonder if this is related to my problem, i not sure there is anything i need to add as reference or update anything. But anyway, in short, i just couldn't use javascript code when using this development tool because of this sort of error. Anyway, it happen that last time i tried use the same type of jquery code in another project and it seems to work well without an error. But now when im try to use it again in this recent project i created, it come out with this error and i have no idea how to solve it even look through google and this forum. It doesn't really seems like its the code problem itself although im not sure, because any javascript code just couldn't work. So below is my code that i need to use.
