How to retrieve the particular row of detailsview into textbox on page load event if details view defaultmode is readonly i want to retrieve the email id from detailsview email row in textbox1 on page load event ?
View 1 RepliesI'm using a detailsview control to update a record, however in this particular case there's only one field that can be changed out of a many. The update method for my object takes all fields as parameters. When the detailsview's updating method fires, the values for the readonly fields (those rendered as a Label) are not available in the e.NewValues collection.
I'm currently grabbing a reference to the object when the detailsview is databound (in the objectdatasource selected event handler), storing it in session and manually adding entries to the e.NewValues collection when updating fires. It works but seems kind of heavy handed. So, is there a better way to get the read only values back into my update method? Or is there a better way of doing this altogether?
what is the difference between defaultmode and changemode in a detailsview? When do I use each mode? Any good examples?

The method is give below: The problem I am facing is I did put some break points to figure out if all the lines are executed but the problem I am facing is that the compiler is not going in the while(reader.read()) loop(I have made to loop bold so that would be easy to locate) and hence unable to retreive data.

I have a grid view , select the grid line item from popup when click the image button which is located in header template. When click the select button in popup window , fill up the grid row and allow to edit the quantity text box.

However, the original data is still saved. If they are replacing the current data with new data, that works fine and updates/saves correctly. The third party gateway does not support query-string , so i will need to post the form to pass the values to the given URL and another thing is that they don't expose the web-services so we need to use their page and that means we need to host it in an iframe in asp.net
so what i did is that i have hidden fields that will be used as parameters as depicted below

Now the purpose of this , is to load the iframe after the page load event of the asp.net gets fired.
Now my problem here is that when the iframe loads , it does not pass the parameters to the url that is being set in the iframe.
I have attached the example, project. (2kb)
When you run the project you will notice when the iframe loads there is an Error
"NO VCS ID"
now this means that the parameters were not passed when the Iframe loads , i can understand because it seems like iframe does not do a full form post. so to demonstrate what i want, click the proceed button and you will notice it will give you a page with no errors and it will be a page where credit card details are required , i want to iframe to load that the first time.

I have on a page a gridview that can be filtered with one text box. I set up the gridview to show select and wanted to then connect a details view so that when you selected a row the entire details would show up. When I run it I get this error. I have a dropdownlist("ddlTemplate") control and a gridview("gvPlanning") control with 1 BoundField column, 1 TemplateField column and remaining columns will be generated dynamically from database.In TemplateFiled Column i have 3 image buttons viz: Edit, update and cancel.Gridview will be populated based on the selecteditem of dropdownlist.
if i click on edit imagebutton, i need to add textboxes dynamically in all the columns of that row except first 2 column. And if i click on Update imagebutton i need to retrieve the textbox values.we can add template field column for textboxes also, but why i am sticking to this method is.. the number of columns changes depending on the selecteditem from the dropdownlist. Eg: If i select india from dropdownlist the number of columns in the gridview would be 4 and if i select UK from dropdownlist the number of columns would be 9 likewise.
